Death

Death.
Have you ever tried to imagine being dead? Not in the literal sense, what i mean is, like the fact that you don't exist, that your body doesn't exist, your toughts - gone, there is nothing, you are no more. Try to imagine that, like, actually try really really hard. Can you feel the crippling dread? The chills going through your spine? The feel that you, one day, will just cease to exist. Do you feel it Sup Forums? Can you relate?

yeah it's called stop giving a fuck because when you're dead you don't have a give a fuck because nothings gonna affect you once you stop giving a fuck you get happy thus death must be happy because you don't give a fuck

Nah, I'm immortal. I've been around for thousands of years.

Literally one of the worst kept secrets but normies can't see the obvious truth in front of their eyes.

you are overreacting

I get that same feeling when I question if there is a God. And then I wonder where the fuck he came from. Did some higher being create God? It hurts my brain.

The worst about that is when you are dead you don't se any logic way out without help of another person or drugs prescribed by someone...

wow
there is none, user
God was once a creation of the human mind to rule over the weak and to give some questions an answer
But when people forgot they were who created this imaginary being, this same creation began to rule their lives, imposing what and what not to do
wake up from it. there is no god, it will never appear. but if you create one to calm your thoughts, rembember tomorrow that it was just a fantasy

i await my inevitable demise with an open mind. At long last i will be free of the bindings of this mortal world, and take me to an endless adventure in the next existence.

Oh yeah. You must have the answers to it all. Thanks for the insight, random nobody on the internet. I will stop thinking for myself now.

I think that amount of inexistence is incomprehensible.

Inaccurate. We leave a digital footprint that, in theory, if there's enough data, could one day create an approximation of me. This facsimile may not be "me", but in all shape and form will be indistinguishable from me. The real question OP is: What is life? This flesh and brittle bones? This heart? This slowly rotting body? Or are we merely a vehicle for something greater?

we are a bunch of connected brain cells

and one day we will awaken born anew.

I kinda look forward to dying because I'll finally find out what happens afterward

>do come back conscious as something else as if you never died

>go to heaven/hell

>nothing you have no consciousness (some say you will only see blackness thus to see blackness your brain must register it but it can't because it's no longer working so what do people when say you see blackness or nothing?)

were made of atoms

>atoms are dead
>molecules are dead
>the stuff inside a cell is 'dead'
>but somehow a shitload of this dead stuff makes a being that's 'alive'
>how does a trillion dead atoms make one conscious alive being? unless it's like the matix or some shit this thinking is why I get no sleep

I'm fine with either one of the three honestly

Im pretty sure if you cant think or see or hear or do anything, you wont be able to think about seeing stuff so it wont be black or anything. Youll be dead and nothing else.

Guys, think of this:
There is the universe, created by big bang, the matter and antimatter, our little planet and ourselves. Now try to think of the universe as a whole, as an entity. Why? Maybe there is no god. There is certainly no meaning. But there is something. All those set of rules, physics, chemistry, atoms and their structure. Something must of have created this. Something. There is another plane of existence we cannot understand.

Yes all the time
The void is always something that pops up in my day to day life. When I'm at home, at work, with acquaintances. It's interrupting my day to day life that one day I won't be able to dream, to love etc. anymore and I'll just rot in a box forever.
How do I get my mind off it Sup Forums?
inb4 smoke a joint

Yes it's so overwhelming and terrifying that I just have to think of something else

Also, the only way of achieving immortality is by pursuing science and robotics. Either we replace our bodies with immortal ones, or we connect ourselves to something resembling the Matrix. Why isn't the whole world pursuing that? Its like the ultimate goal.

find meaning; find a will to power.

as long as it's not hell I don't give a shit

I think conscious beings can't comprehend death because you would consciously have to think of being with no conscious

Exactly the way i feel. Its comforting knowing that other people are not so ignorant and acknowledge this horror.

just forget about it faggot. realize that there is literally nothing you can do to beat death. just try and make your life as much the way you want it as possible
>source: i smoked a joint and now i know how to deal with it

Thats what cripples me. I can actually imagine that.

not to mention the omega and lambda are damn near perfect for life to exist same with all the physics but if there's an infinite universe possibilities thus one has to be perfect for life

I used to fear death because of exactly that however then I realized that being dead won't be the first time not existing. Before I developed a consciousnes, whenever that might have been, I too did not really exist in that sense.
By this logic I kinda know what it means to not be conscious. I no longer have to fear the unknown, which is what people fear when they fear death.

Look at it this way, we already have billions of years of experiencing non-existence. we're just going back to where we are from

if you about being in hell and how much of a shit hole it is and realize you're there forever and no way out its gets pretty spooky

>implying immortality is possible
our organs and all the shit inside of us deteriorates with age (including the brain, which essentially is responsible for you being you and different than everyone else)

Classic thought. Death is the same state as before your birth.

Remember what it was like before you were born? Yeah, it'll be a lot like that.

THERE IS NO FUCKING MEANING OF LIFE, WHY DO WE EXIST. WHY SHOULDN'T WE EXIST. WHY WHY WHY WHY

seems scary until it happens and its not because it's nothing anymore

A "loving and just" god wouldn't send anyone to hell FOREVER

this thread is getting deep for being on Sup Forums

sometimes I wish I could die and come back to life just to know what the hell happens

Ur a long time dead son so may aswell make ur time here fun n happy bro

I don't even remember what I did this week but I've read stories of people remembering their 'past lives'

Stop describing death. We know what death is. We know the experience. The fact that we cease to exist and the feels is the topic.

I believe we're more than mass. I believe we have a soul, but it's better described as our consciousness. If there isn't one, I'll be dead so I won't give a fuck. Hopefully I'll be reincarnated with this soul into something better than this

>tips fedora
>cold blooded animals magically became warm blooded cuz science

We exist somehow because were happen to be the perfect combo of nucleic acids to produce life I call BS someone had to make that acid could be god could be aliens no one can know, hell we could be in alien zoo and they're just doing experiments to see how we react so they can make better species or some shit

I've also read stories of people getting abducted and anally violated by aliens

Chills and dread? nah not me

Lies and fantasy

if I got abducted my ass cheeks would be tighter than a virgins pussy sewn shut

...

No dread, no chills. Non-existence sounds very peaceful.

or a computer program

WE

For me ceasing to exist means a complete loss of consciousness, which might be intimidating but it really isn't.
You know what else is loss of consciousnes? Sleeping. Excluding dreams, you have no consciousness while sleeping whatsoever. From this point of view you basically experience death every night you fall asleep but nobody fears sleep now do they.

Another way to think of it: The universe is expanding. At some point it will retract. A very long time from now it will collapse in on itself and create an event horizon. At omega point all matter will revert to its original form. Yet, since time is so distorted all matter will revert infinitely thus every form of matter will be all it ever was all at once. This would mean, at least for a brief moment, you and everyone you know will be alive again infinitely stuck in the event horizon.

what?

fuck m8, i realized this when i was 8. what took you so long?

I realized this when i was 5. Crying myself to sleep was a daily routine.

Yup we've evolved as a species to "prepare" for death with sleep every night

Correct me if I' wrong, but I'm pretty sure when you die you get 72 virgins, no idea wacha guys panicking about

...

...

Fuck that noise. I'm feasting, boozing, fighting and fucking wenches in Valhalla for all eternity.

Or, you know, at least until Ragnarok

yea i did when i first thought of it, like id rather have never been born at all.

but i try not to think about it too much, happens to everyone and is unavoidable, therefore not worth concerning myself over. aka stop being a little bitch

i like everyone in this thread. even you rapist.

72? fuck I'm gonna need more than that I'll have them used up in about a month

The laws of physics as we know them exist in this dimension because it could be no other way here. If not for the fracturing of and after the big bang resulting in the birth of the electron and the subsequent bonds made possible thereby, nothing as we know it would be.

We are life; instead of inert gas drifting through the cosmos endlessly, we are complex chains of complex molecules representing the universe knowing itself.

Think of the universe as a bubble in a much wider pool. Within the time that the bubble lives there can arise inside a form of life, a consciousness born of the unique environment of that bubble. When the bubble fades and reconstitutes itself with the unknown depths that gave it birth, so too shall the life, the consciousness, fade.

The goal then rests beyond death. The point of life is to live and attempt to attain the next step. If you cannot, you go with your bubble back to the ether. If you can, you will have reached beyond the base world of the physical. A microbe one day contemplating itself entirely and stepping into the larger world of its gods, beyond what it new prior as time and space.

Is immortality possible? Death is my worst nightmare, I would give up on anything I have in my life right now to become immortal.

>immortality

>endure end of the universe and that's gonna suck ass

>what if you get life in prison

>imagine if you got stuck in the middle of the ocean and had to swim back but couldn't die

immortality doesn't mean you're immune to pain if you get fucked it's gonna suck

>correct use of immortality to avoid problems stated above

You are talking about immortality of the physical? It has an inherent end date then. After the universe ends and the laws of physics no longer exist to support your continued existence, you'd end. Beyond the physical is a measure of life from a perspective that the physical inconsequential. Beyond this I can only conceive of moving to another universe with physical laws similar to your own. Of course, it may be possible that the laws of physics remain constant in all membranes due to the nature of the formation.

Well, it does not have to suck. I can learn all mysteries of life and universe, get a taste of every joy possible. I won't miss anything.

Even if it does suck, I'll have all the time I need to fix this shit up. I am immortal goddamit!

can't really dodge the sun when it goes supernovae and plus you'd have to work for eternity which would suck ass

Speaking of immortality, what would happen if you overdosed on meth?

Well, seing the end of universe is probably more than enough for a lifetime. And it's a bonus if it somehow continues after that.

In the same way a cup of flour isn't a cake. The definition of life isn't divinely objective and hasn't even been rigorously defined by scientists. For example, is a virus alive? Life in essence can be boiled down to a collection of 'things' (molecules, proteins, cells) that collectively compose a single entity that reproduces and metabolises.

what if you got pulverized by a jet engine or some shit then what?

You will be dead i think.

Tho the descendand question becomes:
How do we become immortal? Any ideas?

>have you
Yes. But, in order for that to be truly valid, I can't even mention " _______". You simply can't and don't; that's how. There are no intrinsic, noumenal things, nor are there extrinsic, phenomenal things.

There isn't anything. There isn't even the notion of anything, or the metaphysical concept of a non-being for non-being, to the point where you simply will not continue, and can not continue.

But, otherwise, I won't cease to exist when I die. I'll have an average of 75-110 years of "shelf life" in the memory of others, then I'll probably be lost and forgotten. Yet not completely either, because I understand and "remember" that there were once people alive during the 1600s, and while I never knew them by name, I know that they must have existed in some form- and some of their bones lie dormant right here and now, in a charnel pit/shallow grave/mass grave somewhere. I even -do- know some of them by name- thank history for their accursed immortality.

You have to get very anal about the metaphysical nature of "you", but ultimately, you're going to be around for as long as anything else is going to be around. Just not as a living human-shaped agent. I also can't level with you on feeling "dread" or "chills" about dying or no longer being. I'm glad that this is probably the case. The thought of "finally being at rest" will feel good right before I stop being alive (both physically and mentally)- and then I simply won't be, and everything will be fine, because dead men tell no stories (unless they left something behind).

Christ, I very much would not actively choose to be immortal- if I were, I'd have to be able to change what I am, beyond being a human-shaped thing. I need to continue to grow, and expand, and interact with things.

Otherwise? Just let me cease, like I'm meant to.

no he's immortal so he can't be dead

Only thing I can tell you is the recipe for immortality begins with sugar, spice and everything nice. The rest you have to discover on your own.

Immortal.

Not invincible, unacceleratable, or incapable of mitosis. Which means, if you lived forever, by extension, your cells must also live forever.

Which means they need to have a lot of new mechanics instilled upon them- like even more selective forms of cell death, so that you both don't turn into cancer, but also can heal if you are in fact injured somehow.

This again brings up the question: what is life?

>chemical /x/

Just make the telomeres invincible.

Get

Hey guys i used to fear death then i read this text galactanet.com/oneoff/theegg_mod.html and now everything feels okay

But there won't be crippling dread or chills because you will be dead

Life is existence... Conciousness is a fancy trick existence has played on itself to propagate more existence

>the tought

The egg makes you feel good? Think about how often you have/will be a slave nigger

How good does that feel?

So basically, every time I masturbate it's like you masturbated. Hope you like midget porn user

You respawn in your bed with your orange coat like nothing ever happened

If no one died there would be a colossal overpopulation crisis, people need to die to make room for others. If such technology ever existed it would not be available to the public

Thou wouldn't the replacing of our bodies pretty much nullify our ability to reproduce?

Dude i was Hitler and all the slaves he banged

"We" were also all those genderqueer demiboi pansexual adrogyne dragonkin non binary aheists too !

>unprecedented survival of mis-pairing generations that pass on their defects and mistakes
>no or less selection pressure against defective cells
>no cell death
>what happens if cells are misplaced
>current attempts at this with human cells often result in cancer or other detrimental outcomes
>where's all this telomerase going to go or even come from
>increased need for calories/energy

You need to do a lot more than just prevent the capping of telomeres. The human body is a delicate balance of things- you change one staple, and you change them all. Unless you've perfected the science, in which it would be absurd to stop, or rely only upon, telomeres.

Probably also because most of us are used to the idea that we will all cease to be one day- and so we are incentivized to pursue certain goals, in stride or with due diligence (for the most part). Not only would overpopulation become an issue- but so would the amount of agency each and every immortal person would then possess. It would be not only an overpopulation crisis, but a stagnation of uniform progress with which to work with.

Imagine every possible bad idea being enacted over, and over, and over- with less and less available resources or means, with the fear of death non-existent. That's another reason you don't just give these things to every single person, ever.

Unless we can shoot ourselves across the stars, then that's an entirely different can of worms altogether.

Only if you hypothetically make it so
