-- No Excuses

I grew out of Nirvana at age 15.
I'm 26 now and this album just sounds so much different after revisiting it. I get the emotion of it now, and can actually see just how unique Kurts song-writing was. Sloppy? Yeah. Was he the greatest singer or guitar player? No, but he undeniably had a style all his own, pieced together and displayed in just they right way. It was artsy rock but was peppered in just the right amount of post-hardcore, punk, and minimalism. Minimalism being the main thing I realized. He created complexity not in his guitar skills, but his songwriting and the way he expressed himself musically. The stream of consciousness lyrics that seem to be a soup of thoughts and topics mixed. His odd, simple riffs that somehow managed not to sound all that simple. There were layers to his music, and it was coming from so many places at once. All the 90s bands that tried to sound like Nirvana just didn't fucking get it. It's no surprise as to why the mainstream took notice. They stood out within their underground, but at the same time it's hard to believe that the mainstream took notice in that period of time. Nirvana were actually pretty fucking weird, and even dark at times. Especially on this album. I still love Nirvana.

>Favorite track from the album

Black Skinhead

Cassandra gemini is a fucking masterpiece

Guns n' Roses > Nirvana

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, and not even the favourite of most people who like them, but the debut Mr. Bungle album is still in regular rotation on my MP3 player.

I don't know why I wouldn't tell someone I like that song. I listen to way more faggy music than Elton John and I'm not ashamed to mention *that* music. Go figure...

yeah fuck off mate

You have a current picture of Kurt to compare? Just because the faggot died in his heyday doesn't make him better.
