do you like it
Do you like it
Yes.
No.
Maybe.
I don't know
Can you repeat the question
I love Hamilton to death. The ungodly mixtape that was released today is bad.
yeah
It was bad?? That surprises me.
Can you tell me what was wrong with it? Because it looked like it had a pretty impressive line up (The Roots, Sia, Chance, Nas, etc.)
nah
It's literally garbage
yes
not the other guy, but some of the covers are quite bad. These are broadway songs in pop style, but they are broadway songs none the less. No matter how hard she tries, Kelly Clarkson and Usher can never match broadway singers. Some of the other songs are just kind of uninspired.
The whole thing is pretty good imo, but there is a reason none of these songs made it onto the stage. A lot of them cover irrelevant points in Hamilton's life/America's founding, which makes the songs kind of boring but it does show just how much thought and time Lin-Manuel Miranda put into the musical.
Have you seen the stage musical too? I've heard amazing things about it.
It's very bland middle of the road hip hop, it's like tribe called quest without interesting lyrics with average beats. I don't seek it out but i can handle listening to it.
come on man I'm a college student. I can't shell out 200+ dollars plus a ticket to ny. Hopefully I can see them when it starts touring but I really wish I could see it with lin-manuel playing Hamilton
eh
I'll comment on the artists you listed first, then explain my overall issue with it:
The Roots did really well, but they did the music and mastering of the original soundtrack, so I'm not surprised; they're already super familiar with the material. Sia is fine, but it feels like they put her in the tracklisting to sell copies; Queen Latifah performs the difficult part of the song (rapping) and could easily have done the singing as well. Chance is okay, but it just feels like a waste to have two versions of Dear Theodosia on the same disc. Nas is pitiful; his verse opens with the line "I picked up the pen like Hamilton," which is the most direct and clumsy allusion to the man you could make.
The whole project is essentially the equivalent of "Celebrities Do Hamilton," which is a failure considering none of them do the original songs justice, and the ones that come close just make me wish I was hearing the real thing. Just bad.
I'm in college too! Cool! We have something in common.
Only high school and college students like Hamilton. Maybe a couple of ugly moms.

WE WUZ: The Musical
The stage show absolutely lives up to the hype. I only saw it cause my gf's parents bought the tickets tho. Not sure I'd shell out more than $200 of my own money to see it, but it wouldn't be the worst way to treat yrself.
