Besides, that was years ago. I make a lot more money in Aus than I would in the US. It's better to make capital here, then bring it over to the US later.
If I get enough capital here in Aus I can move to the US and just sit on investments. Work a relaxed day job part-time to cover grocery bills and shit.

it really depends on where he would be going, and usually investing into something that is "worth more" (90cents to the 1USD) can usually be more in your favour. Especially when housing is good atm. Investing with an inflated dollar into that of a bad housing market like you are suggesting would be a poor decision to make.

best in the area, good commercial around it, housing near it have good access to groceries and such. Since it is closer to the Uni, the value of the house has a better chance of appreciation more too.
