Most overrated pianist is objectively Horowitz.

Favourite composer you recently discovered?

Mine's Harry Partch.

Also who /microtonal/ here?

Jokes on all of you
It's actually Lang Lang

Tielman Susato

essential microtone core:

He's overrated for a good cause at least (getting chinks to listen to classical music.)

for me it's Rubinstein. I can't stand his Chopin.

Horowitz has one of the GOAT recordings of Liszt's B minor sonata though.

Total pleb here, just wondering.

How does centuries old classical music work in the copyright world? Does each performer of the public domain music have copyright over his own recording?

Whichever record label recorded it owns the performance, like Deutsche Grammaphon for example. But the performer can hold concerts playing the same music without giving a dime to DG. If the composer is still alive I think they get a cut.

>tfw you learn Verklärte Nacht is about a man being cucked and accepting it

Hey I want to start listening to classical music because I can no longer enjoy anything else very much because it is all so pozzed and Jewy. How exactly should I go about listening though? Should I listen to operas all the way through? It seems weird to just listen to bits and pieces.

Lord have mercy.

What the fuck am I doing with my life?

Since tonight's a pious night here's some Bortniansky and Herzog.

at least he was classically educated, unlike Gould.
Gould's speeches are a bit pretentious and boastful even for an intellectually tolerant fellow like me.

Singers often make albums of just opera aria collections. It's fine when you don't have the time or patience.

Paganini

Why he left unfinished this fugue?

>Why he left unfinished this fugue?
because he realized fugues suck

wrong

my nigga

Brahms or Wagner?

Liszt

his Mephisto Waltz is pantsu on head tho

Yes

Stravinsky's best period is the transitional phase between his neoclassical work and going full serialist. Its his most distinguishable sound

Gesualdo on guitar, pretty radical.

>not Yuja Wang

Go ahead, post a pic without your decorations on them

Literally no relevant musician is overrating them. The critics also have hated on them for years now, they just have god tier PR agents.

I agree, but his Art of Fugue and WTC are still 10/10.

He died horribly and pianfully cause of a eye surgery infenction.

>tfw the divine Bach died in pain with fucked up eyes

Wagner for opera, Brahms for everything else.

Lang Lang and Kisin are the ultimate overrated pianist. Perfect technique accompanied by the most boring interpretation possible, no matter what they are playing.

nice conspicuous consumption, fag
