Numerous
Seriously one of the most overrated albums of all time

I think it's underrated here because it's mainstream

Misfits - Static Age
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Minor Threat - Out of Step
Operation Ivy - Energy
Anything by descendants
So many better albums

fun? yeah.

I said fun

yeah, those are all more fun

I'm always having a blast listening to this

...

Descendents have so much fun music as mentioned

Dead Milkmen - Big Lizard in My Backyard

>any of this
>fun

lmao

If you don't think the Dead Kennedys are fun, you need to go a drink a bucket of paint.

>Decendents
>not fun

are you autistic?

good choices.

This

yeah they're shit but Blink put out some seriously catchy shit.

>tfw you'll never take your qt highschool gfs virginity in the late 90s

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is so much fun.

this

...

There's nothing wrong with the more entry level stuff, it's a great way to introduce someone to punk.

my older brother started me out on blink and Green Day and then gradually got me into other stuff like Decendents and NOFX then Bad Religion and so on and so fourth.

youtu.be/XLjo0lY450c

Same snotty/witty attitude through a hipster west coast lens. Not pop punk or cali punk style at all.

youtube.com/watch?v=3Xahvg7-iJ4

you have shit taste in punk if you think that's the most fun punk album

Please get some taste

Dead Kennedys are objectively one of the worst punk bands of all time

Yeah right now they are, what the fuck is a Dead Kennedys without Jello Biafra? But before his departure, DK was one of the best punkbands to ever exist.

What really grinds my gears is MISFITS. it's complete shite! it's like the punkversion of KISS

Top tier.

No the Dead Kennedys have always been shit. Jello Biafra isn't a good frontman.

Fucc wut Sup Forums thinks thoe hive mind

"no"

ye

...

...

Why are they good? Give me reasons that aren't just because you're told you're supposed to like them

>intelligent, witty lyrics
>"surfy" riffs
>pioneers of hardcore punk
>east bay ray is debatably one of the best punk guitarists ever
>criticized both left and right wingers
>jello's vocal style is completely unique in punk
>their ethics weren't focused around baby nihilism ,like a lot of other bands at the time
>encouraged lots of young people to become politically active

You can not like them, but to say that they suck exposes you as a turbopleb.

Saying they suck isn't saying it's objective you absolute moron

so this wasn't you...?

Do me a favor and list your favorite punk bands aside from DK and we'll see who the turbopleb is

Lightspeed Champion > Test Icicles >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Blood Orange

Bad Brains has some fun vibes

DK aren't even close to my favorite, not even as far as 80s punk goes.

80s
>negative approach
>poison idea
>bad brains
>gorilla biscuits
>crucifucks
>charged GBH
>D.I.
>minor threat

90s
>poison idea again
>los crudos
>infest
>op ivy
>sick of it all
>strife
>totalitar
>chain of strength

2000s
>dillinger four
>mental
>righteous jams
>have heart
>fury
>the repos
>the ergs
>BTMI
>weekend nachos
>coke bust
>pure disgust
>higher power
>cold world
>the flex

And what about 70s?

the only punk band from the 70s I really love is the damned so I usually skip that part

forgot to add MDC in the 80s section

>pop punk

How much 70s stuff have you listened to? Why do you skip the arguably most important decade for punk?

>this thread
I remember my punk phase

The Damned is fucking shit

not that guy, but Buzzcocks, Wire, The Germs and The Jam are the only 70s that I really enjoy. While the decade may have the progenitors of the genre, the 80s have more and better

But you only listed the most basic and in my opinion some of the worst punk bands of the 70s. It's not right to judge a decade when you haven't gone beyond the entry level version of it.

Eat my dick. The Damned made the best punk rock of all time. Here's proof.

Fair enough, what are some of your favorites?

Why are you so defensive about not that great of bands? It's obvious you don't what you're talking about.

>The Damned made the best punk rock of all time

If you wanted to prove that you'd be posting Machine Gun Etiquette or The Black Album though.

youtube.com/watch?v=8K59IBGNrR4

I've listened to probably all the 70s stuff, I just prefer later punk

The Child Molesters, Freestone, Nervous Eaters, Dow Jones & the Industrials, Uncalled 4, Bobby Soxx

Have you listened to the 70s stuff that's not just the Sex Pistols and the Ramones?

please enlighten us on what we should all be listening to then

yes, i'm not particularly fond of either of those bands

I just prefer hardcore instead of punk rock so 80s and on is more for me

This is a good start youtube.com/watch?v=o8P8gd937gE

how about you try to explain yourself instead just saying something is "shit"

Rocket From the Tombs and Electric Eels too

I have an original pressing of the first comp in that series.

I still like the damned better than anything on it.

Why does it matter if you have an OP of it? That's your fault for having shit taste. The second comp is infinitely better than the first.

>Why does it matter if you have an OP of it?

Maybe, just maybe I've been at this a while longer that you. Nobody needs your lecturing.

And you still have yet to explain why anything you call shit is actually shit.

liking what i'm hearing so far, thanks for the recs man

I call it shit because I don't like it. To me it's shit and not an accurate representation of what punk rock actually is.

>the damned is not an accurate representation of punk rock

Now I don't like it when people throw this word around, but you've forced my hand.

That is OBJECTIVELY a false statement.

You just lost 10 punk points my friend.

No it's not objectively wrong. You've proven you're incapable of having a discussion because as soon as someone attacks something you like you get defensive. Go listen to some more of that british shit you fucking pussy.

How is the damned not an accurate representation of punk rock? If you can't explain yourself, nothing you have to say matters.

>90s
>op ivy
>they broke up in 1989

It mass produced shit trying to be a part of a movement that was happening. It's one step below being the Sex Pistols.

That's true, Strawberries is fantastic as well, but their first album feels like the most "fun" out of all of them.

you must have a pretty warped view of what mass produced means

a quote about the studio the damned recorded in

"The studio was very small, about 8 x 8 metres with a 2 x 2m control booth in the corner and an upright piano next to it. You could just squeeze three people into the control booth! The tape deck was a Brenell 1 inch 8 track. The monitors and desk were custom made, and they had a pair of Auratones as well, fed from Quad power amps. The desk was quite small, pushed hard against the front wall with the custom monitors hung above and the Auratones on the meter bridge. Outboard was very basic: a Bel delay line, an Alesis digital reverb and Drawmer gates, but they had a nice plate reverb in a cupboard in the office upstairs. I can't recall all the mics but they were the industry standard stuff. We got big warm sounding mixes and despite the cramped conditions the mixing process seemed effortless compared to the difficult digital learning curve I have been on in the last two years."

either that or you're just a tryhard

>It mass produced shit trying to be part of a movement that was happening

The Damned were the most punk band out all the original wave of punk. Malcolm McClaren lived through the Pistols, and The Clash basically sold out from the get go by signing to CBS. Tell me how they aren't mass produced. I'm not saying they're bad, but you're clearly not understanding what you're even talking about.

None of the punk rock classics are good

Oops.

I often associate them with the absolute dogshit in the 90s that tried to rip them off (looking at you green day)

it's Skate punk

Also bands that made infinitely better recordings did so with a 4 track in their basements so fuck off

tryhard

only plebs have "phases"

back to your Kanye thread now, buddy.

And Rancid for the most part. And Out Come The Wolves is ok but its so sucked off and ripped off that it got ruined for me.

Then what punk rock is good, maestro?

Why is going beyond the classics being a tryhard?

Never said that, I was implying that you're a tryhard because YOU implied anything recorded outside of someone's basement is "mass produced shit"

I didn't say that. You're a pleb. Get over it.

Then why do you have a problem with the damned...?

Because they didn't do it in their basement? Stop flip flopping, pleb.

you implied it

just ignore him m8

some people are too thick to argue with

even when you win, you lose

No. The only thing I have against The Damned is I think the music sucks. That's been my position the entire time.

stay out of it nigger

You're right. Back to talking about music I actually care about.

Anyone here like LOC shit?

I found a link with almost their entire catalog if anyone wants it.

You mean back to talking about shit music

I'd like to check that out if you dont mind.

Here ya go man. Tons of good stuff on here.

docs.google.com/file/d/0BxRl6cNhfPsyM2FXYTFCSkRHY0E/edit

Don't. It's shit.

Don't trust this guy. He doesn't know anything about punk rock.

>Dookie - Green Day

ummmmmm try again sweetie!!

Holy shit i completely forgot about RZL DZL, thanks dude.

pic related

nothing from lockin out is punk rock so I think I'm good

stop acting like a child

I saw RZL DZL at a hardcore halloween costume party like 2 years ago. It was amazing.

I wish I could go back to '05/'06 and see some of these guys again. Such a magical time to be in the scene (as long as FSU wasn't trying to wreck your shit)
