Tony Williams (the guy who played drums on Out to Lunch, produced a pretty cool debut as bandleader) would have been interesting to watch progress. The guy had some of the weirdest sense of jazz from that era.
He eventually went fusion though. And as expected it's predictable tasteless yuppie wank.
If you look at it from a purely objective standpoint, sure. It was influential and did sort of set the tone for that era.
To be quite honest though it really is bland tasteless yuppie wank.
