He's famous because he's a retard championed by tastemakers who like outsider art, ie. Kurt Cobain and Sonic Youth.
His music is just childish nursery rhymes set to basic 12 bar blues riffs and his art is like a 10 year old child's sketch pad-level shit.
He can't even look after himself and had to live with his 80 year old parents. His dad died a couple of years ago so how the hell his frail, aging mother looks after him I'll never know.
Whatever his status in the music world, he does indeed suck at life.
