wat's dis?

System wide ad blocking by altering the hosts file. On Android "lucky patcher" can do it, "hosts file editor" for pc.

>On Android "lucky patcher" can do it
also AdAway

>"hosts file editor" for pc
Right click -> create shortcut -> "c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" -> Hosts -> OK
Right-click shortcut, Compatibility -> Privilege Level -> Check, Run this program as an administrator

True, but you'd still have to keep adaway as an app, right?

of course not, it would not be blocking anything not already blocked by the other three layers of ad-blocking (two of which happen at the firewall)

Good to know. I always thought AdAway needs to run in background or something.

I don't understand the hub-bub with browser ad-blocking.

Blocking ads/bad guys/malicious hosts at the firewall is much more advantageous.
