garage more like garbage

gar[b]age

hip hop obviously, but it's garbage

garage, jungle

not a question

hip-hop is a subgenre of garbage yes

how do you text?

except literally what the fuck are those
and grime is just british hip-hop
and it sucks ass

?

dont contribute to a thread that requires a base level of knowledge if you dont have a base level of knowledge. grime is deeply rooted in UK club music - yes it may borrow certain aspects from hip hop, but it's clear to anyone with ears that it's nothing like anything made in the US. it's irrelevant whether or not you like it, just dont try and spout shit about it if you don't even know what it is

>hip hop
>a subgenre of electronic
>garage
>a subgenre of electronic
>grime
>yet another subgenre of electronic
Unless something is a very specific style of an existing genre that also possesses the traits of its parent genre, it's not a subgenre. The only subgenres of garage are things like speed garage and uk bass

>and grime is just british hip-hop

>not British

we have an actual hip-hop scene, but it's so small compared to grime it's not even worth discussing. But grime is not British hip-hop.

Grime is a subgenre of Rap with influences from house, gar[b]age and jungle. And is made purely for top 40 recognition and appeals primarily to sub-urban kids in secondry school. It was pioneered in the underground scene for a few years and was made by and for chav scum.

And yet, despite shitting on it, i bet neither of you even know what uk garage actually is

>"uk" garage
>it was actually created by American producer Todd Edwards

leave this board and never come back you fucking troglodyte

it's like burial and shit
except burial is actually good and "future"

Burial, Jamie xcx, the list goes on

leave this board

fucking americans I swear to god

oi m8 we're rappin but like its to fast beats and shit its totes our own thing x

Name one genre Britian "created" that didn't already exist in America

It comes out of jamaican dancehall MCing tradition via garage, jungle, and hardcore lineage you fucking moron

dubstep

Not a real genre its just garage with more bass

>it's totally not hip hop guys... s-swear!
>it's our OWN thing
>*tea-drinking* intensifies

See:

im sure all of that stems from negro american shit in some way. ur country sucks and stole all of its music from america. small inbred island fag0t

see

wtf is any of that supposed to mean you snaggletoothed pasty-white inbred freak

this.

also
>garage, jungle, and hardcore lineage
literally what the fuck even

Hip hop came out of jamaican dub and the toasting tradition in the first place. We really should be giving Jamaica credit for both hip hop and grime

>We really should be giving Jamaica credit for both hip hop and grime
yes, but that's ignoring the influence of the hardcore continuum on grime

convergent evolution

how do you come to a music discussion board and not know anything about music, no really how

>electronic beeps
>music

this.
what the kind of self-respecting genre of music is based around singles instead of albums anyway?

epic post

making aesthetic judgements is useful and helps us make connections and understand things cohesively but i honestly cannot understand why, even after people are able to trace genealogies for different genres that marks them as distinct people assert that aesthetic similarities somehow supersede this.

its like calling a bat a bird because it has wings and then smugly continuing to point out that it has wings when someone explains how wrong you are

if you can't recognize your own biases and the varying traditions that compose the constantly changing discourse around any medium how can you expect anyone to consider your opinion seriously

fpbp

yeah plus it was heavily influenced but dub. i don't understand Brits' elitism when it comes to dance music, they didn't start anything lmao.

yeah, but this particular "bat" has feathers, a beak, and all the internal organs of a bird.

So is this hip-hop then?
youtube.com/watch?v=zDRzDK8ZWYo

yes

This is garage with an MC

>yes
You're a moron then.

This is the pinnacle of grime
youtube.com/watch?v=D1gl46hh3sQ

ok now you're literally just denying reality. you've closed your eyes in front of the bat and now you're just pointing to feathers that aren't there

i'm sorry that you're fucking deaf and can't hear that grime is just a shitty rip off of the infinitely more popular and profitable american hip hop.

wrong

How is that even hip-hop? It's garage with an MC on top hyping up the crowd? Fucking americans I swear

Not all MCing = Hip-Hop

Derived from dancehall, just like hip-hop. Therefore they both contain many of the same elements. But grime is also more derivative of garage/DnB/jungle.

but it totally is hip hop
fucking britbongs, i swear

honestly though like

>not all mcing = hip hop

true man

yall ever actually listen to any grime

>but it totally is hip hop
>fucking britbongs, i swear
Fucking Americans calling uk garage hip-hop Is this hip-hop too now?

youtube.com/watch?v=mL2Bgj-za5k

or this?

youtube.com/watch?v=BWVw2UZwllA

or this?

youtube.com/watch?v=hwmaDg75MIc

Hip Hop = Rich guys who hang out with instagram hoes whine about problems over 70bpm "trill" beats

Grime = 18 year old kids who's parents are on jobseekers rap over 140bpm riddims about shanking people with skengs and anime.

Americlaps who have only ever heard Skepta and Stormzy: "Literally the same thing pardner, you britbongs are dumb"

all of those are hip hop.
fucking musically illiterate tea drinkers need to fuck off from my board

^it's fairly obvious that he's trolling, why are people still replying

youtube.com/watch?v=tFuujExs03A

ok but is this hip hop?

all this flailing around in the thread and you've not provided a single substantive argument other than "wrong," "it totally is," and "those are hip hop" Even after people have tried to spoonfeed you that there are separate lineages for hip hop and grime you seem completely unwilling to employ any sort of critical thinking. this is why brits hate us so much

grime more like Grimes

because they're retarded

yes
>this is why brits hate us so much
oh no. what a tragedy.

This thread is literally just Americans going "lol grime doesn't exist" and tea sippers STILL don't realize its a ruse. How can you claim to handle bantz at this rate

>and it sucks ass
only cos you aint got a crew to get hyped with

youtube.com/watch?v=NUksO77KeUU

this is now a grime thred,

post b a n g a s and e s k i choons

in this particular case murricans can suck out
you lot have no say when it comes to grime, only thing you can do is enjoy it (or not)

Solid tune tbqh. I prefer his Pagans song though, got a bit of a Wu-Tang vibe.

youtube.com/watch?v=1n2cyZt5IDE

This is a *(hip hop that happened to be made in Britain) thread

youtube.com/watch?v=sOeUVPOyAzw

pards cant handle eski vibes lol

youtube.com/watch?v=dR2tSOXouGo

"pinnacle"?
do keep up with grime at all?
it keeps upping itself

>tfw kanye west pretty much ripped off a wiley devils mix on new slaves and pardners lapped it up as revolutionary

Similar sounding synth =/= ripping off

By your logic, every record using a 303 is a ripoff
