It's not about removing "memes" or specific threads. It takes people being proactive and committed to actually sharing music, listening to what other people have to say, taking suggestions of what to listen to seriously, discussing theory, gear, dissecting the emotions in music...etc. It takes people committing to actual discussion. That kind of positive thinking will lead to removal of some of the more toxic, superficial threads. Only if people are commited to actually changing this board.

I don't understand #4 or why you think one particular general should be allowed instead of all others, but overall I have to say you have laid out exactly the needed steps to make Sup Forums bearable.

The need for actual moderation is the most pressing. I know the mods are supposed to have a "don't step on the fun" attitude, but if there's not even going to be a basic enforcement of separation between boards, what's the point of having a music board at all?

I guess you're right on the generals. My thought process was that it was a musical instrument and not actual music but, if that was the case people would want generals for other instruments as well thus making Sup Forums one giant instrument general.

I think the music "creation" related generals have a good reason to exist and should continue to do so. It's mostly just the generals that serve no purpose other than to be a social club that need to go. I guess something like the classical music/music theory general that is around sometimes would have to stay as well.

If you don't put those kind of thing in generals, it just crowds the board with small threads that drop off quickly. But there's really no reason why this board should be getting 300 posts an hour about korean plastic surgery.
