a lot of amazing music this year.
kanye
car seat headrest
death grips
bowie
paul simon
chance the rapper
bon iver
frank ocean

Objectively for me the new ATCQ album

I agree

I liked TLOP more than most people did but I wouldn't even put it in the top 5.

Objectively this

Top 10 EPOTY

1. Nails - You'll Never B-1 of Us
2. Carly Rae Jepsen - Side B
3. Black Sabbath - The End
4. Charli XCX - Vroom Vroom
5. Die Antwoord - Suck On This
6. Massive Attack - Spirit/Spoils
7. The Wild Now - Tides
8. Krallice - Hyperion
9. Barghest - Teeth split
10. Widower - Unholy Oath

Over about 25 minutes is an LP, I don't care what the artist says. Previously released songs, remixes, etc. can be discounted for time qualification.

...

This was a sad year.
Top 5 in no order

>Pic Related

2016 trilogy of death

...

nah dude it's definitely AOTY lmao

meme music

meme poster

yeah I dont get it either. What I heard added nothing of value to the original but I only checked out a couple songs.

>i don't understand it
>therefore it's a meme

kys

This was my AOTY until pic related came out

blow me

or you could tell me what it adds of value

It added some super sinister vibes to the soundtrack that go along nicely with the really dark undertones of the show. As a massive Twin Peaks fan I loved it and the new context the music was put in

Yo wassup

ok but laura palmer's theme for example, wasnt that already sinister?

Yeah I agree it was. But a lot of the other songs on the original soundtrack aren't.
Don't get me wrong, I think the original is much better (it is one of my favorite albums ever), but I loved hearing the songs that I know and love played in a much different, but still good way. That grammar was poor but hopefully you see my point

...

>AHHHH FRANK SINATRA
^ worst song of the year

The correct answer OP is pic related

I'll keep going but I just finished laura palmer's theme and thought it was disgusting if not even insulting. It just added a drum metronome and what sounded like pots and pans. wow its fucking nothing

speaking of wow its fucking nothing

Hey yeah I mean I am super biased bc I am such a big fan of the show. It's definitely not for everyone

This and Nonagon have been on repeat all year for me.

>Objectively for me
Huh?

jesus christ what the fuck is this

yeah I'm gonna abort mission

Have you ever been listening to Pink Room and thought it was great but wished it sucked instead?

Packard's Vibration and Nightsea Wind are the only songs I don't like from it.

Pink Room is bretty gud

>Nonagon
>Been on repeat

1. 2. Tim Hecker - Love Streams
3. Frank Ocean - Blonde
4. Jenny Hval - Blood Bitch
5. Vektor - Terminal Redux
6. 7. Perturbator - The Uncanny Valley
8. 9. Wormrot - Voices
10. Sumerlands - s/t

I didn't listen to A Tribe Called Quest's record. I haven't listened to any of their music before.

But out of all the albums I did listen to this year, Blackstar was my favorite.

If were being honest with ourselves...
Blackstar was also bretty great IMO

ah fuck what look what I've done

also top ten

Nah. It was good, but it's too by the numbers, they weren't trying it on, some of it was dead.

Nonagon was so bad and repetitive. 12 Bar Bruise is much better

I really could not stand this album aside from If I Was a Folkstar

Too pleb for this record. I listened to it a few times and just can't get into it.

Is there a better Nick Cave record to start with than Skeleton Tree?

personal favorite. i can't be the only one.

>all these posts and no blonde

bunch of contrarian faggots ITT

...

Either Everything Feels Better Now by From Indian Lakes or 22, A Million by Bon Iver.

Murder Ballads
No More Shall We Part
Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus
Dig Lazarus Dig
all good starting points, work out from which ever one you pick

been a good year

Oh! Here's your (You)!

Have you heard all the original songs that Wildflower remixes?

But he's right, though.

AOTY

...

yeah I wanted to make a joke about having nonagon on repeat but I couldnt settle on one. I insist there's a good one in there somewhere though e.g. how do you know when the album starts over?

:^)𛲠

...

fuck I always forget Grandfeathered came out this year

kill yourself

Life of Pablo is good, but Yeezy lost it. This album looses it's direction to easily, if it had any in the beggining. Maybe in the top 20, but not top 5 of the year.

Naaaah. Not really. The only thing he got right is that Nonagon is repetitive, but as it should be obvious to anyone that that's the fundamental concept of the album, I'm not going to give him any plaudits for that. 12 Bar Bruise is a vastly inferior record on every single level, from concept to execution. I love it, but to say that it's as good as Nonagon Infinity, let alone better, just shows how fucking DadRock this place has become.

Kiddy Pool Dreams is disqualified though because it came out last year on a 10"

...

whats your aoty

no

>Two songs in and I already dislike
Meeeeeh

youtube.com/watch?v=ztVMib1T4T4

yeah I'm a sucker for this style and I couldnt stand t

it came out soooooooooo early and easily remained the bar for shoegaze/dream pop for the duration of the year

this one but im not him

yeah I'm a sucker for this style and I couldnt stand it

Did you hear that Cloakroom signed to veteran metal label Relapse

cloakroom.bandcamp.com/track/big-world-digital-single

it's ok it's not for everyone

hot damn, I had no idea
& this link to their BC page also informed me of a show in my area next month so good shit user

Top 3 for me are probably:
Blackstar
A Moon Shaped Pool
Elseq

British domination with black and white album covers

I dunno man, I guess I'm just way more into lofi pop than prog shit. 12 Bar Bruise is my favorite of theirs because of that

oh awesome glad I could help

>loli pop

>Elseq

spot the hipster

Lofi, not loli, you perv

hey fuck you

Fair Dos. Just remember pic related.

this is definitely in top 5 for sure

it's an extremely well produced album with a unique innovative sound, with a hint of satire.

Venomous Concept is half British and it came out the same day as Bowie

striking similarity seeing them next to each other

youtube.com/watch?v=IcYeRPtWi7A

Witch In Her Tomb - Meditations
Mortualia - Wild, Wild Misery
Yith - dread
Street Sects - End Position
Swans - The Glowing Man
Darkthrone - Arctic Thunder

in that order. i'm indifferent to everything else i've heard desu.

Progressive Rock AOTY coming through

nice freudian slip there

have a seat

>album art

>font

not general? whats your general aoty then?

I feel like this is exactly what the world needs:
Dream Theater is getting a digital board game based off of their latest album The Astonishing
It's in development right now and will be available soon for iOS and Android
as a free download with additional content available as in-app purchases.
Help the princess find her music player and save the kingdom from tyranny!

it's certainly not the person with three incredibly middle-of-the-road obvious choices

...

as the poster of I don't know if I should take offense or not

Did you read the Miranda Pitchfork review that just came out? I thought it was really good although I disagree with the score of course.
