The Queen Is Dead
Loveless
Person Pitch

#1. The Wall made me kill myself.

Loveless
Donuts
Madvilliany
The Queen Is Dead

About 15...never heard To Be Kind (I've only heard their albums from 1982-1996), the hugging foxes one or the lady holding a skull right next to it...oh and I haven't heard Blackstar, Plastic Beach and probably didn't hear that Vampire Weekend album but I bet it's the same as the two I did hear

...

What's the one you don't like?

Loveless

You used the wrong pic, OP.

Donuts, Homogenic, Blackstar, Madvilliany.

I've been meaning to listen to Kid A, Pet Sounds, and Queen Is Dead.

Plastic Beach was mediocre and I didn't like Trout Mask.

How have you never listened to Kid A?

>I've been meaning to listen to Kid A, Pet Sounds, and Queen Is Dead
What are you doing here?

these are good as well, I was considering adding de la soul and oasis

Having shit tastes, I assume.

I've been listening to a lot of other 'mu-core' stuff.

John Coltrain and Trout Mask are the most recent.

Just Blue Album...
give me one reason it's bad.

>Dissing Herbie Hancock

good joke but this is the only official shit list

do de, do de do de do de, do de, YE,UH, do de

????

24, and impressive bait

This is literally just your Top 40. Take it to /chart/.
Hancock isn't garbage, Head Hunters is.
Oh, so you're new. Welcome to Sup Forums. Enjoy your stay.
Wanna be a member of the GrimesCuckold?

OH, wait. I got it now.
Watermelon man reference.

>Madvillainy
>cLOUDDEAD

I've been on here for 4 months. Hell you've seen my chart before. I'm just slow when it comes to the Sup Forums stuff.

I've heard pieces FROM said albums but never the whole ones.

Also: NO!
THE ONLY BAD HERBIE ALBUM IS SEXTANT!

4 months is pretty new, user.

it's funny, because I bet if someone you are starting to know talks about one of the albums right there you are probably going to bitch that it is a really nice rec.

Fuck.

I'm sorry, I read this like 5 times. What are you saying?
I've been here since like 2012 and there are people who still call me new.

Is that in B.G. or A.G.?

(Before Grimes or After Grimes?)

I believe that pic is B.G. era Grimes, but don't quote me on that.

You shut your fucking mouth

19
Barely listen to them though

>Hancock isn't garbage, Head Hunters is.
Jesus how pretentious can you get

Why are they trash, because they're not immediately appealing to an autistic high schooler who knows everything about music?

Please get educated on the history of rock and pop music, and the artistic, technical, and musical innovations on The Velvets, Madvillainy, Daydream Nation, Bjork, Pet Sounds, Wire, cLOUDDEAD, My Bloody Valentine, and Trout Mask Replica.

Thank you.

Care to explain how I'm wrong? I'm a good listener.
>cLOUDDEAD
You were going so strong too.

>innovation
>meaning anything
go to bed, Scaruffi

Head Hunters is a great album and it truly made a huge impact on the jazz genre as a whole. Just because an album was hugely successful doesn't mean you have to hate it. Care to explain why it's garbage?

It's a great album. The hazy ambient atmospheres, the insane flows of glossolalia. It's a dreamy, incredibly left field hip hop album, that's catchy and masssive as all hell.

Musicians had cultural, technical, compositional, or instrumental ideas, and because of this they added to music as a whole. It's the reason we're not still listening to 1940's Schlager and easy listening today.

>they're not immediately appealing to an autistic high schooler who knows everything about music?
evidently, literally all of them are

>it truly made a huge impact on the jazz genre as a whole
What are you talking about? It influenced the shitty commercial jazz-funk wave that was becoming prevalent at the time right before jazz as a whole made its way out the door. It was basically a sell-out album. The only good thing that came out of jazz-funk was its influence on hip hop and its large array of sample-worthy phrases. Their delivery is awful, the album isn't cohesive, and it's cluttered with meandering.

>Their delivery is awful, the album isn't cohesive, and it's cluttered with meandering.
This was meant for

>It influenced the shitty commercial jazz-funk
but it influenced something

The whole discussion, all three of the charts posted in this thread, seems to be focusing on albums that anons here consider the boring-est.

One chart has the 13th Floor Elevators, the guys who invented Psychedelia, butI can imagine an uneducated pitchfork-ian blowing off in a minute. Meme rap and poptimism has ruined this board.

I'll agree that album could be called "meandering", but I suppose it's completely personal if the "throw everything to the wall and see what sticks" approach isn't for you. I personally love how dada and surreal the whole experience is.

The album is also a bit cluttered, but I think that's an interesting part of the album. The vocal are mixed very low and indecipherably, so you have to play your speakers extremely loud and let the waves of hypnagogic fuzz wash over you.

> It influenced the shitty commercial jazz-funk wave
>implying the jazz-funk wave wasn't one of the best waves of jazz
Stick to listening to art angels you fucking pleb

I never said it didn't. If it influenced shitty music to sound the way it does, wouldn't it be better to not exist?

>The whole discussion, all three of the charts posted in this thread, seems to be focusing on
Sup Forumscore. stuff most people on here like, and most people on here are autistic high schoolers who knows everything about music. it's just bait i wouldn't be surprised if op or grimescuck actually liked those albums and just tried to get replies

16, nice list op

>implying the best jazz isn't European free jazz and post-bop
Jazz-funk is literal trite shit. Top plen.
No, I seriously dislike (or find to be mediocre) every album in that chart.

no, not at all. there's a place for all sorts of music and i'm glad all of it exists, even whatever i don't personally like. this isn't politics or education or something, there's no "bad influence"

>European free jazz
So you really are a pretentious fuck

Just because it's bait doesn't mean the OP doesn't mean it.

All over the internet, from Sup Forums to FULLCOMMUNISM and beyond, people are insecure and unsure about their shitty and poorly thought out opinions. So they dress it up in irony, and get to further their opinions without taking responsibility for them.

>Jazz-funk is literal trite shit
...I was on your side till ya said that.
How could you hurt me like this? I even said nice things about your chart once.

Synths don't belong in jazz. That's not a "it's not REAL jazz" kinda statement either, it just sounds like shit.
Good general point, but that's what this thread's about.
So, you really are a pleb.

>that's what
that's not what*
Jesus, what is up with my typing right now?

Lonesome Crowded West (10)
Weezer (9)
cLOUDDEAD (9)
To Be Kind (9)
I Can Hear The Hearts Beating As One (8)
Turn On The Bright Lights (8)
Daydream Nation (8)

Your autism is showing tripfriend

>Synths don't belong in jazz
>Synths not belonging

YA DID IT AGAIN. You hurt me.

Sorry, user. I hate to hurt my fans. We can't agree everything, right?
Are you going to actually argue a point to me, or do you only know how to post memes?

protip: jazz is just a word, it doesn't mean anything. It's not set in stone like some sort of religion that you are a priest of.

>We can't agree everything, right?
Fair point. I just love synths.

(Stevie Wonder and Hancock are my favorites for a reason)

Aren't all your post memes too? Or at least I hope they are

Jazz is soulfully improvised horn music, you can't improvise soulfully on a 1970's casio. Headhunters is more funk to be honest.

(Technically artists such as Klaus Schulze and Annette Peacock did, as well as many people in the ambient tradition, but in a much more organic and boundary pushing way.)

okay okay but soulful is really just a word, it doesn't mean anything

Synths are the most contextual instrument. They enhance certain genres and ruin others.
I am a meme, user.

About 6

I haven't listened to any of them, so none.

Jazz requires a subtlety and depth in it's performance to express the players emotion, and melodic synths at the time just weren't capable of that.

(Again, when you layer them such as in Krautrock that is a different story, but that's not the case.)

13

Basically this.

7

Fuckin a you like the white stripes and blur but not my bloody valentine. Ugh

>Beat happening
Ok u win i mad
Fite me

like 13, most of their crime is literally just being entry level but still good

Madvillainy
Donuts
Plastic Beach

6, maybe 8 max

the one with The old lady and The skull is called Mount Eerie by the Microphones.

its fuckin great

definitely listen to it

I love Unknown Pleasures.
I really like To Be Kind.
I like Lift Yr Skinny Fists and Endtroducing.
I kinda like The Lonesome Crowded West, Madvillainy, Donuts, Turn On The Bright Lights, Kid A and Loveless.

Only a minority of these are shitty. Daily reminder that critical reception doesn't change the actual content of anything.

27

Most of them are good desu

12

>I love Unknown Pleasures
How unfortunate for your taste. The bottom line is completely true though.

27

fuck all ya'll HA HAAAAAA

just piss off

Why don't you just listen to Closer? They improve on the mistakes they debuted with. :^)

5, but I haven't listened to most of them.

>that chart
>voidwards
100% agreed, I was expecting a masterpiece and I felt nothing the entire album

hmm i think i accidentally stumbled on the great music thread

but the thread title says shit music
...strange...

I can't stand Modest Mouse, Beck, Gorillaz, Björk, and Vampire Weekend

The Smiths I haven't listened to

The rest I like

Most of them desu

Nobody saying "I can hear the Heart..."
How disapointing. Your taste is shit anyway.
