Thread generals are getting out of control. They are increasing slowly to which we have to ask, what's the point in having an international board if everyone is going to lock themselves in thread generals.

Generals are great for learning languages though, and that's supposed to be a big part of this board. Everybody seems to forget that when they complain about generals, this board is for culture discussions but also languages, it's right there in the sticky.

The problem I have with generals is that they fill up the first two pages and doom any interesting threads (yes there are interesting threads every once in a while) to die.

That's a good point, but also a good argument that /cum/ should be outright purged from this board. There is literally no reason for America and Canada to have a general on an American website. At least with /brit/ I've learned a lot of British slang and vocab that I wouldn't otherwise know, even if it's all just shitposting, so it has some redeeming value.

That's just a meme, if you filter all the generals that you don't want to participate in (which is piss easy) there are tons of 100 to 200 reply non general threads a day.
