so i guess if u went to see him and felt like he hated u for being there, u didnt imagine it

>America has always ‘been’ Donald Trump. Donald Trump is just an American without the fourth wall.

wisdom

>I made up a slang word years ago, and I’ve heard it said by someone else, someone I don’t know. It’s ‘Claf’. ‘C-L- A-F’. A Claf is just an idiot. Claf sounds like an idiot. Claf.

any finland man in
probably going studying in turku for a few months in the near future
there any decent scene there?

moomin-land is sick

Lads, how do you pronounce 'garage'?

garridge

this is something I'd expect yamaneko to slip into his sets.

>South has a different pronunciation or accent.
^^^^^^
I always talk about the huge difference between London's accents and none of my uni mates understand what I'm on about, for them there's only posh, black and "cockney"

when chav girls speak in that "Northern" accent it gives me a boner tbqh sounds so dainty

fuck off you claf

youtube.com/watch?v=C0_1g5FVYAc

probably my favourite tune on the album to be fair

youtube.com/watch?v=d7wCAJ3V--E

Now this is a music video

faraash

There is some underground scene as far as I know. There was a techno club called Paino but they had to quit regular nightclub activity because their rental contract ended. People behind Paino still organize events as far as I know. Not from Turku so I can't say for sure.

Helsinki is not far away though, the scene is very alive in there.

please lads listen to my electro mix

soundcloud.com/anne-lewis-slr/dj-amar-menduu-watch-the-snare

24 plays in 3 days on the mix i've done so far is making me cry myself to sleep every damn night.

If you see Antti tell him to pack the techno in and start making UK Bass again.

>on the mix i've done so far
*best

>UK Bass
please die.

okay...

youtube.com/watch?v=Ji8MJSjJ_Ag

that's just grime

Alright mate. Don't go all Sup Forums on me.

youtube.com/watch?v=WNZrAS5OML0

Do you recognize this man?
What would you expect if he played at your party?

that's just grime tho
"UK Bass" is not a thing.
Or rather it may well be a thing, but the term doesn't really mean anything.

Yeah, no shit. What do you want me to call it, bass music or whatever? Who gives a shit really.

>the term doesn't really mean anything
It obviously does, since a lot of people use the term and understand what it means.

Maybe what you mean to say is
>I don't like the term "UK Bass" because it doesn't delineate a clear genre boundary

it's just grime senpai

Hopefully some footwork like back in the day
youtube.com/watch?v=OsvlMPJyxTg

Yeah, but I'm talking about UK Bass.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_music

sterile genre debates lmao

Which is why I said it reminds me of Sup Forums, literally who gives a shit. It's like Sup Forums whining about IDM and taking genre names completely literally. It's just a method to group similar music together, it's not a big deal.

any lonely man in

I don't like the term UK Bass because it equally refers to acid house, hardcore, jungle, garage, bassline, dubstep, grime and this techno fusion thing which doesn't actually have a name.

Basically, this is uk bass:
youtube.com/watch?v=WTsHWzvJWDQ
This too:
youtube.com/watch?v=xI8S1Nn6NRk
And this, naturally:
youtube.com/watch?v=z0cV9p2-VOg
Here more uk bass:
youtube.com/watch?v=sc5MYyoExHo

The term "uk bass" sure is useful and tells us so much about the music, doesn't it?

literally none of this is 'uk bass', heartbroken and morgue? are you serious?

i've only ever heard the term applied to the weird techno/dubstep hybrid that labels like hessle were pushing out years back

I think you're a bit misguided by it.

UK Bass is the catch-all term for post dubstep era music, most of what you posted there came out waaaay before UK Bass was a thing. I think it's a useful term as it creates a distinction between the more "pure" dubstep/grime era music and the mish mash of genres that came out like funky and "post-dubstep" put forward by Keysound/Hessle/Hemlock/Night Slugs etc. I mean to me it just makes sense. Like if I had to sum up "UK Bass" in an artist it would be someone like Beneath. A mixture of all kinds of influences and genres but with a foundation of UK music.

youtube.com/watch?v=PqNcKarPK4k

just to reiterate, you are very wrong indeed

>I don't like the term UK Bass because it equally refers to acid house, hardcore, jungle, garage, bassline, dubstep, grime and this techno fusion thing which doesn't actually have a name.
A shorter way to say this is
>I don't like the term "UK Bass" because it doesn't delineate a clear genre boundary

it's from the uk and has lots of bass in it, so why wouldn't it be uk bass?
Also, how come you don't recognize that SL2 tune?

Just to reiterate, you sound like you're a cheap Simon Reynolds imitation when you say "uk bass". At least go full price and call it something that has 'nuum in it.

It really doesn't make sense, because you seem to have a very limited idea of what dubstep or grime are. Most things you called "uk bass" so far were just slightly less straightforward grime and dubstep, that specific tune is no exception.
People talked about that literally yesterday.

I have an even better way to say this:
>I don't like the term uk bass, because it doesn't actually tell you anything about the music.

It's just a term for American music "critics" to shove shit into boxes.

Just get a train to helsinki t b h
we get some good nights every once inna while

pitchfork.com/features/grime-dubstep/7965-grime-dubstep/

Blackdown explains it better than I probably could. Give this a read

>it's from the uk and has lots of bass in it, so why wouldn't it be uk bass?
because semantics, basically. i don't like the term any more than you, but i've never, ever heard it applied to anything other than what mentioned. other than americans taking the term literally, the same as "it's from the uk and has bass"

don't recognise the sl2 tune because i was never into hardcore

>it's from the uk and has lots of bass in it, so why wouldn't it be uk bass?
You're right. That's why I refuse to say that Frankie Knuckles was a house DJ, as he didn't play his music in houses.

He did actually.
The paradise garage was located inside a house.

lmao you just got parred by the most Stuart Little trip family, time to end it

>The paradise garage was located inside a house.

u wot...
The clue's literally in the name

That's precisely why I call all so-called "garage" music house music, as it originated in a house (called Paradise Garage).

u daft dingo

people called it uk bass at the time as well though, usually with a shrug and an apology regarding how much they hate the term. at this point it refers to a period more than a genre, its nice in that it reflects the sense of openness of the time, nobody would argue with you that it means nothing in and of itself

You're absolutely right.
Blackdown explains it much better than I ever could.

And he also shares my conclusion:
It's not actually important if the dj knows what he's doing, now fuck off and go dance.

anyone got some Chicago Sample ? i call it like that cos it comes from chicago and uses a lot of samples haha

youtube.com/watch?v=kXilKfBndSg

you got a bad attitude

ngl bit peeved fabric arent giving me more props for being too lazy to cancel my fabricfirst subscription. i want a goody bag or a free event or something

innit man they got about £100k left over still

Looooool one of the conditions fabric agreed to in order to have their club back to play shitty """U.K. Bass""" music and tech house is to allow US army be security during ever night

You think those are lasers blasting you during Ben UFO?

No. those are Us snipers in the rafters lls

Lool I'm creasing. But nah senpai I'm more of a metal fan myself.
youtube.com/watch?v=wU4UgHX_QBY
