if that map was correct more than 50% of finns and estonians would speak swedish
as always these maps are exagerated. You kind of have to if you do not want to make minority languages invisible

That map is retarded. In Finland it shows where Swedish has some speakers even if they are not the majority. In Sweden and Norway it shows how the language and dialect borders were 100 years ago even if Northern Sweden and Norway are now mostly Swedish and Norwegian speaking. In Germany it also shows dialect borders from 100 years back but modern day Poland is ignored while France isn't. The map also forgot that English is a Germanic language.
Areas that shouldn't be colored are colored and areas that should be colored aren't. No consistency what so ever, nolla kautta viis

Not true at all for Germany. The only people who say this in Germany are snobbish city folks.
If I'm on vacation an meet other Germany my age (around 20) you can instantly hear where they are from and most of them can speak their regional dialect (although in differing level, some speak more basic dialect some know their more). It's a good talking topic too.
