Why the hell is Bavaria about the only German state that non Germans know about? I don't even know why they're semi famous, I just know they are. And why do a lot of Germans seem to hate Bavaria?

Because of the cool flag? The only other one I can even vaguely remember is Alsace Lorraine no idea why
When you picture Germany in your mind , most people think of Bavaria, their culture, food, drink, and architecture.
Other Germans don't like Bavaria because they are jealous, but they won't admit it so they they hate on Bavaria.
I lived in Bavaria for 5 years, it was very nice.
Because it was in the US occupation zone, so depicting Bavaria as Germany was spread by Hollywood.
>why the hate
Because they are smugs, they have their "free state of Bavaria" so they always want to have their own saying in everything. They have their own party within the christian democratic party and their own leader.
They have the "Mia san mia" mentality, meaning we do it how we want it. They just like to oppose against the prussian parts of Germany.
They are seperatists.
And this But I think americanization is worse in the south-west.
Isn't Oktoberfest related with Bavaria though?
Yes but it would've gotten nearly as popular worldwide if Americans didn't hype it up so much.
>most people think of Bavaria, their culture, food, drink, and architecture
About culture, food and drink you might be right, but the most well-known element of German architecture is probably the Fachwerkhaus and those don't really exist in Bavaria.
Because only Bavaria exports its culture for $9.99 made in China
Most of the buildings that looked like that were businesses, not many houses look like that in Bavaria.
>not many houses look like that in Bavaria
Yeah, Bavarian towns look more like this (pic related). But that's not the style of architecture that people think of when you ask them about typical German architecture.
Jealousy and hiding behind the "bavarians are smug and hate foreigners" meme
Rhenanie & Saxe, which make two more!
Bavarian culture only culture
Friendly reminder that Bavarians are not white.
Wow rude, I thought Austrians were bros with Bavarians.
that's more an Austrian thing surely
Because they are the most interesting with the nicest cities
honestly i've only been to bavaria. gone to oktoberfest a couple times and then went to visit a friend in munich over the summer once
what's the rest of germany like? is it really any different?
this.
Also most people here don't really think that foreigners would give a fuck about their federal states.
because they always brag about their attention, that's why they are alway seen as arrogant.
t. Hessian
yes, it is. Berlin and bavaria are pretty different, on the other hand Bavaria and BaWü aren't that different in my opinion, but they are neighbour states so that's why I guess.

is that the former roman part of Germany? It shows.
The romans were deep into the german territory up to cologne.

Yes, this is roman architecture ... very late roman though
>Houses that looks like most of Europa from the time peroid they where build.
>Must be Roman.
Brick houses in rows doesn't really have anything to do with Roman house-building.
The houses have a lot of the same features as you would see in your normal Roman apartment-row.
The whole having a workshop or restaurant on the ground floor is just a super convenient way of building.
What does Borussia means lads?
>Borussia
Latin for Prussia
>Fachwerkhaus and those don't really exist in Bavaria.

They really like English people so they are good in my book desu
Sadly, yes.
I don't think that there's too much direct Roman influence, but Bavarian/Austrian architecture already has certain tendencies towards Italian architecture: de.wikipedia.org
Ich hab eher Altbayern gemeint.
