We're having some listenalongs the week leading up to Christmas.
It starts on 17th and ends on 24th. We'll be playing the albums/EPs in the order as shown in the pic, every day at 4 and 5PM EST. If anyone has any objections or wants to make any changes, I am all ears.
Yo, give me some shoegaze or dream pop that isn't just trying to be like MBV.
Jonathan Bailey
Also, is there any shoegaze that uses synths a lot?
William Murphy
sarrasine. should be free on bandcamp
Levi Campbell
Dead cities is the synthiest
Sebastian Ramirez
The Verve EP
Camden Murphy
I think A Sunny Day in Glasgow uses a lot of synths and they're good and don't really sound like anyone else and I think they're shoegaze even though they don't.
Kayden Johnson
I just listened to EP2 and really liked it. Thanks, man.
I tried to listen to Dead Cities and it didn't do anything for me. Maybe I'll try again.
I'll probably check out those others, too.
I'll check these out too, thanks.
Owen Diaz
Just found out about this pedal. Anyone either have it or know some shoegaze bands that have used it? Probably going to pick one up soon, that flute setting in particular just demands to find a home in some lush wave of guitar noise.
worst meme ever, get the fuck off this board with that too obscure bullshit
James Long
youtube.com/watch?v=0mcE-PsiAC8 Holy SHIT I did not know this song existed (Cocteau Twins - Dials). It's easily one of the prettiest pieces of music I've ever heard.
Ethan Powell
This whole EP was really good. I wish they recorded more/still played.
Ringo Deathstarr, Nothing and No Joy are my current favs.
Colton Cook
They're aight, No Joy is the only real great one out of those bands
Parker Ward
Shit, I'm digging this hard, boyo.
Samuel Davis
The only thing Nothing really has going for them is quality songwriting. If they got somebody that was a guitar wizard or really into tweaking with gear/tone they could be great.
Still, I bought their latest album and would pay to see them live. Wanna ask Nick Basset if he was the cunt running whirr's Facebook page and laugh about it.
Jose Bennett
I like it!
Nathaniel Walker
this is good bout to download this cunt
Jeremiah Lopez
...
Isaac Morgan
Nice share! I love this album. The part in melt when the riff from house full of time comes back is one of my favourite moments in shoegaze
Sebastian Taylor
Why haven't you listened to the greatest recent shoegaze album yet?
Tyler Peterson
>She takes me out >To the heart of it >Lost in the swell of the street >It can hit all the notes >We agree >But the city itself >Needs to breathe

Anything good from 2016 that I might have missed?
Not big stuff like PSUB or Japanese Breakfast, I mean something that largely flew under the radar that's worth checking out.
Carson Morris
Anyone got a MEGA link for this? One in the archive is dead.
Landon Thompson
seriously this is the pinnacle of modern shoegaze
Matthew Parker
i think i was the only one that listened to this
Samuel Cooper
Oh yeah I listened to that too, pretty good.
Of course I found it in /shugazi/ so there's a good chance I got it from your rec anyway. Thanks senpai.
Evan Bell
did you listen to this?
Brayden James
Hey did everyone listen to this like they should have?
Jason Anderson
No one did pal
Jeremiah Morales
>limiting yourself to just a few records ain't even really shoegaze, more like emo with shoegaze influence. Still a great record but doesn't matter in the shugazi genre... hahahahah
yall are straight up fools smdh
Lucas Davis
Hey there /shugazi/. I went through my folders and collected some albums that came out this year that were pretty much never mentioned here and I think you'd enjoy them. I took stuff I didn't see mentioned in /shugazi/ so I hope you guys enjoy.

Shoegaze for this feel?
Connor Thomas

Jackson King

Eli Clark
>ENDLESS LIFE
Isaac Collins
nice, thanks
Landon Barnes
Okay, how about this: I just play the albums every one/two hours (depending on how long they are) starting at 4PM EST
i cant find the RV-7 anywhere, whats a good alternative?
Ian Gonzalez
I agree that it was a great EP.
The lead guitarist/producer and the lead singer reformed as Dissolve and released another (slightly overpriced) EP. I didn't like it as much as Modern Charms.
Havent even listened to any of these yet but i havent heard of most of these bands so im sure i will find something to enjoy. Thank you for sharing!
Nicholas Reyes
Whirr
Jonathan Turner
Check out Cresca. Its my friends band. They're all nonbinary/trans. I coined the term "queergaze" to describe them the best i can. Have fun! crescaband.bandcamp.com/album/cresca-ii
Jose Walker
Shoegaze is for everyone (except plebs)
Camden Murphy
Underrated post
Isaiah Cook
Whirr is a good choice desu They're the most annoying band in years
Aaron Cook
>They're the most annoying band in years t. tumblr/facebook/twitter Cindy Lee, it's literally a man dressed up as a woman
Cooper Martin
>Cindy Lee patrician
Listen to Women too
Jaxon Edwards
Yeah so is Pat Flegel trans now or is Cindy Lee like a character/concept?
Jace Sanchez
pretty sure it's just a concept he goes by the name lady woland when he's in character
Landon Thomas
Yo, where do I go for the most complex shoegaze layering? I am not talking like the MBV Guitar+synth+random static noise thing but like how Catherine Wheel has some tracks where they are playing they are playing three different guitar parts and it's actually kinda complex but since it's shoegaze it just kinda sucks you in rather than the more alienating feel you get from such ambition in other genres.
So yeah, tldr more shoegaze like some of the songs by Catherine Wheel where they have a lot of simultaneous guitar parts.
Matthew Myers
listen to women
Gabriel Carter
I found these guys a few over the summer. Their new album is killer and I fucking love this song. youtube.com/watch?v=4oGeSegB880
