Post your 2016 AOTY
That was a good record, but I felt as though it had the potential to be a lot better. Whatever, Wriggle scratched my clipping itch enough so that this was not an entire dissapointment
For me, it has got to be Gensho
>aoty
The Astonishing
>runner up
Miranda Lambert
>honorable mention
Child Bite - Negative Noise
honorable mentions:
Insomnium - Winter's Gate
Frank Ocean - Blonde
Travis Scott - Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight

that's more or less it.
>bad bad not good
an apt description desu
eggsplain yourself
As someone who actually finds himself enjoying some jazz here and there, I found BBNGs latest effort to be unlistenable. Musically dull, which is generally hard to do with jazz.
>but they are a le hip hop group
even so, some DJ could sample much better jazz than them, and it would sound better.
all in all the album was bad bad not good
This album really grew on me as the year passed.
>Mild High Club
My nigga
>some DJ could sample much better jazz than them, and it would sound better.
Wut
I literally don't understand this criteria at all if I'm even understanding your point.
It's bad jazz and bad hip hop. That's my point. It fails at being good hip hop because a DJ could do better, it fails at being good jazz because the solos lack emotion or depth.
>because a DJ could do better
Literally what
Bbng are original compositions, yes?
I seriously have absolutely zero idea what the correlation is between bbnv 4 and a "dj"
Yes, and as noted in the criticism of their "Jazz" section, their original compositions are dull
Compared to?
smash mouth
...
Do you think it means anything that he added a period at the end of the title?
We Cool? Had a question mark, so idk
I guess it has to be...
Fuuuuuuuuu
Any jazz ever.
Maybe it's more of a statement than a title? Iunno...
Did you hear her new song with Massive Attack?
Holy shit, preach the controversy
The Spoils? Aye, gorgeous track...hope they continue collabing
See
It could be that he's trying to make it an imperative verb instead of a noun, which would be communicating with somebody else (possibly the listener) rather than describing the album.
That'd be so crazy. I guess my big wish list from this year would be Jesu/SKM. I really think they're on to something.
>AOTY
Skeleton Tree - Nick Cave and the bad seeds
>Runner up
Telephone - Noname
Only song I like in that album is Speaking Gently. The rest is easily forgettable
Cornish/Welsh folk punk
youtube.com
plus it has a track called Hey Girl Let's Meme
...
>sound of ceres
Right back at you
...
...
this or the new Rome
Radiohead is AOTY, but the top row of this collage are all AOTY-worthy albums.
>no solange
>no tribe
>no beyonce
>no kanye
>no chance
I pretty much agree with the rest of this, or the ones I've heard at least. I didn't love Skeleton Tree, but I think that's really just not my kind of music.
>this video is not available
Solange is basically Interludes: The Album. I know the statement she's trying to make, but it gets in the way of the actual music, some of which is pretty damn great.
Tribe is good but i think people are seriously getting carried away with it being "as good as their first 3 albums". it's good but not THAT good.
Beyonce is a 6/10. Which still makes it her best work by light years.
TLOP is... weird. it's a disaster of an album that happens to include 4 or 5 of the best songs he's ever made.
Coloring Book is 2nd only to Painting With for biggest disappointment of the year. That shit is just way too fucking cheesy.
Honestly, could you be any more basic?
>being this much of a drone
...
Does it feel good disagreeing with everyone about everything?
sometimes. depends who i'm arguing with.
the people who think that A Seat at the Table or Lemonade are AOTY because of the statements they make are flat-out wrong and don't actually care about music.
I didn't listen to much this year
surely b8
nobody can be THIS clueless
BLONDE
BLONDE
BLONDE
was it the only album you heard in 2016? it was basically a compilation of old songs
...
sure, my list could've looked like
...
lol
I agree, I mostly thought you were all wrong about Chance. Also, I don't really think TLOP is a disaster of an album. Sure it has some bad songs, but the crazy, chaotic structure combined with the empty spaces gospel feeling was great imo
...
...
And?
Nah dude, it was a "reimagination" of old songs.
im pretty sure it was the exact songs but with no percussion in the mix
...
I wasn't big on this one compared to their last few releases, but the couple of singles they've put out since have been good
Seconding this, I got tickets to their gig in Manchester for free after they moved Death Grips from academy 1 to academy 3, hadn't heard about them before that but they're definitely becoming my one of my favourites.
Would you happen to know what any of the movie samples are from?
Just heard this for the first time, really digging it
...
haha what is this some kind of neofolk parody band?
For more industrial noise rock/metal this year check out Surgical Meth Machine and oVo - Creatura although neither are as solid as Street Sects who put on a surprisingly terrifying live show
Yes, but that's not all they did. Some songs have weird noisy breakdowns. Plus when you add in the merzbow[how the album is intented to be listened to] the songs are completely transformed.
you're meant to play the merzbow at the same time?
Yes you friccin goober!
I like this guy
elseq is s'good

do literally have autism?
if you can't see how the meaning of a word evolves over time as is the nature of an organic method of communication such as L - A - N -G - U -A - G -E it's not surprising that you don't understand why I said you literally posted the same top 10 as pitchfork
let me break it down for you
literally
ˈlJt(ə)rəli/

i was obviously saying that you literally have the same shit taste as every literally shit critic on pitchfork as you literally posted the same utter shite they literally posted in their list so you literally have bad taste and literally don't know it which astounds me as i literally just told you that you have abhorrent taste on par with only literal retards and pseudo intellectuals such as yourself
you're not smart
you don't have good taste
you aren't better than anyone
you're not even better than yourself
