Post the best
>I’m forever near a stereo saying, ‘What the fuck is this garbage?’ And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

RHCP wasn't so bad though they went downhill.

"We hate Slowdive more than we hate Adolf Hitler" because of pic related

And Noel Gallagher's "Man with a fork in a world of soup" about his brother comes to mind, if inter-band insults count

>inb4 "stupid and retarded" episode
Ariel Pink apologized for that. Moving on.

Someone, post Stockhausen on Richard D. James

there's like very specific aspect of ariel pink which makes me unable to enjoy his music. i get that a bit with mac demarco too.

He's kinda a jerk, but he doesn't seem a genuinely evil person.

It's mostly just all a show anyway

it's not that he's evil. it just feels like there's something off there.

>I don't know who or what it was [that inspired Metallica], but if it was me, I fucked up.

Mozart: "Clementi is a charlatan, like all Italians".

Mozart, more like BTFOzart
Keith's a more talented, wittier and funnier Noel Gallagher

I heard the piece Aphex Twin of Richard James carefully: I think it would be very helpful if he listens to my work Song Of The Youth, which is electronic music, and a young boy’s voice singing with himself. Because he would then immediately stop with all these post-African repetitions, and he would look for changing tempi and changing rhythms, and he would not allow to repeat any rhythm if it were varied to some extent and if it did not have a direction in its sequence of variations.

oi i fockin love Keef

he's just a fucking music nerd, they're the worst.

Aphex Twin's answer: "I thought he should listen to a couple of tracks of mine: "Digeridoo", then he'd stop making abstract, random patterns you can't dance to"

Apparently he didn't get the memo that stated that what makes music attractive is the repetition.

>i get that a bit with mac demarco too
why?
he seems to be a very cool and nice guy

>post African repetitions

what did he mean by this

Loops

*intra

What a fucking pleb.

Fuck I wrote intra and went back changed it.
Can never remember which ones which

idk. it's like i listen to his music and i get chilled in this really uncomfortable way.

>he didn't capitalise Grimes

WTF I love nick cave now

>not loving Nick Cave already

>not already loving Nick Cave
If you're serious
Start with the Birthday Party Mutiny/Bad Seed album

probably when Grimes called out Ariel Pink as the cishet rapist he is

well i suppose it depends on what you consider a cool a chill dude desu like i don't think it's cool to film your best friend jerking off in front of a bunch of teenagers but a lot of people think that's funny, so idk

Thanks lad, gonna check it

>They’re a joke aren’t they? It’s just lots of middle class people applauding a bunch of guys who act stupid and write really primitive music. Then people say ‘oh it’s so honest

Thom Yorke on Oasis.

Aphex Twin: I don’t like Radiohead. I heard maybe five or six tracks and I thought they sounded really really cheesy.
Cheesy?
Yeah, really obvious and cheesy. I mean I’m just comparing it to my favourite music and I think it’s terrible compared to that. But compared to all the shit boring R&B tracks it’s probably alright. Compared to those teen punk sort of bands or whatever they are supposed to be called, who think that they are really anarchic and stuff like that, they are probably amazing. If you’re only exposed to that kind of stuff and then Radiohead come along you will probably think that they are geniuses.

Based Thom

based thomas

He's not really wrong, most people who worship Radiohead have been exposed to a lot of music for the lowest common demominator. But I would only classify Radiohead's stuff from Pablo Honey or The Bends as cheesy, it matured a lot from OK Computer onwards.

He said that there was no direction to his sequence of variations...not that repetition was bad...

That's probably the most accurate thing anyone has ever said about Oasis

kek

What would you say is music for the lowest common denominator

your favourite band

I hate that ted talk
since when is art about attraction ffs

Most mainstream music

>TEDx

dropped

"The Cars were radio safe. Candified new wave and insipid lyrics drooling over the Yoni. We had content and that's why we were the pionners who got scalped. But we remained relevant, the Cars did not."

>She’s an ugly fucking bitch.

He literally said that about Courtney Love.

> "A patchwork pinch loaf from a band who at their top dollar best are blandly entertaining college rock. Their willingness to be 'guided' by their manager, their record company and their producers is unparalleled. Never have I seen four cows more anxious to be led around by their nose rings."

Steve Albini on the Pixies

Steve Albini on Odd Future

>My band shared an airport shuttle with them in Barcelona. They piled onto the shuttle late, after finally getting corralled by their minder, who was nursing a head wound with an ice bag wrapped in a towel. They piled in, niggering everything in sight, motherfucking the driver, boasting into the air unbidden about getting their dicks sucked and calling everyone in the area a faggot. Then one of them lit a joint (or a pipe, I didn't look) and told the driver to shut the fuck up nigger and smoked it anyway. A female passenger tried to engage one of them in conversation, but he just stared at her with a dead-to-me stare while his seatmate flipped double birds in her face.

>The whole trip they complained about not being at a McDonalds and repeatedly shouted for the motherfucker to pull over so they could get some fucking McDonalds nigger. Interspersed with the McDonalds requests were shouted boasts about how often they masturbated and fucked bitches nigger and got paid like a motherfucker fifty grand like a motherfucker. They continued complaining that the trip was taking too long and insisted they be fed immediately all the way to the airport, where their minder presumably fed them.

>I am quite happy none of them engaged me directly, because at least one of us would have regretted it.

I love this one because he says their producers, by which he means himself.

"John Lennon sings about peace because he’s a woman-beater. Hippies are so full of shit."

Ah yes, the good old fashioned "white guys says nigger instead of nigga because 'it's the same thing'"

man, yall, dont do this, only do it if you want to do it purely because you just want to say nigger. dont fucking lie to yourself

Steve and Kieth are fucking goldmines for this thread.

A classic

>"I'm not Prince or Rivers Cuomo, who brags about having hundreds of great songs. Prince, if you have a hundred great songs or a thousand, how about picking a few and putting them on your record that you've put out, because your last several have sucked.' Same for you, Rivers. I say that constructively, you know."

apologize? more like passive-aggressivness in 120 characters

>Some bathroom agent looking guy snoozing a trail of coke and then under a insipid suit trying to teach me how to strum the chords of my fucking guitar? I say no more than "Get outta here you spastic, and get your white ass away from my band".
-Miles Davis on Elvis Presley, 1970

Jesus. The first half of that was nice and well-paid, but that second half was pure elitist Sup Forums cringe

>"It's one thing if you know your place, like, 'Hey, I'm an idiot who plays shitty music, but people buy it, fuck it, I'm having fun'. But it's another thing when you think you're David Bowie after staying up all night to write a song called 'Break Stuff'. I mean, Fred Durst probably spelt the word 'break' wrong the first couple of times."

>Not already accepting Nick Cave as your lord and saviour

butthurt nigger detected. that was fucking hilarious, and probably accurate. I dont think Albini thought it was that big of a deal, just found it annoying.

agree

kek

I'm racialqueer actually

Say what you will, but Ariel called Grimes "the female version of him" at the same interview where he insulted her. I don't believe he actually hated her, he was just annoyed about some of her statements.

...

He looks better than Grimes

I hope Thom didn't read that, Aphex Twin was a huge inspiration for him.

I'm sure it was just bantz. He collaborated with Jonny even.

I don't really know how John Lennon got away with writing all the preachy shit he did while other artists get criticized whenever they dare to touch subjects like homeless people, poverty, injustice and stuff like that.

he was a gov't con artist all along

He was a huge cultural icon; he could pretty much say whatever he wanted and still be relevant
