Root Canal

Well financially thats gonna kill me, but why?

Root canal. You should never remove any of your teeth unless you plan on getting an inplant or wearing a denture in its place. Your bite, teeth, and jaw will shift and you will look like a retard.

Well its in a spot no one would see.. but whats the general cost of an implant?

Why don't you get Obamacare? A root canal is like $250-300

My family doesn't qualify for some reason. They gave us the run around the entire time we were trying to enroll.

You have plenty of other teeth. Take it out.

just get extration who gives a fuck

See thats what I initially was planning. I mean I'll lose them all when im 80 anyways right?

All your teeth are in line and set in place. You move one and EVERY tooth in your mouth begins to shift. The one above the tooth you remove will raise out to make up the gap and your bottom teeth will all spread apart. As a human who eats solid food, removing a molar should be your absolute "I'm going to literally die if I don't get this removed" decision. Don't do it, find a way to get a root canal. Have you tried dental schools in your area?

yea and if at anypoint u can afford it u can put an implant or some shit

You are not 80. Loosing teeth is a last resort.

Everyone qualifies, the monthly cost is just income based. Just sign up for it yourself. I was in the same spot as you. Root canal cost me $300.

Find a dentist who practices dental telepathy

It won't hurt a bit

Root canal: $1200
Implant:$2500-5000
Orthodontics to reset teeth to fit an implant after you went a long period of time without a tooth that was supposed to be there: $6000-8000.

Don't cheap out on your teeth bro. You'll regret it for the rest of your life.

Missing one tooth isn't going to ruin your life. I got a root canal and they fucked it up twice nothing but pain and sorrow for me, I have a capped tooth but it still gives me shit all the time because my dentist was a sandnigger

EXTRACT!!!!!!!!!

Root canal is painful, expensive, and is starting to look an awful lot like a major cause of cancer in later life (the fibres that hold it all together breed mutagenic bacteria implicated in the formation of small cell carcinomas)
I've lost 6 of my back teeth, all wisdoms and 2 molars, I don't notice the fucking difference when I eat, but I do notice there's no pain anymore

What could a dental shool do?
And i have a part time job that had currently placed me on call so im lucky to make 300$ a damn month now. Idk how they'd work with that.
What happened?

Paranoia spreads... how old are you? Cause i'm 22, and didnt expect a wrench and a piece of bone to set me up with this shit..

You can get dental care from a student/professor. It's usually much cheaper and or free depending on the procedure. Kina like getting a haircut at a beautician school, only you have a Dr over watching and assisting.

Repair the cavity with a mixture of honey, calcium carbonate and sea salt. I swished it every day for 3 weeks and the cavities in both of my wisdom teeth vsnished

Just get it extracted if you're in pain, and come up with a solution later. They are right, your teeth will shift over a matter of many years or decades, but if you save between those years you can get an implant later.

I'm looking forward to dentures. If I could afford it I would have all my teeth ripped out now.

>Hey baby, while you're in there could you brush my teeth too?

None in my area. Thanks Central Kansas.
Way past that user. I cracked it when i was working one day, and a hidden bit of bone in a porkchop shattered a hole in it

I had a root canal done on one of my frontal molars. Pretty standard fare, as far a tooth work goes. Just keep in mind it takes a long time is all.

Extract if you still have wisdom teeth, wisdom teeth are there to replace missing teeth, but since we are so perfect these days , wisdom teeth get impacted and taken out cause no room

He's right, take it from a britbong

I cant tell if youre being serious. None of my wisdom teeth have caused me issues. Anons is he for real

Tijuana, dude. Root canal and crown in $300.

wrong, human jaw is just getting smaller, I have no problem with mine and I got them when I was 17

Sort of yeah, he's basically along the right idea. They're a caveman thing, they come out at 20-ish which in when cavemen and people with poor hygiene would have lost the teeth. TL;DR they're replacement teeth that we no longer need.

Not everyone has problems with them

Extraction. Root canal is expensive, painful, and a general pain in the crack. Then, on top of all that, it could possibly be unsuccessful, and you'd be in a world of fun and out 1200 bucks. Mine wasn't successful, and developed an abscess... it pretty much exploded in my mouth. Fun times.

gotta spend money to make money bitch.
it's a material world and you're a material girl.

So me being 22.. have wisdom teeth ready to burst at any moment.. whatre the chances of an extraction working out in my favor this way?

I'm a man sir. Didn't you see my comment about a wrench. Women can't use tools

the only time I had a canal root fixed it was expensive and the problem resurfaced months later
Get it removed but try to get an implant before too many years go by or your jaw will get all fucked up

Its not. Its cheaper

I took mine out. They told me the root canal will degrade in a few years time anyways. A implant is like $2k for one tooth though.

Free healthcare

My friend went to tj and they did the wrong tooth

Your jaw has already done the majority of growing when I had something similar I was about 16 and it worked out fine but that's down to the fact the jaw and the muscles around it was still growing. Best case scenario your teeth will probably partition with small gaps on that side of the jaw or worst case you completely Shot yourself in the foot. Though I'm not a dentist.

exactly, on average human jaw is getting smaller, some people still have a jaw big enough to accommodate them other do not. How do averages work

Sup Forumsros I have 5 cavities about how much would it be without insurance??

root canals are not permanent. It is 1200 and 1200 when it breaks.

Get the extraction. If it was your back molar your bit might shift noticeably but in this case it wont.

Talk to your dentist about the benefits of both and ignore pricing. The loss of that tooth isn't a big deal and it wont require maintenance later.

where do you live?

The one at the back with the bit of black on it. Thats a temp filling a dentist gave me to see if the root was done fucked. It is indeed fucked.

I have free health care, but in my country dental care, eye care and medication don't count and our insurance systems are nothing special.

If you believe the memes, we have the best healthcare in the world.

Pull it! Dentistry is highway robbery.

USA Central Kansas.

This is both OC and OP. For you all to get an idea on which one is the culprit

That sucks, I was supposed to have one done, I thought it was fucked but it was only my nerve being exposed. A filling cleared it right up.

If u haven't removed any other teeth I say remove it it doesn't make a difference I have one of mine taking out and my wisdom tooth took it's place lol

I live in Seattle. I drove to Tijuana one summer. Got a crown, and a 3 part bridge on one side for 900$. I think i paid 600 for a root canal here on one of these molars. I have no molars on my left side. I am going back to tijuana next year for two implants, which are about $1000 each. compared to 5k up here. My crown and bridge and just fine, going on about 3 years now.

Root canals can last a very very long time, decades, or longer. depends how you take care of your teeth, don't let the guys post above be discouraging, but I would suggest pulling it, or find a cheaper route for a root canal, 1200 is rape. where do you live?

Shit dude, see if you had crunched up teeth then taking it out could actually help with the fact the wisdom is coming though but you've got a pretty good set of chompers so anything tampering would throw that out the window

Central kansas. And you think 1200 is bad? I went to another dentist for a second opinion. HIS root canal was fucking 2200 bucks.

Yeah no braces when i was a kid and no problems. Now its all in the crapper

i mean your gunna die when you get old anyways right?
dentistfag here
its this attitude which just shits me half the time
if your prepared
-to have your very back tooth shift forward at an angle making food and all sorts of bacteria get stuck in between(im assuming you take shit care of your teeth in general)
-the tooth opposite popping out further til you choose to have that one removed
-not being able to eat comfortably the way you do now til your dying breath
by all means rip it out

If you wanna keep that look and functionality try and get the fix, or come to England for a few weeks and fix it, probably about the same price when you include flights but at least you get a shitty holiday out of it

oh canada

i just spent 5k on teeth last month

Well would you charge me 1500 or be a better person and help someone out of pain?

>free healthcare
>doesn't cover teeth

You've been lied to.

>1200$
>root canal
nigga what
you can get that shit for ~500$ max at a very expensive dentist here
and for lowest you can get it for like 60$

If you get your tooth extracted, the one opposite to it, on the upper side, will start to descend into the gap and you might lose it as well.

Also, if you change your mind and want a tooth again:

A: you will only have something like two years to get it done befoere your jaw gets too resorbed
B: it will be way more expensive

depends on the size of the cavities and country
try googling your local dentists for prices

Well there are costs associated with maintaining a zombified tooth in the jaw and preventing it from infecting the rest of your mouth, theres alot of materials going into keeping it there safely that most dentist wont bother to explain to patients
My practice charges 1300 though we do accept payment plans

also, remember you'll be chewing on the other teeth that much more

I'm almost 40, had my first wisdom tooth out at 22. No Ragrets

essentially comes down to what price do you put on your overall well being
Im not saying you'll be suicidal with one missing tooth but there will no doubt be changes to how you have to approach certain tasks like eating

Had a root canal, was my worst dentist visit, would not recommend.
Year and a half later the tooth fell apart in my mouth and had to be extracted. Missing 1 molar in the back left of my mouth, not that bad, gives me something to do when I chew gum.

SUCK!

Get the root canal even if you borrow the cash, what else is more worth spending money on then your own head.

some chain dental place here in washington charges 80-150$ per filling

i hope this helps

I've been in Accident & Emergency, crying on the floor, sweating, shaking, vomiting, and begging for euthanasia because of my teeth...

For reference, I once had my pelvis and both thighs crushed to dust by an angry bull who got me against a gate, didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as even a mild tooth attack :/

teeth are as bad as it gets

...

That happens a lot. You have to know which dentist. Most are into tourism, some are into dentistry.

sounds like you took poor care of them
unless muh genetics which is possible but extremely rare

oh my god man thats awful. for $2200 its worth flying out of state lol.

DUDE. you're only 700 miles away from el paso! theyre has to be some dentists across the border! you want some help? I can guide you through it, its so straight forward, you need a passport though. I think root canals are only 300$, and a crown is another 300. (You will need a crown for a tooth that had a root canal, you can get by without, but its not recommended)

if you want to chat more, give me a way to contact you.

Doesn't this break global #3?

I feel you on the bull story. I worked at a feedlot for a year. Separating calves from their mothers was a terrifying shit show.

Fifty bucks each in Tijuana. Just don't go on a taxi driver's recommendation.

nah my family has a predisposition for growing gums back over the teeth once theyve emerged... makes it impossible to fully clean them when brushing and it all seems fine until one day.... *ugh* Ill find a pic if I can.....

>here
very descriptive, dude.

Extract it and get an artificial tooth. What's your attachment to real teeth?
The artificial tooth is cheaper and don't get cavities. Unless your doctor charges more for the artificial implant, which is doubtful.

i hope you don't mean gingivitis
pics would be very interesting
willing to give an online consult

Ive had 7 teeth pulled just because of the cost compared to root canals.

If it is in the back where it cant be seen then just get it pulled. In about a week the whole will close, and in about a month you can chew whatever you want on it no pain

There's a way to charge all your "medical tourism" costs (travel, hotel, food, and medical costs) against your taxes.

It's from eating soft foods. Make your children chew their face off with tough meat for maximum anesthetic

cant get it off my phone and too lazy to try twice.....

anyway it's irrelevant, already had em pulled :)

Yeah, he's right. No healthcare is free. Just some is better distributed is all. The US has to have the worst system in the world, made people believe for two or three generations now that health care is part of your salary. BS

In socialized countries the costs are distributed over everybody. In privatized countries you hope your insurance company covers your needs.

Shoot, I had the same tooth go bad, the one right before the end molar. I was quoted 4000 in california, for root canal, if they could save the tooth. Went to tijuana they pulled the tooth, put in bone graft, 400. I have to wait til september for inmplant 1500 or so. It sucks because there is a huge hole and I can't chew bon one side of mouth

You should realize that in the US privatized healthcare is not free market though, they're not allowed to cross state borders without taxation and tariffs.
Privatization does not equal free market. The US is not a free market.

I'm from Canada but I can easily tell your system is fucked. In Hong Kong they have the highest standard of living in Asia thanks to a free market system on their healthcare. The US is not free market!

Really? The place I went to cost me $1500 for everything and they gave me a temporary to chew with while the bone grafted to the implant. They even used my own stem cells to make the bone graft faster, like three months instead of six.

I checked USC dental school and read the rules, yes a professor is there, but it seems that you are on your own. Read reviews on like yelp first

student yes
professor no, unless the student screws up
like haircuts at beauty colleges

I cracked the no. 14 tooth, molar before the last on left side when I bit down on a chicken leg end. It shattered the whole back end of the tooth

I just has a tooth extracted (back Wisdom tooth on Upper Right side). It depends ENTIRELY in the type of decay... if the decay is BELOW the gumline, you have to have the tooth removed. There's no way to fix it because the Dentine (that's the material underneath the enamel) becomes soft and mushy from the decay. In my case, I had two teeth where decay had set in between them below the gumline. They took out the rear-most tooth (a Wisdom tooth) because the decay was below the gumline but repaired the other tooth next to it.

The advice from my dentist was that if i have further problems with the repaired tooth, it would be best in the long run to have it removed as well. Because the ongoing problems and repairs would be crippling and would still not be problem solving.

I find that food now gets crushed against the gum where the tooth was and it hurts slightly (but the area is still healing). If you are predisposed to Diabetes, you will NOT be eligible for implants because gum disease and bone loss (and slow healing and reduced immune system) means that implants will NEVER take to your mouth. Diabetics are unsuited to dental implants.

If you can save the tooth by paying the usual $1200 for a Root Canal, you may be able to save your tooth and you will be able to benefit from this in future. But you MUST see a specialist who deals with Root Canal work because if the dentist makes the slightest error, you could end up with an abscess. And an abscess on the jaw bone is a horrific thing.

You might have to get a bone graft first since its been so long since you had your tooth removed

Where are you, afganistan?
