No Mans Sky isn't the best game ever.

I guess you're right
>because nobody's played it

I would love to play it on mushrooms

And so begins the great viral marketing of our time. Sup Forums must be great right now. "So how many planets are you guys going to visit in No Man's Sky?" and so forth.

I CANT WAIT TO PLAY THIS GAME!!!! It might just be the last one I play possibly.

Bump

It's going to be a mess of procedural generation mixed with an attempt at unlimited assets.

In other words it's going to get repetitive.

I bet all my money it will end up getting mixed reviews. Half will say "an endless simulation of exploration." the other half will say "so much to see but not a lot to do."

either way i'm pumped for this shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=kER02MJzVks - 26 min of leaked gameplay.

Dunno, haven't played it yet

What's so special about this game other that it's size?

please exlain yourself. It looks like ark/minecraft in space.

Look at gameplay, see if its something you would play

When there are no limits, there is no interest.

The amount of shit you can do.

Will do, on mobile atm.

The size is the scary part, at some point it's gonna be like "oh look another cube tree, oh it's blue this time"

this for sure.

But its got quadrillions of planets.

like what?

Explore, discover, trade, destroy shit, kill shit, mine, build, travel, etc.

The future of gaming will be VR. It'll be a mix of pokemon go meets NMS algorithm for the game. Imagine putting on glasses then seeing a living world that's all around you. Even if you don't play the game it will be living around you and the only way to access it is through a mobile device or VR tech

So it's just another boring sandbox survival game?

Vague, there are no games without limits so this is just an opinion .

You can be a trader, a pirate of sorts, an explorer, a straight up killer, etc.

because this is going to be the best game ever

no, holographic TVs and Augmented Reality are the future. VR will still be cool but for like weebs who want to have sex with their favorite anime character

I told my brothers there will be a SWAT type game where you bust in your front door and have to kill aliens invading your house

or think of a mario type game where the level is your living room and kitchen and the obstacles are your coffee table and loveseat.

Imagine this scenario. You've crash landed on a planet and you have to get resources to fix it. Your on a planet that is ice cold and you only have so much time on the surface before you freeze. After mapping out the area and collecting the resources your finally able to get off the planet. As you do you see a giant snow worm break the surface and try to snatch your plane. You just itch through its teeth blasting off into the atmosphere. As you get out into space you see a trader station maker pop up so you decide to travel there to trade and restock. Entering their fleet you suddenly see a group of pilots warp in and lock onto a large cargo ship. They begin attacking, you decide to help the fleet and attack the pirates. One by one you out maneuver them through asteroids and other ships coming and going from the main trader station. As you take out the last pilot you sigh in relief, but suddenly behind you another pilot warps in and they have you locked on. You out maneuver the attack and try to counter attack but this pilot is nothing like you have ever seen. Your out of ammo and your ships low on health, you have two choices stay and try to beat this pilot or use all your energy to warp away saving yourself and your supplies you just collected from the crash on the planet. What do you do?

this
I'ts just another survival game, nothing special. Stop overhyping this game

Kill yourself

You're

I want to know 2 things.
1. If I blow up a mountain or kill off a dinosaur, does everyone else playing the game also see the singed crater where the mountain was as the universe expands out before them, or are we all getting a fresh universe and there's no memory of permanence to our actions?

Because if we're all sharing a universe, we're going to see some serious shit arise when spheres of influence expand and create pirate colonies and private armies.

Also can I be a genetic engineer and engineer bioweapons, because that's the only true means of self-defense.

What do we even do besides fly around explore shit for ages till we get bored?

There's a new wrinkle. Turns out the algorithm they used to create the universe belongs to someone else. They are either going to get ass-raped on licensing by the University that owns it, or start over from scratch.

Yes.

1) All your actions will be seen by other players if they are there or come across your planet you did those actions on. Keep in mind the chances of this is happening is very very very very very very very very very very very unlikely due to the size of the game.

This is where they maybe went wrong with the game. You should be able to choose a faction to start with or a base code so that if you have a group of pirates, traders, explores whatever they should be able to form a group without having to run across each other.

2) I hope the game gets to a point where people form factions on the game and travel the universe doing tasks to better the faction or pirates to go raid or explores leaving weaving a story in the universe.

Because there's nothing to fucking DO.

Enjoy shooting at rocks in a planet with blue mountains and green grass, before shooting rocks on a planet with red mountains and yellow grass.

Seriously, you're utterly fucking delusional if you think this won't be a complete failure. It'll only sell because retards actually pre-order games they know nothing about.

the creators have mentioned that what you do to a planet will not be seen by other players. I even think when you go back to that planet it wil be like you were never there. probably that will come with later generation consoles.

YOU CAN BEFRIEND MONSTERS - dope! That will be crazy if they will fight for you.

I hope we see big ass monsters in the game. Theres an image that looks like there is big ass snakes.....ahhhh cant wait

Reminder: on PS4, they're not even requiring PS+ to play online. Why? Because the chances of you running into someone else are fucking microscopic.

If you don't see that as a sign to jump ship, pun intended, pull your head out of your ass.

I think they should just license access to their universe, and all other game companies should put their games on planets in it.

Complete with parallell universes for multiple games that take place on earth, stargates to other dimensions like 8bit dimension, tollbooths for entering systems or planets where players pay for accessing those games, different physics determine planet size, gravity & atmospheric density characteristics, etc.

Just have every fucking game company in the world exist on the unlimited number of worlds in that space and fly around to & between them and dip in & out of their realities.

you are wrong.

"You won't really be able to leave a physical mark on the game, however, at least not on the universe at large. As you travel to new planets, they are generated around you, and when you leave them, they degenerate. So, if you use a mining tool to blast a section of a planet, perhaps to draw a giant penis on the ground (I will just assume that is what you will do), once you leave that planet and fly away, the game will once again disassemble the planet behind you."

pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-10-burning-questions-answered/

It's a colorful piece of shit.
It will lose any sort of difference from the last place you visited by, and or before 30 hours.

I'm not autistic.

It's Spore 2.0.

Mind blowing on paper. Fucking dreadful when it came out and people realised that it's not some ultimate intergalactic space sim.

that spaceship thing looks like the checkpoint dealers from pitfall 3d on the ps1

“Changes the player makes are saved locally,” Murray explained. “So if you start destructing the terrain, that’s saved on your own machine. And if you try and make -- what we would consider -- really significant [changes], some of those [changes] are stored on the server, along with the discoveries that you make. But in general, a lot of what you’re doing is considered insignificant. If you kill a creature, we scratch that, we save that that’s happened, but we don’t feel the need to like, kill that creature for everybody.”

- If you blow up a mountain maybe it might?

If Elite Dangerous expanded their game, adding more to do. It would blow this shit completely out of the water.

oh fuck then there's like no purpose to the infinite universe other than the novelty of it being a big wander to feel incredibly alone in.

OH I GET IT, IT"S JUST LIKE LIFE!!!
YAAYAYAYY

Everyone can mine out the same resource from the same rock.

I was wondering about this. Are there missions with objecvtives and stuff? Is there a story? Or do they just want you to fly around, land on a planet, and then walk around, leave and repeat? If so, that sounds hella boring.

>Give me one good reason why Minecraft isn't the best game ever.

fixed it 4 u kiddo

There is no story but there is a lore to the game. An ancient race exists and wants you to travel to the center of the universe. Along the travel you will come across artifacts (monoliths, buildings and what not) that will give you further insight into who they are and why they do what they do.

There's stuff, but everything's inconsequential. Sure, you can spend hours mining minerals to upgrade your weapons to shoot NPCs better. But it's going to get insanely boring very quickly.

There's no story, other than what you make up in your head. All the leaked footage is people just shooting rocks. It's going to be the biggest disappointment in years.

I think that there is a story at the center of the universe. You could probably watch someone's play through on YouTube when the time comes. Otherwise it is your own objectives, which will bore many quick.

its a survival game. you start out with little to nothing and build your life by mining and stealing. play 'ark'
i tried ark on the xbox one with my niece and nephew. it was pretty fun but got repetive and i have no urge to go and play by myself.

Looking forward to making a planet mine and choosing a animal species to be a "Master Race" and then effectively commiting mass genocide against all minority races

So it's space engineers?

THAT WOULD MAKE IT FUCKING ARK OR MINECRAFT IN SPACE COCKFAG

jesus christ. Just because theres quadrillions of planets doesnt mean theyre good. 99 percent of stuff you see will just be different colors or sizes of shit youve already seen

Its Elite Dangerous with Minecraft like planets.

When it comes out, you'll see that there won't be much variation between the planets and it'll be boring as fuck with nothing to do.

yea im excited to name shit after my dick and balls. other than that idc

Thanks for the info. Sounds kind of boring. Guess I'll wait for the reviews on this one.

this

I'm hoping there's no story. Every fucking game has a story to conform to.

Ideally there's no story, and the story begins to arise when the aforementioned factions begin to control bigger and bigger solar systems and galaxies and there you are just trying to explore and get by, and you have to evade all these fucking patrols and territorial assholes and get around whatever security shit they set up or run into other like-minded rebels and infiltrate or coordinate terrorist attacks on their shit to get by them or take them out.

I could see it becoming a giant self-organizing universe of nations and outlaws, but they'd have to enable all that.

>implying this is a bad thing.

Sounds like a winning formula to me

Never said it was bad. Just saying what it is.

Because the Souls franchise exists =)

i bet you're like 10 right?

if it actually looked like
>opies pic
I would just wander around in it forever in a VR headset with my cock plugged into a fleshlight and mainlining LSD and all my needs would be met...

Look at Starbound.
The devs promised infinite planets.
They weren't lying, but the only difference between pretty much any two planets is that one has brown dirt and coniferous trees plus monsters with four eyes while the other has purple dirt and deciduous trees and monsters with three eyes.
No Man's Sky will be the same.
If the reviews praise it and people, apart shills like you, also praise it I'll buy it.
Otherwise I may get it for $5 from a Steam sale.

Souls is good, but it would be better with open world features

looks like a pretty minecraft with the color pallet of a 70s porno mag

nice meme, Citizen

because i don't have enough faggot for that gay shit

Starbound isn't bad- It's just lacking.
It feels unfinished.
If there was more verity and better combat in it I feel like it would be better. I thoroughly enjoyed the bosses in the game although there's zero to no "endgame" to it

Well there's your problem. You're low on faggot.
You need more faggots, user.

ALL THE FAGGOTS

...

starbound is fucking boring
elite dangerous is fucking boring
no mans sky has less than both games

it will be fucking boring.

No. I just like envisioning the future. I do it all the time

Guessing that you play Call of Duty?

It's a simulation tehc demo

not a game

Filthy fucking casual

No multiplayer

>multiplayer like Spore

Because it's no Platformania.com

so like every fps you don't play anymore then?

Starbound could have been more, the Devs probably just wanted to get it out of EA and I'm sure that they're going to add more, and rework the game to give it more verity. Like in the early days of Terraria I could say that it was also "boring"
But now if you look at Terraria, there's replay-ability and it feels finished and complete.
Also, multiplayer always adds a spark to the games when you play them with friends.

viral marketiers pls go

It gets those reviews cuz its true fucktard

This.

underrated troll

no u

The shill is strong with this one

>the chances of you running into someone else are fucking microscopic
Do you think they even included realtime multiplayer in their netcode? probably not.

nobody suggested you were, but i suspect it now you said it.

Couldn't agree more.
NMS will be the same sadly...
Just with planets and better crafting.
And no end game option for big ships.

What will really sink NMS though... is if multiplayer is really going to be as bad as they say it will be (completely random and no way to find friends.)
