At the first look it may seem like a huge waste of money, but right now practically everybody living on wellfare is getting way more money than that 560€ and then there's the whole bureocracy mill to distribute it which also eats money.

One idea is to replace all the currently existing welfare bureaucracy and means-tested programs with basic income. So no more national pension program, no more unemployment insurance, no more disability, no more food supports, just basic income

Basic universal income is really the ultimate stage a society can reach and is something all nations should be striving to be able to afford. If that means actually taxing those few percent who control the majority of a nations wealth, fucking good. The current state of "capitalism", as spearheaded by America, has been both a round failure but also a humanitarian crisis.

That's cool but all it would take is several hundred individuals in a society to have the time to actually focus on things in order to create innovative breakthroughs. There are only a few thousand people, if that, who have made the greatest contributions to humanity and almost all of them were only able to do so because they were part of relative wealth and were able to focus on their study instead of slaving away like everyone else. All it would take is another Einstein or Hawking, Darwin or Newton and that alone would be worth the cost of financing a basic income for the entirety of Austria, Finland and Bulgaria because it would produce technology and innovation, in turn creating far more wealth and progress than those short term thinking fools who see something like a basic income merely as a dole to support useless indivduals such as yourself who will never produce anything of value to humanity regardless.

It could increase the money supply depending on how it's financed (through taxes or borrowing) and would probably increase the velocity of money since low-income people usually don't save much. Could be good though; must of Europe has excessively low inflation right now

I liked to think it was reasonable when I was younger but now I think it is wishful thinking. Even if you can't do much you can still work with punishing or servicing or otherwise motivating the lazy ones who could make a difference.

It IS for living on. The entire point of a basic income is to provide people with enough money to get by, no frills. Those who are working and earning a lot more than the basic income could use it as "free money" but realistically it will be of little consequence to them and it will just end up going straight back into the economy as being used for things like food, etc. basics.

Depending on the size of the basic income it could cost less the entire existing welfare state, maybe (but probably not.) It would definitely cost more than just unemployment insurance which is a tiny fraction of overall spending
