Listening to Art Angels again. I love the use of counterpoint throughout it. She definitely knows her theory.
From Vancouver Canada
Grimes is too good for Sup Forums.
What about us pure hearted Sup Forums posters?
A (You) for (You)
and one for (You)
And a special one for (You), because you're autistic.
control freak
I'm not sure if I agree on her doing most of the producing and that. Its hard to say because I don't know what direction the producers would take it. She does a good job though.
you replied quickly. you elaborated defensively. i'm gonna agree with myself here.
insecurity needs to be accepted in western culture, considering the pretentious position of privilege and all. >inb4 edgy
I never said I disagreed with you..
enough
what is your problem user?
eat pen15 (jk)
Is she considered nu-gaze? soft vocals over heavier synths
I'm really trying to get into this stuff but a lot of her music just reminds me of adventure time interludes and reverb heavy layered chorus. The lyrics really aren't connecting.
What am I missing? What makes her good?
die
that was chill
>posting a shopped pic
Let me tell you something: Grimes's music tend to grow on someone with each listen. I thought her music was pleasant but I hated her voice and now I think it's genius in every way: the way she mixed all those styles (Synth pop, Dream pop, IDM, R&B, Classical, Medieval, J-Pop, Industrial), the way she sings (so unusual and emotional), the way she loops her voice as backing vocals, the way her songs unfold, the insanely catchy and layered melodies, the creative and powerful beats, the huge diversity of her music, the fact her songs stay fresh after countless plays. Her music is really special.
I suggest you to listen to all of her songs again, including the rarities, demos, instrumentals, whatever.
How Sup Forums will react when Grimes will finally release her new album? Predictions?
I wanna hear the unreleased album
>Talk about the ugliest musician of the decade Grimes!
>saving her ugliest pics on his hdd ready to support his shitposting and ignoring the countless great pics of her

>But that hasn't stopped Pink from continuing to point out his influence on Grimes. In a scene from a 2012 feature story in Spin, he watches Grimes perform at Make Music festival. (Keep in mind, this is when "Oblivion" and "Genesis" were everywhere.) "She doesn't do the ramanah," Pink says, referring to a vocal style popularized by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. "No, she does the Pink-a-nah." Later, he adds, "every time I hear her, I hear a little of myself." Pink also tried to invite Grimes on tour with him in 2012—but she was already fully booked. Funny enough, that seems like an apt metaphor to exactly what's happening today.
Actually Ariel Pink loves Grimes. They should collaborate.
reddit fucking gold baby!
you need to leave.
desperation doesn't make her a cunt, I'm mean, it kinda works for the exploitative anyways. stfu
a "probably" from Grimes means No.
what about a "please"?
Half of /mu will love it, and the other half will passionately hate it since it will be her most successful release yet (both in terms of records sales and - most likely - critical response) because /mu is dominated by contrarian hipsters.
Basically it's gonna be received exactly the same way all her other records have been received here, except on an ever larger scale (as her mainstream presence increases.)
Grimes
but, if they don't like it, then they suck...
