Jake bugg is pretty cool if you haven't already listened to him
All the country I like is fucking depressing
Darius Rucker is a good place to start
Hank 3
Try these:
Johnny Cash - Live at Folsom Prison
Waylon Jennings - Hinky Tonk Heroes
Willie Nelson - Redheaded Stranger
Hank Williams, Jr. - Habits Old and New
Songs: Ohia - Magnolia Electric Co.
Hank Williams III - Straight to Hell
Lee Hazlewood - Trouble is a Lonesome Town
Townes Van Zandt - s/t
In addition to many already listed, I tend to like Roy Acuff, Ray Price, and Gene Autry.
Are you looking for anything specific? Country is one of those genres that is deceptively diverse, in the way that you could be looking for one thing and find something completely different and end up going down a huge rabbit hole.
A lot of the stuff posted so far is good, especially the older artists. Some of the newer folks making waves right now are Sturgill Simpson, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell, and plenty of others.
I can't tell if he reminds me more of Roger Waters or Tim Allen.
