So how about them guitars? This is my one, what do people think? Also, if someone wouldn't mind explaining to me the purpose of getting a guitar setup please, I did a google search but it just explained what to do and not why
Ethan Walker
My external drive fell to the floor while I was playing guitar yesterday, probably from a ghost. Amazingly, when I shove the connector in hard enough it gets power and I actually hear the drive fucking reading! Except the connector USB is fucked. Here is hoping and praying that a new USB connector will save this external, as it has all my fucking videos, vidya, and my recordings on it.
How a drive falls from a static position while I am on the other side of the room jamming the guitar scares the shit out of me. Pretty sure my ex girlfriend has placed a hex on me. She was a witch, you know.
Tyler Ramirez
Yes. Good. Geetar will play/feel better.
Josiah Russell
Your dank riffs caused it to fall.
David Adams
Don't have answer, just wanted to say I like your Gibson and Tele, very pretty, but you need to clip those strings
but why?
Elijah Carter

You can probably plug the hard drive that's in the enclosure into a pc

Reminder to not respond to tripfags, please keep posts about guitar related topics, such as this sweet blackstar amp, and not bad how butthurt you are that no one likes your shit thread :^)
Brayden Garcia
There's a few main components to setting up the guitar. The first that everyone cares about is action, aka how low the strings are compared to the fretboard. A well setup action has the strings set as close as possible without any buzz coming out (meaning the string has a proper relief and can vibrate freely), and so in the same way all over the neck. Then, comes intonation. Intonation is making sure the frets all give out the same note when going higher up the neck, so that you don't end up a quarter tone apart when suddently tapping the octave for example. On top of that, there are also minor stuff such as lubing the nut, checking/resoldering wonky electronics, and so on.
Also, learning to setup a guitar by yourself will save you both times and money.
Josiah Rivera

Nice board, but why the two wah pedals?

OP you do not have a boards, please buy wood.
OR15 is good cheap amp for dank riffs.
Adrian Butler
there's 0 wah pedals there brah. one's a volume pedal and the other is an expression pedal attached to the zoom.
your boards good but I personally don't like the flashback that much
Julian Roberts
One looks like a multieffect and the other is a volume pedal.
Jace Hall
>cheap amp It's almost 700€ dude, that's not exactly cheap
Aaron Morgan
its not that cheap desu
Adrian Cook

I've decided next year I'm going to learn how to play guitar. Any advice beforehand? I'm completely new to anything that has to do with recording and playing music other than beginner-level piano playing

How does everyone stack/order their dirt pedals?

I wish somebody would lube MY nut...

Back home for Christmas, my Father (a amateur carpenter) has offered to help make a pedal board me, pretty comfy, only problem is not to sure on the design, anyone here DYI a pedal board before got any advice on how to do it???
My bad for being a pleb
>Buy amps second hand I'm fine with guitars and pedals but I don't trust second hand amps, you just know a valve will blow in 5 minutes of getting the thing

Start now.

Liam Foster
used isn't universal, everyone's too butthurt here to sell anything below 3/4th of its original price
don't cheap out on your first guitar learn music theory adopt a proper posture
Easton Moore
Is this worth $350?
Camden Long
Lol I've been wondering this too, I'm down for one of those or a cheap ibanez
Jeremiah Clark
fuzz > darker fuzz, distortion and od are for pussies.
I've only ever owned two new amps, my first ever one and ac4, I've had a bunch of used ones, from beat to shit things from the 70s to near mint and never had a problem. Changing a valve is easier than changing a light bulb.
Julian Russell
I say no because you can find them used for $200-$250. It was even $250 at Guitar Center during their November sale.
Mason Rodriguez
Spend over $1000 on your first guitar, that way you have an intensive to play it, and it will take your mind off the pain of having to sell an organ
Conventional wisdom says gain order from lowest to highest, so overdrive, distortion, fuzz
Kayden Stewart
Yo quince, desu. Don't have the funds yet What are some decent models? I saw some on the justinguitar website and i'm looking for an electric guitar
Grayson Scott
Yeah I've been looking at it because im a poorfag who digs the sg design.
Jose King
You like guitar music?
Julian Hall
Don't buy a new one. Look at the used ones on guitar center or buy a better one around the same price. I bought my G400 for $170 and came with a free hard case.
Mason Price
I love Hendrix particularly but I love the sound of both acoustic and electric overall
Julian Foster
Are they any decent for their respective price?
Kayden Evans
I've seen that video, thats what I was going to base it off of, and I was under the impression that changing the valve wasn't the problem, but that it was expensive to do so
Not a meme, get yourself a nice Squier, I got one, never done me wrong
Luis Torres
>I'm fine with guitars and pedals but I don't trust second hand amps, you just know a valve will blow in 5 minutes of getting the thing Tube amps aren't as brittle as people make them out to be, save for a few cases. Stuff like a 5150 is indestructible
>distortion and od are for pussies. bro do you even HM-2 bro ?
>cheap ibanez don't fucking buy a gio seriously don't do it christ not only they're shit but if I was gullible I'd believe they're cursed too.
Depends on your price range. As a general rule of thumb, most stuff below 300 bucks ranges from "eh" to straight up garbage Also target which genre you want to play before buying and try different guitars out, there's no particular way to do guitar ergonomics and some models are very different from others
Jonathan Bell
> tfw this is back in stock

>Tele neck pickup half the volume of bridge >Take pick guard off without removing strings to raise pickup >Volume is way better
So glad a very minor thing helped fix the pickups.
Parker Garcia
Appreciate the advice.
Also, as I previously stated, I have little to no experience in the music field and I need to learn to read sheet music again. Any good sources for this?
Jose King
Its my first and only guitar so I can't really make a comparison, but so far its been pretty nice. Probably the best budget SG you can get.
Jose Gray
see the links in the OP, especially musictheory.net for notation
John Sanders
What does Sup Forums think of my custom-built Tele?
Adam Garcia
what if you lowered the bridge pickup? woah.
Jack Robinson
Much thanks
Tyler Myers
Sheet music is useful if your planning on playing professionally in a fancy environment, but it's also worth learning to read tabs, much easier notation and it also very common
Justin Smith
>mindlessly fiddling with input jack nut >doesn't notice im loosening it >it pops off and the input jack falls into the body >my eyes widen realising what has just happened
through what can only be described as divine intervention i managed to get the jack back through the hole and the nut back on somehow, but man, i tell ya, that was fucking scary and i dont want that happening ever again.
Christopher Stewart
Sexy. I love Tele's with binding.
Here's mine with some pin-striping tape on it.

Investing into a few lessons with a good teacher can save you a TONS a trouble later on. No need to use thick strings as a beginner. Start on .9 Have fun and find a balance between practicing and playing. Use your ears. Learn by them. Learn how to tune by them. Never learn songs from some midi playing apps or similar bullshit.
Play with ease. No extra unnecessary tension. Start paying attention to rhytm as early as possible. Tap your foot to the beat all the time while playing.
Kevin Hill
Will do.
Owen Bell
Only if you're willing to drop an extra $70 to replace the tuners and frets.
I owned one for a brief period of time. Sounded alright after I replaced the bridge pup with a lollartron, but it never stayed in tune longer than a couple of minutes of playing.
Benjamin Ross
Is that a matte black finish?
Benjamin Hall
Does MusicMan matter?
Landon Brooks
I thought it was leather. Proper beefy tone, wew.
Brody Bennett
Thank you. It's an old pic, and the strings have been clipped. I had just restrung all the guitars that night before taking the picture and had misplaced my wire cutters.
>Implying I jump around and play shitty indy surfer rock
My Tele is dirty as fuck because I actually play it a lot and it gets use. I prefer well-played and worn looking guitars to ones that look like they belong to someone who plays thirty minutes a day. That said, It'd take a lot to make me purchase a used guitar.
Julian Taylor
Classy. Dark fretboard Teles are the best.
You are a connoseiur, my good user.
Jaxon Baker
>What is a screwdriver, the post.

It's a spray paint finish without any poly or gloss coat over it.
I like how it looks/feels, but it dents/scratches on basically everything.

Another photo.

Duly noted.
Is there any way I could use my shitty keyboard to help the process of learning by ear, or even the overall process of learning to play?
Justin Nguyen
>no JM trem you goofed
Carson Ramirez
I find keyboard helps me learn theory stuff which I can then apply to guitar
Christopher Peterson
>putting a trem on my $800 one-shot guitar.
No thanks.
Zachary Sullivan
how will you VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO?
Kevin Howard
Anyone want to make an internet band that plays songs about monster girls? Cmon. You know you want to.
Caleb Hernandez
Current setup. I want to get a compressor and a reverb and I should be good from there.
Carson Howard
Can I rap in this band?
Caleb Young
>Never learn songs from some midi playing apps or similar bullshit. not him but whats wrong with this? im pretty new to bass and use songsterr all the time, it seems really helpful
Isaiah Morgan
Can we be called Check'em?
Noah Perez
I already have an HH strat for shoegazey playing.
That tele is my baby. I'm not going to cut into her beautiful body just to make room for a trem that's going to fuck up my intonation
Liam Watson
Or maybe One Off
Dylan Harris
damn man, if that was a thinline it would be pretty close to my dream guitar
Jonathan Harris
Now if I fuck this monstah

>dat pick where is your jazz iii?
Ethan Sullivan
1)Feel, groove and dynamic is pretty subconscious stuff. It gets under your skin from whatever you play with. You dont want to have a midi groove. 2)It is impossible to learn nuances and details from midi. There are none. 3)If song is too fast for you, practice parts with a metronome or slow it down (even win media player can do it) 4) and that is most importat, by getting tabs, you are not forced to learn by ears. Ear training and developement is most crucial for any long term improvement of any musician. Your ears are the limit. Each song learned from tabs is wasted oportunity. Hard way is most beneficial.
Anthony Wilson
Any monster girl inspo?
Jason Ward
Anyone who /bass/ here use flatwounds?
Andrew Rivera
In /gg/ Monster girl fucks you.
Cameron Morris
>dank riffs, blues and wall of sounds I want to hear that
>You dont want to have a midi groove. midi can pull off completely impossible polyrhythms, show me someone who can play septuplet, quintuplets, triplets at the same time over a 4/4 beat. It's only limited in feeling by the composer itself. >It is impossible to learn nuances and details from midi. There are none. MIDI has dynamics, and some tab/sheet reading programs like Guitar pro highlight them so that you don't miss out, you can also do grace notes, and triplet grooves are harder for a beginner to conceive.
As for ear training, you're not necessarily missing out by learning from tabs, it's a completely different field and is more linked to jamming out or practicing scales/harmonies than learning songs, and if you're playing some niche stuff you've got next to no chances as a beginner to find back right way to play the songs.
Ian Gonzalez
Can a kind chap suggest a starter bass for an absolute beginner so I don't fall for shills?
Ryder Evans
A setup is like taking your car to the shop for an oil change/tune up. Make sure everything is still as it should be (Intonation, action is where you like it, neck isn't warping or some other bullshit etc...) it's a good idea to learn how to do it yourself like others said
Matthew Adams
...
Noah Scott
For the first time I'm getting to get it done by a professional, what should I know so I dont look like a complete pleb?
Kayden Wilson
Squier affinity? don't spend more than 200 on a bass, bass is always burried in the mix and quite frankly nobody listens to music to pay attention to what the bass is doing.
Landon Gutierrez
get a decent squier precision, that sound can do no wrong.
