I'll take it from here

>tfw listening to Gaspard de la Nuit and knowing I will never ever be able to play it
Why the fuck did my parents not force me to learn piano when I was a kid

Yes and he was tasked with creating Music Entartete

Absolutely degenerate

their all Jewish. That seems kind of prejudicial

I love how somebody can parrot propaganda memes about entartete kunst while ignoring the fact modernistic tendencies was brought to music by Satie, Debussy, Ravel, Richard Strauss etc. But they aren't Jews so it doesn't count, I guess!

Degenerate scum is what you are for not thinking with your own head.

>Reich
>not regenerate

Lads, what's your favourite opera?

I'm just dipping my toes in, enjoying Fidelio atm

From the House of the Dead by based Janacek

>No Cage.

Parsifal, Hippolyte et Aricie, Wozzeck, From the House of the Dead, Zauberflote, Oedipe, the list can go on....

Salome

The Nazis hated Debussy as well because he had a Jewish wife.

Death in Venice

the magic flute or parsifal.

How do we save Sup Forums lads?

kinderszenen op.15
six romanian folk dances sz.56
intermezzi op.118
k.332

>implying Sup Forums can be saved

bela bartok sucks

one of the highlights from parsifal for me:

youtube.com/watch?v=yV-cjP96Se8

he was a real master, it's not even a discussion.

but i like his violin concerto 2

What's a good recording of Verdi's Il Trovatore?

Mozart (underrated God of music) sold the most albums this year. Sup Forums absolutely destroyed.

So I just finished listening to The Ninth Symphony by a fellow named Ludwig Beethoven, and I've gotta say, that's a DAMN fine piece of music. Who agrees?

>He forgot Mendelssohn

Pleb. Jews are great at music for some reason.

Don Giovanni.

That's wrong. Possibly the greatest 20th century composer even, top 5 at least.

but the 4th movement should have ended halfway through

Of Beethoven's Ninth? Fuck off.

Meme symphony.
Come back when you've developed a refined taste.

It may be the greatest symphony of all time.

Wasn't here for it, but what did you guys think of Stravinsky's Funeral Song?

It isn't even his best symphony.

then what is?

I was just messing with you but you fucking went full retard on me.

What other symphony can compare? Seriously. . . .

Eroica

pretty goddamn hard but if I had to pick one it'd be ballade no 4

youtube.com/watch?v=pe-GrRQz8pk

8:03 to the end is one of the few segments of music that consistently moves me to a trance

pleb spotted

Yes he's right here

Missa Solemnis > Any symphony
Benedictus > Ode to Joy

Debate me.

actually 6th is his best, eroica is definitely second though

>not holding the meme opinion (9,7,5>the rest)

arrau is better

Sokolov pls

Frank Zappa was born today and he made classical music that sounded a bit like Varese:
youtube.com/watch?v=Zu80UHvQq_Y

was that improv

lol

Who cares?

Jeez, that's ugly

None of his music was exactly tasteful

Then why should we remember him?

because good music doesn't have to always be tasteful

Because ugliness is a creative force in of itself.

youtube.com/watch?v=wq6jVsBD3qM&index=17&list=WL

Post every classical piece you ever heard from any other media (TV shows, Movies, etc)

youtube.com/watch?v=9Wmf_APgxkg

You have outstanding defense mechanisms.

Eh, but it's not that interesting either.

what?

personally i prefer his side career as an iranian
classical musician under the pseudonym Shahram Nazeri:

Are there any good books about the history of classical music? Going from the beginnings till contemporary, something like that?

There's the Oxford History of Western Music by Richard Taruskin, if you want something really long and in-depth (five volumes). If you'd prefer something a bit shorter in just one volume, you could go with A History of Western Music by Donald Grout instead.

When did you grow out of Bach /classical/? I was 24 when I did

I'll check both but I was searching for something like the former. Thanks!

Read Rosen's criticism of Taruskin and keep it in mind while reading.

never have, never will. After 30 years, he's still one of the greatest composers.

Bach is supposed to get better as you get older.
You're opinion is shit

Batch is autistic lmfao

Zappa's "classical" music is awful, and you should feel bad for promoting it in a thread dedicated to actual art music.

He could play guitar pretty well in a sleazy way, and he could write mildly amusing come-music that would make a 10 year old smile awkwardly, but thats about it.

Only because you become more autistic when you get older, lmfao!

no he isn't. He's a master improviser who knew his shit.
Autistic people dont tend to hold kappelmeister positions, have 2 wives and 20 children

I don't think aging works like that.

All good music is tasteful

Well think again lmfao!

But is it good music? I don't think so.

You mean Zappa's? As far as classical, no; as far as popular music, sure.

Popular music is bad, though.

>lmfao
>can't into Bach
Once you mature, you might appreciate, or even begin to understand Bach.
Then again, you may stay a pleb your whole life.

I was the biggest Batch fan for a long time until I grew out of autism and realized it was shit lmfao!

But wait... if you get more autistic as you get older, then how do you grow out of autism...?

Because I haven't reached the age of nervous decay lmfao!

Well Alzheimer's isn't autism

he's still better than glass and most other post 60s composers

no he's not

yes because they are all absolute shite

they're not and my quads don't lie

you are too dumb to operate quads desu

well that's just mean

He's at least better than Glass, give Zappa that much.
