Is California wine popular in your country?
Is California wine popular in your country?
no, no one has heard of it
I wouldn't call it popular as much as cheap and easily available
we cannot afford such luxurious wine.
wait, so it's cheap and available but not popular? that doesn't make sense
Why does California produce such brilliant wines? Is it genetical or has it something to do with Atlantis?
lol
so they don't sell it in Italy?
I can find plenty of Italian wines
My country prefers Virginian wine
we mainly drink chilean for cultured people and shitty local for alcoholic people
not really
my dad loves Argentinian wine. You guys make pretty decent ones
Most of our wine is from Latin America. I have seen foreign wine like Italian and Australian and it's ultra expensive. Only wealthy Brazilians can afford it.
that's the thing, the few good wine we make gets exported, we keep the shit :D
it also happens with apples and such
Napa wine better bro :DDDDDDDD
Australian wine is the most popular here
it's very very rare
only your and argentine are first. yes
yeah my dad likes that too. I would have thought the Australian climate might be too harsh for good wine but I guess I don't know shit about their geography
it's the same reason germans don't drink fucking miller or budweiser
Only chilean and argentinian wine here.
you apparently don't know alot about wine. California wine isn't miller lite
quality/price ratio is very low so it's only (rarely) sold as a meme wine, it can't beat the local offert
it's too expensive. exportation and all that
they grow them next to the meme mountains called "the great dividing range"
its where rain happens sometimes
it might not beat it but it's close to Italian quality
>american wine
kek.
which one's have you tried?
>close to italian quality
heh
yeah but our wine is kinda cheap, we are the biggest productor in the world
Sometimes you can find it on the market, but it's usually more expensive than Argie and Chilean wine of the same quality.
South East is apparently Mediterranean climate or something
sorry you haven't tried Napa wine
no one fortunatly
then why is it amusing to you?
it's unbecoming of you to knock something you haven't tried
Not that poster but I have tried a few.
They are shit/meme tier, the Don Simon shit i buy for 1 euro and use it to mix it with coca cola is better than that shit.
I genuinely dislike Italian wine.
Unfortunately they don't ship the good wines to your stores. that would be my guess
Napa Valley wine does well in international competitions
Uggh we have some low grade wine from Italy that comes in really cheap jugs. I think only hobos drink it.
which wine
It would be hard to compete in countries where they produce decent wine cheaply.
I drank it in the USA
your beer sucks too
But that's precisely what the US does
>I drank it in the USA
Sure you did
honestly we have such a wide variety that you probably chose the wrong ones. It's easy to find good beer and wine here
yes, I people around the world actually travel, unlike you.
you sound angry. Is everything okay?
Doubt you even bothered to have half decent wine desu. It's like if i siad that pizza in Italy that was worse than in the US just by going to some crappy kebab shop or tourist trap
Carlo Rossi I think.
20 dollars wine, the same as I usually buy here. Maybe i am too poor to get the meme good wines.
I tried the major usa beer brands and some obscure breweries.
And we have to pay to ship it to Europe. Them they probably have tarrifs and maybe even subsidize their own vineyards.
I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience. Better luck in future travels.
the major brands here suck. You have to go for the established local breweries
I don't get this "americans make shit beer" meme, they have some of the best breweries in the world
The trip was good, the US is not as bad as the Sup Forums memes say it was.
no, frogs and wogs provide it but british wine is on the up apparently
no one drinks wine in here so only the cheapest one is sold.
it might be california, it may not be, who cares.
Yes, but I do not usually go to those places and just go to a super market. I even bought some obscure beer from meme breweries. The brews were fine, major sucked bad.
six out of the seven I've tried, although it's been a few years
I don't remember their names. Price range was between $12 and $60, mostly in the middle.
Aww man, in my experience the supermarkets suck. You have to go to beer stores and the good ones will have "ratings" next to each beer. That's how I've found some great American as well as my favorite German and Belgian beers here in the US
It's where we source our cheap wine from, yes.
Where do you find argie wine here?
A product can be cheap but that does not mean its popular. Its probably fucking terrible too.
California wine isn't terrible and you can get good wine for cheap
It is... decent. Not great stuff, but not terrible.
there are styles that have a wide range of price (Chianti, Soave ecc.) in which usually have also a very distinct range of quality. For example a cheap Chianti cost like 1,50 euros but it's EXTREMELY shitty but itself Chianti style is good. Other wines like Gewürztraminer do not have the one euro tier category so they are always good on average. Maybe you bought the cheap but shit wines with a "good name"
>but itself Chianti style is good
Specially with fava beans, amirite.
u rite
I get Shiner bock, Negra Modelo, or if I have $0 monies, Coors. There are some really good US meme beers I could recommend, but they're mostly local. We have Belgium trappist shit here, but it's a bit more expensive. The problem with a lot of European beer is that they ship it in green bottles exposed to light so by the time it makes it to the US it's all skunk.
>bad beer
Wrong.
you're a tosser mate
aus wine is top shelf
Not really, i mean we get a lot of it up here but no one i know has ever bought any
Never heard of it.
Maybe. Hard to say. Honestly I'm not super interested in revisiting Italian wine because of how consistently disappointed I was. But I'm going to guess Italian wine goes better with Italian food than it does with the French/Anglocanuck stuff I usually eat, even if I'm technically pairing correctly.
I'm sure good Italian wine exists, but it's annoying to find it if you don't speak Italian or can import it directly. Similar to American beer: most of the stuff that makes it over the border is owned by huge breweries that produce mediocre to piss poor beer, mostly at low proof. So there's a reputation for American been being bland and low proof, but really it's that only the megabreweries can afford to export into Canada.
2bh the best wines I've had have been from France and South Africa. South African wine is way underpriced, and we should all drink it while it's still listed at a reasonable price. Canadian wine, especially Niagara wine, is also undervalued, but to a lesser extent and prices have been creeping upwards lately.
no, we make really good wine ourselves and people just drink local.
tho in recent years, i've seen lots of Chilean wine getting popular here and they are really good
>California wine
>same grapes
>same everything in fact
>apart from added ingredients to make sure you get cancer by the age of 60
enjoy being killed off so the government doesnt have to pay ur pension
/x/ is that way my friend.
nope
theres a damn film about california wine BTFO snobby europeenz wine.
baka you guys just throwing salt
and it makes me, oh so very very sad
;_;
I only drink Russian wines.
And Belarusian.
I only drink Brazilian wine.
Except wine depends A LOT on the location the grapes are raised. And if the "added ingredients" you're talking about is sodium bisulfite, well, most wines nowadays use it. (It's safe BTW)
never heard of it
...
not really, Niagara wine is pretty well known though
When I was there, your supermarkets were full of Georgian and Armenian wine. Maybeer and Syktyvkarskaya was my favorite beer in Russia
MAAAAHHAAAA THE CALIFORNIAN CHAMPAGNE
Our supermarkets are full of any wine. Wine is not under sanctions.
> Syktyvkarskaya
First time I hear. Googling shows pictures of "vyatich" I think I've seen it in shops maybe tried.
We are full of craft beer now and fresh beer from kegs.
Even large breweries make IPA and all that shit.
pls buy chilean wine
later
>mfw my friend got shitfaced with gato en caja
Shit smells awful
Reminder that South-American wines are superior to European wines
>Craft beer
In Russia? Nice. I didn't know that it is popular now. Russian IPA does sound nice. I must try.
Be careful. Some wine from Alsace are top-tier, but yes. Argentine are the best.
This.
Finns know what's good
> In Russia?
It's a trend everywhere in the world for some time.
>Californian wine
You mean cheap Bordeaux ? Because you bought the exact same type of soil and vines and then labelled it "californian"
>Tomaticán al almuerzo, bajarse subidón de cartoné y guitrear en el mismo día
Unforgettable experience my dog
Fair enough, but I do not remember seeing Russian made IPA at Пятёpoчкa.
lel no
We got dirt cheap wine at will (which is sometimes bretty good), so those who drink californian wine are only some random hipsters. I've never seen anyone bringing californian wine to a dinner.
