This was pretty good.
but how has this band managed to shroud themselves in secrecy like they have?

Will Homer Flynn (spokesman of The Residents) ever tell us the true names of The Residents?
yeah I really wonder the same thing all the time
they all revealed themselves and bashed kesha on their documentary
explain?
was Not Available an early form of post-rock lads?

Homer confirmed that he was a member recently. And why have they kept their identities a secret? Because they didn't want to be celebrities, they didn't want to be idolized, they actually cared about the art and the music.
go watch Theory of Obscurity
all of them are in it
>And why have they kept their identities a secret? Because they didn't want to be celebrities, they didn't want to be idolized, they actually cared about the art and the music.
pretty admirable

They actually talk about that in their documentary. Give it a watch.
The thing about the Residents is that it is a collective of artists and musicians. There arent 4 members, numerous people over the decades have taken part. The Residents is an anonymous identity that musicians famous and non-famous alike can participate in.
Also I dont recall them bashing Kesha, they just say she definitely took their image. Matt Groening is the one who makes the point that she stole their ic9nic imagery.
Does anyone else hate their live performances from recent years?
>There arent 4 members, numerous people over the decades have taken part.
That sounds very likely but has it ever been confirmed?
Anyway I just discovered these guys and listened to Meet and Not Available, any other must-listens from these guys?
they are the literal opposite of kiss, despite sharing the secret identity thing (at least for a while)
>There arent 4 members, numerous people over the decades have taken part. The Residents is an anonymous identity that musicians famous and non-famous alike can participate in.
Any source on these claims?
Their documentary. Refer to:
Most of those are bootlegs and not concert DVDs. It's a shame. The sound quality is just bad.
>Homer confirmed that he was a member recently
When?
Watch the video I've linked.
All of their original albums from Meet the Residents to Mark of the Mole (give or take Commercial Album), and they also have a compilation from this time period called Residue of the Residents. Some of the 80s albums are alright. Their later stuff is in some ways worse but I still find ways to like some of it, Wormwood is pretty cool.
Any other of their newer albums worth listening to?
Thanks for reminding me to watch Theory of Obscurity, I downloaded that when it came out but forgot about it.
Eskimo is pretty good. I suggest you move on to that one, other than that like other user said most of their stuff from the 70s is god tier
I have to listen to that again, I tried to a while back and it did nothing for me.
It's the Beatles, somebody just drew on their faces.
surprised that cover was given the all clear
Honestly that one's one of those Trout Mask Replica things you gotta listen to a few times to like
I listened to it after Not Available, which blew me away. Kind of attributed it to that. I'll try to give it another listen though.
Mmh, yeah, that'll do it
You gotta go into Eskimo expecting experimental, but not The Residents as you know them. You'll enjoy it a lot more if you treat it as a separate entity from Meet or Not Available. I know that sounds pretentious but do hear me out.
