/gpg/ Guitar picks general : Tortex edition

This thread is for the discussion of guitar picks. What kind of pick thickness do you prefer ?
Any weird shaped pick users out there?

MODS

i use my fingers.

Fingerstyle you degenerate

jazz 3

>literally killing turtles to play guitar

the thickest pick available, sometimes I will use a penny

Whats the difference between a tortex, a gator grip and a ultex? Both the same thickness

>Not being proficient at both

I hope you don't call yourselves musicians.

1mm

>tfw playing with the best

.50 mm MASTER RACE

Anything heavier is nonsense

use Yellow Turtles or just kill you're self

how can you stand such thin flippy and uncontrollable pics?

blue or purple dude
.88 and under you might as well put on a dress, a pair of docs, and play some sappy lesbo folk

Can you get these in .88 ? .73 is a bit too thin for my liking

I like the weird triangular ones. very nice for the mandolin but ive grown to like using them for guitar too!

BLUE FOR LIFE

On acoustic anyway. I spose those weirdos with their fancy shmancy "electronic" guitars might go thinner.

BDP (big dick pick) coming through

anything lower than blue is for squares and sissies

uh this is as good a place as any.
But when I play, I have a tendency/habit to constantly flip my pick around, midplaying, I'll be playing a fast section and just flip it, compulsively. I didn't realize for a while until someone came up to me back in highschool (guitar class) and was like "you spin your pick around a lot is that like a technique?" or s/t and I was like wait what

does anyone else do that

use a star pick and you wont

this, though I don't play lead

feel like I have much more freedom with rhythms and muting without a pick

I use the green one when playing bass and I like the orange one for guitar

I used to use red and orange when I was younger, but now I use yellows greens and blues since Ive taken up jazz guitar

I mostly play with my fingers because bass but when I do occasionally use a pick I'm all about the yellow jazz 3s. Greens are good too I just like a little flexibility. Makes it easier for me since I don't use picks often.

Gator Grip material feels pretty much the same as Tortex, but it has kind of a rough beveled edge while Tortex picks have a flat edge. I'm not much of a fan of the Gator edge. Haven't tried Ultex

step up to a heavier pic m8
you can get the sound of a tin pick by adjusting your grip
I also find heavier picks make it easier to tuck the pic between my index finger and middle finger when I want to pick with my pinky, ring, and middle, while hammering with my thumb.

probably not jazz as is taught, but jazz should never be taught

>1.5mm

Metal finger picks for that genuine hillbilly sound.

heh, nice meme

Okay real talk, what other picks are worth using? I use the .73's and they're pretty damn good at about doing any style I play. Not even trying to shill but what else is there?

Go thicker. Thicker picks give you more control especially for fast single-note stuff. Try some Jazz IIIs

Pic related master race, although they've ruined all other picks for me desu.

But now that I think k about it I probably just use my fingers more than anything

>pic

>nylon Jazz III
>not Tortex Jazz III

the magic pic

I'm always on and off about those. I had a phase where I went from the orange tortex to jazz IIIs and thought they were awesome. Then I used the .73s and haven't gone back. Granted I play a lot of metal with big chords so having that flexibility helped.

I love them small but thicc
>god-tier
>ok-tier
>shit-tier

In reverse (fuckin mobile eh)

not using Custom Buffalo Horn Jazz IIIs

step up your game

>mfw I got this for $10
>mfw I somehow thought it came with two of each

I just any pick i can find around my house but i've used very thick picks ever since i had my first acoustic. Sometimes i cut out old cards and i use them as picks lel

>right now using a purple tortex

Used to exclusively use the orange .60 tortex picks, but found out how much they flex made it harder for me to play and do shit like tremolo picking.

Slowly tried out different picks, and landed on these.

>bassist
>pick

dropped

Fucking this. These are absolute god-tier.

>TFW they feel nice and powdery right out of the package

Only correct answer.
