because he made a song CASH himself covered before he died, and NIN is one guy
How American is Trent Reznor?
>what are their essential albums?
The Downward Spiral
The Fragile
Broken
I'd recommend the entire discography personally.
>Why should I care about them
If you are looking for some of the most honest and personal music out there with great themes, amazing super instrumentals, visceral rage and genuine feels, amazing some of the best concept albums, The Downward Spiral being literally flawlessly executed then NIN is for you
The Downward Spiral might just be the best concept album of all time, hell, best album of all time. Every single album has some form of a hit, litereally every single one, the guy never released bad album once, all of them have amazing replay value as they hide a lot, you will not hear everything and notice everything upon your first listen, this goes even to their more accesible album like With_Teeth. This goes for sounds and themes.
>NIN is one guy
not anymore. since atticus ross is an "official bandmate".
It has been one guy for decades, it's two guys now pretty much
Why would he cuck himself like that after all these years?
Trent has been working with Atticus for years by now. They make a nice duo.
Pic related, [WITH_TEETH], Year Zero, and even Hesitation Marks were all solid, they're less angsty even. How To Destroy Angels is also great:

Still the distinctly NIN sound. Then The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack with Atticus Ross. Trent Reznor is a pro producer.

This song right here is Hesitation Marks at its best.
The Slip was great as well, all albums were. I personally loved Hesitation Marks, it was still dark as fuck but it was much more subtle about it.
The Slip sucked the shit right out the ass.
I love Personal Jesus
doesn't he have a 3 inch wang doodle
Is this true? If so that kind of makes me feel bad for Trent, but I can totally imagine him a small dick.
youtube.com
Don't make me do something to you, like argue over internet angressively.
Courney Love was just being a lying cunt.
Courtney love spread a rumor that she was pregnant with Trent's baby in the mid nineties for publicity, but when Trent said he's never had sex with her, she threw a tantrum and made a lame pun about his band name.
Then Trent said "fuck you" to Courney in "Starfuckers" on the Fragile probably.
Props to Trent for leaving that slimmy piece of shit.
All men aren't born equal.
well that explains why he married an Asian chick
>Props to Trent for leaving that slimmy piece of shit.
He never dated her.
highly influential artist with a solid discography. desu a lot of his shit includes cringeworthy lyrics but god-tier production value. i was a huge fan in high school and i'm not entirely embarrassed about it in retrospect.
She's a Filipino American tho
Shit, I thought there was something, guess I was mistaken.
still Asian
Courtney Love is a total kike
She is a shallow little bitch, trying to make a scene.
Lol, how can they release soundtracks as Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross anymore when that literally equates to Nine Inch Nails now?
how is his relationship with Marilyn Manson nowadays?
nonexistent. MM hates him
I'm in the same boat with OP. I just started listening to Hesitation Marks. "Copy of A" is nice. I really like it.
What about Nivek Ogre? Does Ogre still have beef?
Reznor had some harsh words for the Antichrist Superstar, saying, "He is a malicious guy and will step on anybody's face to succeed and cross any line of decency. Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he's become a dopey clown."
rollingstone.com
sh1t son. It's true though...just compare the way Trent turned out to MM...Trent got buff and fit, MM is chubby and in very poor physical shape.
The fragile(the most essential one), the downward spiral, ghosts I-IV , broken and year zero. Hi for the ambient heavy movie soundtracks if you're into that sort.
Saw NiN are releasing an EP sometime in 2017 but are they also going to do an album or is the EP all we're getting?
They had a fling (prolly 1 night stand(s)) and it really pissed off people in his inner circle like Tori Amos. Then he tried to deny it
no offensive 2 him but there was dozens of more famous people she could have lied about fucking and he was mad enough to write a song about it so...
>The fragile
>the most essential one
why
Pretty Hate Machine: 9
Broken: 8
The Downward Spiral: 10
The Fragile: 8
With Teeth: 4
Year Zero: 6
The Slip: 7
Ghosts I-IV: 9
Hesitation Marks: 8
Overall for essentials I'd say PHM, TDS, snd Ghosts. Really covers his roots, his 'peak,' and his modern work.
What about Fixed, dont like that one?
They are releasing an EP on the 23rd, don't know about 2017 though
It's a remix album my nigga
That being said I was never a huge fan of it, I guess I'd give it a 6
Fixed is a remix album, this poster rated all of the core albums.
I think Broken and the Fragile deserve some 10's too. Broken doesn't have a single flaw on it and the sheer scope and number of amazing tracks on The Fragile is amazing.
Totally got it right with everything else and I'm glad Hesitation Marks is getting love in this thread. It's an amazing album.
>them
Don't get me wrong I love both albums, but Broken feels too much like he really wanted to be Al Jourgensen's best friend and The Fragile is honestly hampered by its huge scope (i.e. I love the instrumental and industrial tracks but it's brought down by the poppy tracks)
Hell yes on Hesitation Marks though. I don't get why so many people have written it off as Trent finally running out of ideas or something. To me it feels like what a 23 year old Trent would have written had he started making music nowadays instead of being limited to drum machines and DX7s
>cringeworthy lyrics
that's why you listen to ghosts
>and NIN is one guy
uh, no. Trent had a lot of help in the studio with numerous session musicians. Look at the album credits some time. Pretty Hate Machine was the most solo album he's done.
they got over it but aren't about to reunite any time soon.
instagram.com
There wasn't really any beef. They still performed together in the early 90's.

>There wasn't really any beef. They still performed together in the early 90's.
Yeah but later on it got weird. But then again Nivek is a weird guy...he just kinda does and says whatever the fuck he wants.
...
His brain is fried...and so is cEvin Key's. Just check out cEvin's fb...he smokes way too much weed.
I knew Ogre has an fb but I'm not too surprised he types fucking weird like that. still not Genesis P-Orridge facebook weird.
I read a interview with a groupie that says hes at average/above average iirc. And that he like threesomes hot wax and mommy issues
Yeah but he's had many band mates, like Robin fink. Anyone who plays with the band is technically considered a member for the time they contributed. Trent is still the main writer and producer
Oh god, as much as i love he/r, I swear all gen does is share buzzfeed articles on Facebook
I've never gotten into NIN. I've tried Downward Spiral and Broken which seem to be some of the albums people recommend the most. At least so far nothing about NIN's music has been that interesting to me. Yet people seem to go crazy about it.
>Broken
>album
It's still essential and counts and is very important for NIN. It was the first showcase fo agression ever, what was before Broken? Pretty Hate Machine
>what is HLAH
>what is Sin
Don't worry guys, here's the real ratings:
Pretty Hate Machine: 7
Broken: 7
The Downward Spiral: 10
The Fragile: 9
With Teeth: 5
Year Zero: 5
The Slip: 2
Ghosts I-IV: 8
Hesitation Marks: 2
kys
I'm becoming less defined as days go by, fading away... well you might say I'm losing focus... kinda drifting into the abstract in terms of how I see myself. Sometimes I think I can see right through myself. Less concerned about fitting into the world, your world that is, cause it doesn't really matter anymore. No it doesn't really matter anymore.
>middle-aged millionaire singing about fight club
...
Pretty Hate Machine: 8
Broken: 8
The Downward Spiral: 10
The Fragile: 10
Still: 10
With Teeth: 6
Year Zero: 8.5
The Slip: 7.5
Ghosts I-IV: 8
Hesitation Marks: 7.5
Pretty Hate Machine: 7

Not The Actual Events: 8/9 (Really hard to judge, requires much more listens.
By the way, why is no one talking about new NIN on this thread?
>Year Zero: 5
>The Slip: 2
fuck you m8
This, The Slip is over looked,, it's amazing.
Post your favorite NIN remix album...
this one takes the cake for me. Trent's insanity mingled with Coil's brooding darkness creates a demonic Remix album...
literal skinny puppy ripoff
...
HOLY FUCK IT LEAKED??????
Nope, for people who pre-ordered Trent released it a day earlier. Sending them a video of one song and the entire album in their email sooner.
yes it has.
But it's just shitty Uploaded links right now.
I'm downloading atm
It's an entire EP. All 5 tracks were sent out.
>one track from the 80's took inspiration and sampled from skinny puppy
>almost 2017 and autists like you still mention this like it's relevant
breh u just fell for bait
bait or not, there are people out there who still honestly believe this
just downloaded
especially on Sup Forums
this place is loaded with contrarian hipsters that love to go off about how any given artist who emerged from any given scene is just a 'blatant rip off' of a pioneering but more obscure artist of said scene
I hadn't either before last year but holy shit did Pretty Hate Machine fuck my shit up.
It's a melodically diverse album, pulling from rock, metal, electronic, and hip-hop while still maintaining a coherent song structure consistently. It was also made in the late 80s so it gives a really interesting perspective on how this album influenced the next decade.
I need to give The Downward Spiral the same attention I gave PHM but I'm still not quite over how good the debut is. For what it's worth, I listen to hundreds and hundreds of different albums every year and was still amazed by NIN's first 2 albums.
thats just so he gets a higher % payback from the record labels
>Hesitation Marks: 2
opinion discarded
Pretty Hate Machine:9
Broken:9,5
The Downward Spiral:10
The Fragile:10
With Teeth: 5,5
Year Zero:8
The Slip:6,5
Ghosts I-IV:9
Hesitation Marks:7
I like the fragile more but tds is more essential
