In Japan, there is a stronger conservative lean then liberal. The liberal teachers want to teach things like the nanking massacre but the conservative government blocks it. Actually, they lowered the standards of becoming a teacher in Japan just to weaken teacher unions.

I'm in svalley, there is talk about diversity, and people say they're going to do something about it. But tech companies just hire the best, and the best turn out to be... well you know white indian and asian. BTW svalley is one of the most diverse places on the planet. Management just doesn't care because they can't quantify productivity in programming (hence why java was a thing) and they work for half as much.

For the most part. My indian co-workers (I have 2) definitely have programming skills, and to pass our interview process, had to know a shit ton of networking, which most coders don't know anything about.

When I was headhunted for my current job it was because of my activity on github and most of the people I know all have active profiles and projects they contribute to.

I'll agree with you about Asians and language is an issue. They also are embarrassed by their accents so sometimes they even can speak decent English but you would never fucking know it. Also they never feel comfortable asking questions so they'll wait until after the meeting to ask you a question that they should have just asked at the damn meeting
