You thought 2016 was batshit crazy with its slew of politically themed releases, wait till 2017. That's where the dam's gonna finally break from the overflow. Chances are, like most of 2016's political releases, 2017 will also have a lot of musically mediocre stuff that people will call important because of muh political themes. It's like Vietnam War era all over again with its slew of anti-war protest musicians whose relevancy just went up and disappeared once the war was over.

The new Bjork album is gonna be fucking lit.

St. Vincent's new album with be AOTY

new tool album

paul mccartney dies again

this was the only mostly-accurate prediction of 2016 I could find in the archive baka

You're going to think this regardless of what actually gets released in 2017.

Your most anticipated release in 2017 will be disappointing

I will release AOTY 2017. Screenshot this.

We'll probably get more high profile musician deaths than this year.

Hopefully the unreleased and post Blackstar tracks get released.

This.

Crust punk will become bigger

>Some new crazy eletroinc shit will come out.
>There will be one decent rock album
>Pop will continue shitty dance hall craze
>Drake will have one number 1 and one number 2.
>That Poppy will have a number 1 hit single, will rise to superstardom.
Thats it.

Nah, it's more of the whole "2016 has been one of the worst years in modern history" narrative that's being pushed by mainstream media. I personally don't care for politics, as long as the music itself is good to me that's what matters. Just thought I would start this topic with a seemingly safe and obvious prediction.

This one's close

My 56 year old mother likes St. Vincent. Just thought you'd like 2 know.

Brian Wilson lives another real
Grandaddy AOTY
Kendrick releases nothing
Death Grips new EP
New flaming lips sucks ass
Oasis reunion
and
Bob Dylan kicks the bucket

Screenshot this

Arca just posted on Instagram that Reverie won't be out til next year. Calling that now to be AOTY.

Tell her she has good taste.

Oh and
>Maybe Trance will come back or some old genre will be rehashed, cause Member berries.

>Oasis reunion
you wish

My 53 year old mother likes things too. Thanks user.

The National's new album gets an 8.0 no BNM

I are like truck
Omg dylan as well!!! #fuk2k16

New Clarence Clarity comes out in May and is AOTY
4/5 new Gizzard albums are mediocre, the 1/5 is fantastic tho

Coachella headliners are Radiohead, Beyonce, and some reunion legacy act

2017 is the year we will reach the other side and make contact with the dead. All dead artists have been continuing their discographies in the afterlife which we will gain access to and we'll have a trove of new music to listen to.

death grips announces a new EP over twitter and breaks up 2 hours later

Bjork will die next year

i think it's green day
greenday.com/tour

DELETE THIS

The songs they debuted live sound more adventurous and stronger than more of TWFM though. Plus, they've been going hard on the social stances and p4k's been eating it up, they could easily get BNM again.

Spiritualized comes back with their best album yet

(at least that's what I'm hoping)

The Avalanches release the actual good album they were making.

I haven't heard the new songs but I'm sure I'll personally love the album. But they're just not as "cool" as they once were (though that song they released for their doc last year got BNT so maybe)

i think Brian Wilson will be dead in 2017

The Best Albums of 2017 will belong to:

Iceage
Sam Smith (The Surprise pick, I think He's gonna be something special)
LCD Soundsystem
FKA Twigs
Death Grips
Clarence Clarity
Young Thug

Overrated Albums for 2017:

Grimes
The National
St. Vincent
Alex G
Grandaddy
Mark Koz
Flying Lotus
Arcade Fire (And I'm one of the few that thinks Reflektor is a Masterpiece)

The Mars Volta is going to release another album

Hopefully this. My favorite Band of all time, and Sweet Heart Sweet Light is my Psych AOTD so far, so it's possible forsure

Wildflower is AOTY m8

Yeah, dubs and he really does pass away

>Iceage
>Sam Smith (The Surprise pick, I think He's gonna be something special)
>LCD Soundsystem
>FKA Twigs
>Death Grips
>Clarence Clarity
>Young Thug
Most of these will be awful to mediocre

please god dont make it as shit as the last

boards of canada EP?

>>New flaming lips sucks ass

real bold prediction there m8

I don't know I'm just hoping Jason Pierce goes back to making psychedelic stuff and not more of the same he's put out since 2003

(me)
Get ready boys, just got done reading this article

>independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/jason-pierce-spiritualized-ladies-and-gentlemen-we-are-floating-in-space-barbican-a7402456.html

>Understandably, he’s preoccupied with his forthcoming record, which he says is “the equal if not a lot better than Ladies and Gentlemen”

but then right after he says that it's most likely his last album :' (

I have a new most anticipated album of 2k17.

Looking forward to the new Foxygen as well

It will probably be better than 2016, that's about all I can say.

>Twigs and Clarence Clarity
correct

Holy shit, another Reflektor fag on here.
With all the solo work everyone in AF is focusing on (Will Butler, Owen Pallet, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if their next album sucks balls. None of their creativity will be spent on it
Honestly I'm of the new LCD release for the same reason. This is Happening was by far LCD's worst album, even fucking 45:33 was more cohesive

Grouper will have AOTY
No doubt, no doubt

I pretty much agree with all you have stated, I'm happy to see another Reflektor friend because It is easily their best album since Funeral IMO.

I really hope with the 6 years vacation, James can come back to form. This Is Happening has grown on me a shitload since I had first heard it.

Autechre - elseq 6-10

its gonna rule hard

there's gonna be a new Gorillaz album
there's gonna be a new Ride album
there might be a new Slowdive album
there's gonna be another Gay Venezuelan sewer mutant album
KGWL becomes a lot more popular
the world breaks apart over Cruel Winter
late 90s stylized effect-heavy album covers come back and I am happy again
modest mouse calls it quits, doesn't waste any more time
Iggy Pop dies
Eno dies
all the old Krautrock boys collectively an hero
so will i

Duster comes back...

>Eno dies
fuck u m8

as always
Your 56 year old mother likes industrial black metal?

it'll be peaceful and people will generally like Reflections

don't worry, he's had a good time here

back to the green world

Gorillaz releases new album. It has one huge hit that quickly becomes annoying. The rest of the album feels underwhelming, but some tracks slowly grow on you. Fantano gives a strong 6 to light 7.

Screencap this you faggots

killing myself at the stroke of midnight so it's going to be lit

Thom Yorke realeases a solo album that is voice-based (crazy effects over depressing lyrics, very little instrumentation). It's a 6/10.

Death Grips drop an album comprised entirely of tracks that sound like Hot Head and More Than The Fairy.

best live show will be performed by Justice

>Alive 2017 will be great
>Gorillaz will be AOTY
>Poppy will have a huge hit
>Tonnes of shit Anti Trump punk songs that misses the point of punk
>No Kdot album just a ton of single features
>Death Grips will release 2 LPs and and album
>St. Vincent will be shit

>thinks St. Vincent's album will be bad
>but somehow Gorillaz won't be shit

2016 was one of the most ecstatic years in the 21st century
Everything that was deemed impossible happened

2017 will be no different m8 embrace the absurd

>point of punk

What's the point of punk?

counterculture

So like, opposing the government and stuff?

The new Fleet Foxes album will become Sup Forumscore.

I'm not even memeing, what I've heard so far points to this being a pretty incredible album.

no current culture is PC culture. if you wanted to be truly counter culture you'd be a full alt right band. im not alt right either but you have to admit alt righters are pretty against the status quo.

>the world is this simple

Sorry, this is an 18+ board.

lol, fucking kill yourself dude.

I want to believe..

The alt-right controls the executive branch of the US Government. That's the exact opposite of "counter-culture" you moron.

...

Counterpoint: a radical full communist band who will only be satisfied with a violent working-class uprising and the slaughter of all billionaires?

Yep yep. This music prediction thread turned political. I'm going to go Robin Williams myself..

you guys are so easy to bait.

>get rekt
>muh bait

Trump literally won

America will be made great again.

Every Jew in the entertainment industry will piss and moan about it.

fucking agreed, cant believe how under the radar its flying

taylor swift releases a 7.5/10 album
death grips break up and then reform 6 months later
fleetwood mac might release an album in october or november
shania twain's new album is eh
digital distortion will be better than the new classic

if there's new slowdive it might be great but will probably be horrid beach house shit
If there's new spiritualized it will be great, better than shsl
indie will get even worse, dominated by shitty folk punk and teens of denial inspired garbage

What was it...

we're all gonna fuckin die
please

Kanye will drop new album without announcing it. Screencap this.

so basically you're saying "Gorillaz releases a Gorillaz album"

>folk punk and teens of denial inspired garbage
sounds great

>Duster comes back...
I want to believe..

Not a single new radio album will feature a physical instrument.

is the black meme going to dominate next year as well

it can't be any worse than this year
hoping for good releases from
clarence clarity
sophie/charli xcx
spiritualized
grouper
alvvays
serpentwithfeet
us girls
d'angelo
daft punk

expecting mediocre/bad releases from
grimes
julia holter
run the jewels
muse
andy stott
some death grips project
burial
any rapper or artist with bnm on p4k

>tfw almost all the artists you like delivered albums you dislike in 2016

idk what to expect for the future, i feel sad

Yeah this is right.

all of these will be good

what the fuck

New Boards of Canada? Maybe?

As long as you keep talking about it, yes.

I'm just waiting for that Iglooghost lp tbqh
