Native Americans

Tell me about Native Americans in the USA and Canada,

Are they wise, steely-eyed noble savages with a profound spiritual connection to the land as I like to think?

mostly alcoholics

they're poor (reservation counties are the poorest in the country) alcoholics

Ah! Much like our own dear Irish!

Yes, they are all exactly like that.
Don't listen to the memes about endemic poverty, alcholism, welfare and/or casino shekel dependence, disregard for laws, racism, almost unbelievably high crime rates (as much as 10× the general population), rampant obesity, revisionist history, stupidity, or wanton drug use.

They are a noble people of the land and the rightful owners of the Americas.

The chances of you finding a Native American are next to none unless you're in Alaska or rural parts of Oklahoma and the inland west.

It is debatable whether Cherokee or Navajo are the largest tribe. Cherokee are native to modern-day North Carolina but are mostly found in Oklahoma and other parts of the country due to the dust bowl back in the 30's. There are very very few predominately Cherokee today and next to none are full-blooded. The vast majority of blacks and most "American" Anglo-Celtic whites have some degree of Native ancestry, especially Cherokee.

Navajo are native to the Four Corner region of the Southwest and are originate in what is now Alaska and Yukon. They are perhaps the largest pure-blooded tribe and they have the largest reservation. The Navajo language is the most spoken Native American language.
