Deftones weren't nu-metal though. Bands like Disturbed, Cold, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Seether, and more were nu-metal.

Deftones were actually interesting to listen to a lot of the time. Their influence of drone and ambient added a nice quality to their simplistic arrangements.

I think a lot of people agree that Deftones is pretty much the only redeemable nu-metal band. That being said, they don't sound like your typical chugga chugga nu-metal band like Coal Chamber, P.O.D., Sevendust and the likes so I think it's a little bit unfair to say that.

I like listening to Ill Niño from time to time. They're as campy as any other nu-metal band but I've always considered them super fun to listen.

Stop acting like you didn't discover Sup Forums in 2015

I listened to White Pony for the first time back in July and I've listened to the album almost everyday since. On the other hand, I don't care for any other track by them.

I made the mistake of putting Deftones on Pandora and was immediately greeted with Korn and Chevelle which was complete and utter garbage.


Bottom line, White Pony is the only good Nu Metal album.
