I've been putting off listening to Swans because of the "mu-tier" factor. What one should I start with and which ones should I avoid?

Propping this. You probably want more of their newer stuff, and this is their first comeback album. It's shorter, and doesn't have nauseous 20 minute songs. It's also a varied release, hitting a lot of their styles.
