Merry Christmas (Eve) everyone!

Exuma - Exuma I
Thao and the Get Down Stay Down - A Man Alive
Sleater-Kinney - The Woods

Other stuff I've been listening to and really enjoying:
Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die
Battles - Mirrored
Steve Reich - Different Trains (perf. by Kronos Quartet)

Christmas gonna be here in like 4 hours for me.

Literally just finished listening to YLAOM on vinyl, fantastic shit.
Daniel Johnston-Hi How Are You
Low-I Could Live in Hope
Brave Little Abacus-Just Got Back From the Discomfort We're Alright

Some fine ass choices.
Vic Chesnutt-North Star Destroyer
Connie Converse-How Sad, How Lovely

Really consistent chart, user. Got a RYM account?

Cheers man! Chart directly above you reporting in, just started listening to the Vic Chesnutt and it's fucking fantastic. Thanks for the rec! Not sure how much you like hip hop but try Dead by Young Fathers.

R. Stevie Moore - Phonography

African Head Charge - Songs of Praise

Uranium Club - Human Exploration

Julee Cruise - Floating into the Night

...

Merry Christmas lads!

Other albums I've been enjoying a lot:
Gary Wilson - You Think You Really Know Me
Donald Fagen - Sunken Condos
Jellyfish - Spilt Milk
Deakin - Sleep Cycle

Jordaan Mason and the Horse Head - Divorce Lawyers I Shaved My Head
Michael Cera - True That

get into King Missile

The Pastels, Guided by Voices, Built to Spill, Thingy, Fishmans, Daniel Johnston.
Deerhunter, sd laika, Braid, Pinback
This is already pretty great. Maybe Ovlov?
Nice, idk probably Charli xcx or Arca
oh it's this again. Listen to Street Smart Cyclists, it's actually Jon Galm's good band.

Merry Christmas you beautiful anons. I toast my hot choco to thee. Have a grand day and an even better new year, this maybe my last thread of Sup Forums - life is on the up & up - feels amazing man. So here's to memes.

Tell me your AOTY and i'll 100% listen to it.

merry christmas & all that
how does K.A. rank in Magma's discog for you?
Far Out - Nihonjin
Jacks - Vacant World
Gate - The Dew Line
Nichard Dixon - South to South Bend and 5 Miles to Niles
Julia Brown - To Be Close to You
think I've seen you in chartposting before
Antipop Consortium - Arrhythmia
Babyfather - 419
Iglooghost - Chinese Nü Yr

Merry Xmas to you too user! My AOTY was Blackstar but you've probs already listened to it so you can check out my #2: The Drones - Feelin' Kinda Free.

merry Xmas kind user. My album of the year was Sleep Cycle by Deakin

Merry Xmas. My AOTY was also Blackstar because I'm a giant cliche. But check out Black Ben Carson by JPEGMAFIA if you like noisy hip-hop.

Beatnigs - s/t
Shabazz Palaces - Black Up

Tommy Wright III - On the Run

>life is on the up & up
I'm happy for you user

my AOTY is Moro - San Benito

Thank you anons and tripfriend! I kinda skipped 2016 New music except the the super big ones. Thanks for these recs, much appreciated

I really didn't like 2016 as far as music goes, but The Glowing Man was my AOTY.
It's the weakest of the three I've heard, but still great.

OP here. Merry Xmas user! mine would
either have to be Teens of Denial or Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not

Merry Christmas too you too kinda user, AOTY was Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition (no meme)

Good fortune to you user :^)

>Tell me your AOTY and i'll 100% listen to it.
Deerhoof's was really good and flew under the radar a bit. never seen it as anyone's top pick

>think I've seen you in chartposting before
yeah I shill this chart a lot.
I'll check those out, thanks.
you should listen to Xiu Xiu covering Twin Peaks if haven't already.

Already into Shabazz but I'll have to check out Beatnigs, what can I expect.

Enemies - Indian Summer
Rooftops - Raft easily
Sticky fingers - Just for you
Violent Soho - Dope Calypso
Oddisee - Counter Clock wise
Coldplay - Don't Panic
Wild Nothing - Nocturne
This Town Needs Guns - Cat Fantastic
Sticky fingers - How to fly

Beatnigs is one the earliest industrial hip-hop acts. Michael Franti who later formed Disposable Heroes of Hip-hoprisy was in it, they're similar but Beatnigs was more abrasive. They only had one album.

I personally feel that K.A. takes elements from their other records and refines the sound and style to an accessible degree. Probably one of my favourites from them, but I can understand why you think it's the weakest.
I fell for the Xiu Xiu Plays The Music Of Twin Peaks meme, probably in my top 10 for the year.

>refines the sound and style to an accessible degree
Part of why it didn't click on the same level. I prefer my Magma out of whack.

Chinese Football, Elephant Gym, Piglet, Clever Girl, Enemies, Two Knights, Toe, Miami Heat, Invalids, Stage Kids, Spraynard, Diarrhea Planet, Adventures, The Brave Little Abacus.

You'll like all of these, we have roughly the same taste.

clearly Australian and you clearly listen to too much Triple J

I'll take a look, thanks so much dude !

I would like to say that there are a few selected artists I enjoy that get played on triple J.

Carseat headrest was one of them

Moonshake - Eva Luna
Overhead - Silent Witness
Guru - Jazzmatazz
Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever
Bluetile Lounge - Lowercase

La Luna - Always Already

Pill - Convenience
Einsturzende Neubauten - Silence is Sexy

wow thats a lot, thanks most of these are pretty great

The only good artists on Triple J are the ones blowing up overseas as well. It's nothing but commercial pop radio with a vaguely alternative sheen. The Hottest 100 is almost guaranteed to be shit because the top spot will go to some shitty Australian act like The Rubens or Chet Faker and not an artist who's actually good. Nothing makes me angrier than the crowd of twentysomethings who listen to Triple J and think that it puts them above all other music listeners.

JPEGMAFIA - Black Ben Carson

Nothing puts me angrier when people assume the worst of people when they indulge in a little bit of radio.

I have to agree though, the hottest 100 is a whole bunch of trash. The only reason "twentysomething" year old's listen to it, is because it literally has a brand name of being "hip."

Emply young casters, create a Unearthed segment for "indie" artists. What more could give to make that more of an indie label ( when in fact its corporate trash )

went through depression and anxiety for a while, only found this Duster album recently would love stuff in the same vein as this

I have nothing against radio itself. I'm an announcer on a community station near my house and I've been introduced to more good music doing that (and listening to other community stations) than on pretty much every other station combined. Local radio is where it's at honestly. You find such a high concentration of people with significantly off-centre taste who are all happy to talk shop with you in a really informed and open-minded way.

It's Triple J specifically that rubs me the wrong way. The whole 'Music is my life because I listen to Good Nights with Linda Marigliano' attitude turns me off immediately. These people exist, and they make me sick.

I would like to say that they don't have the access or people around them to be able to convey or spread their musical ideas?

Perhaps, though that would have made a more convincing argument in the pre-internet era, when there weren't as many outlets to explore and discuss music.

I recognize that my distaste is probably a little too acute to be reasonable (I'm probably just nursing my own superiority complex). But that's not enough to stop me.

Devin the Dude - The Dude

Sorry had to go to christmas eve mass with my family

Yeah I do, haven't updated it in a while though, I should get back to that. Whats yours? Is it just GrimesCuck?

Glad you're liking it! I'll check that out.

Floating into the Night is already on my chart, so you did an excellent job with your recommendation.

Thanks for the rec, looks interesting.

Merry christmas to you too.

rateyourmusic.com/~JamesCairns
Nah, I made my account before I became GrimesCuck.

Oh and you've almost defintely heard my AOTY, but its Skeleton Tree, but if you're going through 2016 albums you gotta listen to Marked For Death by Emma Ruth Rundle its great.

recs please

Kinda similar to mine. I didn't see Duster, Spacemen 3, The Deviants, empire! empire!, Sikiera, Mclusky, or Envy on there, you might like them

Posting again from last thread
I like raw synthesizers, concept albums (preferably about end of the world) and unique instrumentation

Islaja - Palaa Aurinkoon
Jüppala Kääpiö - Sporing Promenade

If you like the folky shit from Ultraviolence, you might like Jenny Lewis's Acid Tongue.

424 has mellow psychedelic rock but they sing in Spanish. Siempre Mar is better than Oro so just listen to that.

Also Jon Bellion's mixtapes if you haven't heard them (he loves Kanye and Chance apparently).

...

wobble factor by tipper

>god why

put some death grips and blank banshee on your chart to complete the mucore pie

...

guys im sorry i did drugs

yeah i was thinkin about throwin on DI Goes Pop

hell yeah this is a nice original chart that shows that you are a real human being instead of a /mu drone

merry christmas, my dudes

oh boy
check out either their first album, repetition, or there last album

or preferably all three since their discography is p much perfect

but all those bands albums are either bad or at best inconsequential, unlike the 'mucore' albums i selected

but 5 eps are better

Recs would be nice.

>La Luna - Always Already
Haven't seen them mentioned except for in my hometown, are you a Calgaryfriend?
Also, listen to Shudder to Think - Pony Express Record

Anathallo - Canopy Glow
Thee More Shallows - More Deep Cuts

Odd Nosdam - Burner
Maths - Ascent

pg.99 - Document #8

I was about to say "aren't memes supposed to be funny?" but then I remembered that 80% of the memes that are created on this board aren't funny anyways.

Yo I'm So Hollow's so good
