>Why is the US trying to destroy electronic music
You wouldn't even have house music without the US, you fucking aspie. And this is not coming from an American.
Also,
>caring about what fucking ULTRA posts on its channel
Really, there are hundreds of raves every day around the world that have nothing to do with the kind of music Ultra posts. Maybe you should pay attention to that.
PPAP is legend though.
>trying to destroy electronic music
>implying that one meme song by an artist only known in Japan is going to kill a genre
i unironically enjoy this song
>LITERALLY
>this gets 25 million views
people are so stupid and lack any knowledge of art holy shit
i can just see it now
"haha whats an apple pen"
"omg look how he dances its so funny"
"lol i like the beat"
>US destroying electronic music with a meme song by a meme guy on fucking ultra music.
no, if anything, americans made electronic music better for their contributions to it over the years
>no, if anything, americans made electronic music better for their contributions to it over the years
lol no they didn't, they fucking ruined it tbqh
Europeans like Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Morodor, Jarre etc laid nice framework which the US shat all over (with house). Now we have "house" EDM. Now it's all just meme shite.
Wow thanks USA.
sorry your generic and boring producers arent popular anymore. i dont like a majority of house EDM producers but its a lot better and more fun to listen to than 20 minute progressive chords and random noises like kraftwerk and shit
>you're all just sheep
>i'm the only concious being
excuse me but you seem to be implying trance was good
thank fuck that shit isn't popular anymore
i don't know who or what ultra music is
pikotaro (sp?) is a japanese comedian, the ppap song is a song from one of his sketch characters, no reason to get offended.
I HAVE A PEN
>i don't know who or what ultra music is
It's the biggest electronic music promoter and EDM label manager in the world.
You don't even know what a rave is, you autist. Hell, your autism doesn't make you able to grasp the difference between electronic music to listen to and electronic music to dance to.
Yes, I'm mad.
>People getting mad over this stuff
lol
>not getting mad at how easily expoited people are by "art"
EDM to listen to: house, trance, techno, other slow bpm
EDM to dance to: dubstep, synthpop, hardcore, faster bpm
you can listen to dubstep and all that shit on your own just fine, and dance to shit like trance just fine. its just thats what the purpose of those genres are
and this is coming from someone who goes to EDM festivals/venues whenever i get the chance
That beat though
this only shows you how ultra music doesnt give a crap about music, they are working for the big labels
>it's a "yuropoor shoehorning his feelings of inferiority into a shitty anti-American bait post" episode
...
This song is a materpiece.
This singer is a genius.
ONLY THE CHOSEN ONES CAN SEE IT.
Thats maybe because i'm atleast seven year ahead of this time.
>Meme video getting popular
>Said meme gets exploited and uploaded by multiple individuals
Anything new?
try 100 million kid, not including all the vultures stealing views all garnering millions and millions more views
Ohhh, so this is what The Battle Cats promo was about?
ha
Literally all those are to dance to.
I go to techno raves all the fucking time..
House and trance are kinda dead here, but they're just as danceable as all the others.
You forgot d'nb, and I don't even understand why you list hardcore and then faster bpm, when standard tempo for hardcore is 180 bpm..
the "faster bpm" was in comparison to the "slower bpm" i mentioned in the other sentence.
and i was talking about music specifically designed for dancing/performing live. dubstep sounds good on my headphones, but when i hear it at a festival its ten times better. when i listen to, say, deadmau5, it doesnt sound better live because its progressive fucking house.
I guess it's semantics, but from an etymological view I greatly dislike anything with "progressive" in it when talking about electronic music shit. It's electro house for me, which is characterized by the typical saw synth opened up with the sustain and a filter during climax during a 4/4 tempo. Ofcourse there's nuances and changes on this concept, but generally this is the shit.
Also,
>dubstep "performed" live
You like it for the wobble yeah? I guess dubstep can be nice, but I rarely find it enjoyable and that's when it's dark and as opposed to "dubsounding" as possible if you know what I mean.
You should try to go to a techno party with a good lineup, you'll be amazed how entrancing that shit can be
Why is the PPAP thing so popular tho
Watched once, it was just your average shitty japanese humor
pen-pineapple-apple-pen
How in the fuck is this:
youtube.com
"music to listen to"?
I don't know what kind of edm festivals you are attending but they're definitely not the good ones.
since i like EDM a lot i like to be specific, but i dislike "progressive" too. boring shit. electro house is good, a lot of it is exciting to hear live and even on headphones ie porter robinson, though hes more synthpop.
>dubstep
not the wobble, no. most 2015-2016 modern dubstep/brostep doesnt "wobble" anymore, its more just really loud and violent sounded synths just firing off since the "dubsounding" shit was like 128 bpm by default or something, n new dubstep is 140-150 bpm.
i love shit like this, though its uninspired for the most part, its damn fun to headbang to live
youtu.be
>techno
ive seen a few house artists live, and the only reason i went to their performances was because i was killing time in between seeing other people. ie i saw Anevo live, right before seeing NGHTMRE live. didnt like Anevos set because it was boring. too much house with generic "bouncy" drops. but loved NGHTMREs because he played high bpm dubstep and riddim.
>music
>art
if you can't admire it with your eyes, it's not art
i think you misunderstood my post. what you posted just sounds like garage house or something. yeah, thats something youd throw on at home in the background.
the edm festivals i go to have artists that play high bpm music, exciting music, loud music. that song is boring to me, but it is subjective at the end of the day
>garage house
>doesn't know tech house
>the edm festivals i go to have artists that play high bpm music, exciting music, loud music. that song is boring to me
>fucking Marco Carola played this in one of his sets
Dude, please, stop, you're just embarrassing yourself.
what the fuck are you talking about? im talking about mainstream EDM. festivals that include no-names are fucking garbage
>Marco Carola
>a no-name
Really, stop embarrassing yourself.
Not sure what message this post is trying to send. I never said you can't dance to breakbeat. I was just replying to that guy who said that house and techno are "to listen to" while dubstep is "to dance to".
what the fuck do you dance to in terms of house and techno? the kick drum, the high hats, and the snare? the slow and boring chord progression?
and you can dance and have a good time with electro house or bass house.
go to a big, popular EDM festival like ultra miami, EDC las vegas, electric zoo NY. see the mainstream artists play like getter, skrillex, barely alive, excision, etc.
then go to a venue with a house/techno producer and tell me which one you have more fun at
It depends what "house" music you are talking about. I think 'classic house' music from the 80's is pretty good because some songs resemble italo-disco music.
I'm trying to say that the music you posted "to dance" to is weak ass shit and personally snores me to death when I should dance to it.
But I am a bigger proponent of the darker themed music, so I won't try to get all up in your stuff about it.

Last two is stuff from my country, love that shit.
Electronic used to be like a cool, underground thing, espically in america were all the electronic music wasnt embraced by the mainstream.
Then somewhere in the early teens venture capitalists decided that millinials needed music to be marketed to them in order to have their wealth extracted and now electronic music is the corporate abomination known as EDM, and even your mom is all " hey son what if we dropped the bass xDDD"
So, as a guy who used to like electronic music, i hope it dies hard, with a vengeance and frat boys and normies go back to listening to Korn
Also, this motherfucker is epic. Old, but epic.
youtube.com
>then go to a venue with a house/techno producer and tell me which one you have more fun at
Well, that's pretty much all I do and I would never change a tech/deep house venue for one playing shitty electro house.
How in the hell can you prefer fucking EXCISION to something like this?
youtube.com
Sorry, but us, Europeans, have Stockhausen, Schaeffer, Luc Ferrari, Iannis Xenakis and much more.
What do you cucks have?
>So, as a guy who used to like electronic music, i hope it dies hard
Go to different places, you dummy. If I, who live in a third world country, can dance to great house/techno every weekend I don't know how you can't in the US.
looks painfully fucking boring to me. boiler room sets are never exciting, not even the skrillex one.
and i dont like excision on headphones. not even on my stereo speakers. hes fucking superb live and im going to see him live for the first time next march. i mean, look at how high-octane this shit is:
youtube.com
Because they have no culture and anything they touch gets raped until it's dried out and dead and then gets forcefed to the public under the guise of it being hip and cool. Sadly alot of Western countries follow suit with what the US does because they're also such sheep.
for what genres? or do you mean just in general?
Style over substance, basically. No sense of ambiance whatsoever. Also, I imagine everyone is drunk there because doing molly at that place would be the biggest waste of money.
It feels good I don't have to deal with that kind of subpar electronic music in my country :^)
Amerifats already ruined music
Dubstep was the fucking shit up until 2011ish when amerifats found out what it was and ruined the genre forever
because there doesnt need to be fucking ambiance in a rave. its literally getting as high as possible and just letting the fuck go and enjoying yourself. if i want ambiance in my EDM live sets i go see porter robinson. which i have and hes the best artist ive ever seen live. but thats because he balanced music, with visuals, with lighting, with emotion. excision does the same, but with dubstep instead of synthpop/electro house.
im glad to live in america because i get to go to all these raves and have a lot of fun, and can do so every week because america made edm great again
>electronic """""""music"""""""
Jesus. I can't stand more than 15 seconds of that. I'm cringing so hard, no offense.
It all has its merits dude. I've been to smaller venues where the hardcore or d'nb was in basement-like part of an abbey. Same with dub and acid-tek. I've been to raves with these projections which are just disturbing to watch, but somehow fucking hypnotic. I've been to parties where they project lesbian porn while they're spinning. I vastly prefer smaller spaces than open ones to be honest, because the atmosphere is so much different. More confined, less annoying festival generic obnoxious cunts running around as well.
>white people have no culture
You're so entrenched in it you wouldn't notice it. It's like an involuntary bodily function, you take it for granted.
Everything in the world has been influenced heavily by white european culture.
The only places untouched are some parts of sub-saharan Africa, there is no hope for those people.
i guess its all taste at the end of the day. take note im only 18. ive been listening to EDM and rave music since 2010. i technically "grew up" listening to it. since ive turned 18 ive been planning and going to as many festivals and shows possible. and i honestly do like almost every subgenre of EDM out there, i just like it for different reasons and listen to it at different times. and i prefer open, large environments because that gives the opportunity for larger stages, that can hold a larger screen for better visuals, more smoke machines and fireworks and shit, more spots for lighting effects, and all that. a lot of the live experience for me is visual, and a small basement venue doesnt fit that bill for me
>take note im only 18. ive been listening to EDM and rave music since 2010
thanks for contributing to the discussion user
I hate normie memes.
No, I'm saying Americans have no culture LOL. In the US they take everything that's made make it overtly decadent and then let it die off while its spread to the rest of its Western underlings. If it's US homebrewn it's destroyed even before it can leave the continent.
In Europe there's still room for change and refinement. I'm not saying this to feel superior, I'm saying this because I'm sad the US destroys everything it touches. I just hope it doesn't find out about the good things we have here. Take shit like Pizza Hut for example. Those pizza's are delicious, but also perverse at the same time. It's disgusting that Americans can't find a compromise between things that are refined and pleasing at the same time.
>And this is not coming from an American
How to spot an murican 1 0 1
Nigger, you were a sperm in your dads balls when real electronic was being made and not that shit you have been fed your whole life and think its Filet mignon
>implying i dont listen to older electronica
>implying my argument from my very first post was purely about live shows and not personal listening
You would love Tomorrowland then lol
If you haven't heard about it, look it up on Youtube haha
Also, try to go to venues in abandoned warehouses, that shit gives you a great post industrial vibe that can be so commonly found in certain electronic music
trust me user i know about tomorrowland. the big one is in belgium and im from new york. tomorrowland 2017 usa hasnt been announced so idk where its gonna be, but if its in new england im going.
and for the warehouse thing you mentioned, i have not been to one but i know of ones happening down in NYC. when i can pay off my car, im going to attempt to attend some
Yeah well, about Tomorrowland. I've been to one of them when it wasn't that big yet (second or third edition yet) and that was almost too much for me already. Just to illustrate howmuch of a non-festival guy I actually am haha
I can only wish you the best of fun when going to one of these dude.
what year was it? who did you go see?
and thank you user
Dude you also have a deep knowledge of art? Glad I'm not the only smart one on this board ;)))))
Ah damn it was the 4th edition, the second time it was 2 days, however.
It was in 2008, I wanted to see Ellen Allien and Armin Van Buuren, other than that I just lounged around and went to check out everything here and there. Nothing really outstanding though. It's also there I realized festivals aren't for me.
Smaller venues give me more intimacy with friends and more focus on the music at the same time.
who fucking cares it's not hurting you
i like armin van buuren. and in 2008, there wasnt much exciting things going on in dance music, so id imagine the overall lineup was kinda boring.
i went to electric zoo 2016. saw porter robinson, getter, valentino khan, tiesto, borgore. i had a lot of fun at that, and that was my first festival so i want to go to more for sure. i went alone because i dont have any friends who also like edm which really fucking sucks
Festivals are fun, but I prefer smaller clubs too. Artists I like to see like deadmau5 are usually more fun when they are playing an unhooked set in a club. They add in more songs that aren't theirs into the set without worrying about syncing with visuals or whatever. Plus more techno.
i was thinking of seeing deadmau5 if hes on mysterylands 2017 lineup, since the location of mysteryland is the next county over from mine
He's worth seeing at least once in a festival setting. His visuals are always top notch if he can manage to get it there. His unhooked sets are always worth going to as well if you like tech house.
yeah i like his rubix cube stage setup. i hope he headlines so he plays at night, and they pump a lot of smoke machines and all that shit into it
Most fun I ever had dancing to music was dark electrohouse and pounding d'nb. So if you can find a good party/festival focussing on that shit, definitely check it out. Also, don't be shy to check out techno, hardtechno and hardcore. That shit can also be awesome in the right time/place.
You do kinda grow out of it after a while, though. Last year I wanted to party alot still, but this year, becoming 26, I'm starting to slow the fuck down. I'm more fond of smaller social gatherings now and live performances by bands. Time shall make me a patrician after all!
>Ultra
He is touring with his new cube setup in 2017. I was at the very first test unveiling he did at VELD 2016 in Toronto. It looks great, and they even made upgrades to it since I saw it.
i fucking adore hard-techno and hardcore. angerfist, roughsketch, kobaryo. love them all. never any festivals with them in it though, or at least not near me
in 2017, it will be 7 years ive been loving EDM and rave culture. maybe ill grow out of it someday, but it seems like the only thing i enjoy at this point
if hes in new york, i will go see him without a doubt. i still have my old deadmau5 snapback i bought in freshman year of high school.
From what I recall, he is playing 4 shows in a row in New York. I think they're all sold out already, but double check. I'm still waiting for Toronto dates to be announced...
>i still have my old deadmau5 snapback i bought in freshman year of high school.
you are littleerly the most pathetic faggot posting on here
ah shit youre right. i was looking at new york EDM shows last week, on a site that lists every single DJ who is playing any kind of show in new york for all of 2017. hes playing the playstation theatre in NYC 4 nights in a row
