What do you like about your job and what not
I'll start
>Interpreter from home

Cons:
>Enter at 5 fucking am.
>Staff response is shitty

Pros:
>Work from home, have a lot of time.
>Music all day while waiting for calls.
>Usually 11-15 minutes or more between calls.
>Easiest Job I've had
>Rest on weekends
>Pay is ok(for a third world country).
>Masturbate during shift

like what language? and for what reason/industry?

Spanish/English
Different companies I work for through the company that hired me to work from home.
911 calls, medical appointment, banks, insurance companies, legal, customer serv, etc.

Wait so all I have to do is learn another language and I can do this shit?

so how does it work exactly then?

Pretty much user, I recommend interaction with the language at least 15 at morning, 15 evening and 15 at morning. You can do it.
I'm learning German at the moment and it's easier than I thought.

Thanks mate

I contact them, send my curriculum. They call you by phone, interiew in the language you are applying for. Then you need to study alot of things they send you, online interviews, take training from a landline.
After 3 weeks hiring process and sending your documents they send you a debit card and you can start working.

Meant night instead of morning again

General Manager at >pic related

Cons:
>Fucking dumbass customers
>Expected to be a mechanic and fix everyone's problems
>Hours (55+ with no overtime, nights weekends holidays)

Pros:
>Generally easy
>Learn a lot you didn't already know
>Pay ($45k for a pretty simple gig)
>As many free car parts/chemicals as you want (shrink report is easy to mess with)
>Get to talk shit with other car guys/employees all day

Probably a retarded question, but what do you mean with 15 at morning, 15 evening and 15 at morning?

Nice.

You get to learn and you earn money.
Would do since I always wanted to learn car mechanics.

Meant morning, evening, night at least.
You can use weekend for watching a couple videos, read a little. Dont stress too much.

He corrected himself to 15 in morning, 15 in afternoon, 15 at night, meaning minutes to study to learn new language

Musician

Cons
Work nights and weekends

Pros
Smoke weed all day

Service engineer for really expensive electronics

Cons
>really entitled fucking customers (governments, military etc)

>Great co workers
>Get to travel a lot to the most bizarre fucking places where this shit is installed

okay, I got that part. but what/how do you do exactly as a process?

10/10
Would work.

What did you study for that user?

I have no education whatsoever. I kinda stumbled into the field on a banana peel years ago as a rent-a-moron and ended up where I am now. I suppose that would explain my not-so-great pay check. But whatever... I'm quite happy where I am.

>curriculum
Resume.

Cantadito. Usté solito se echó al agua...

Depends on the clients.
Usually they give you instructions on how to present yourself and the company you're translating for, along with the representative.
Sometimes they just connect the line and I introduce myself, after I just translate/interpret between each caller taking turns.
If it's an emergency they just skip the intro and ask me to get vital info right away.

> full time firefighter in small city (200,000 people)

>love comradery of the job, is a lot like being in the military, good bond with the guys, they become like brothers

>get to do awsome work, going into burning buildings, give cpr, see fucked up shit like suicides and bad car accidents

>other than cleaning and training, can sit around all day watching tv or doing whatever if there aren't any calls at that time

Negatives
>work rotating shift, two 10 hour days, day off, two 14 hour nights three days off

>is good to have that amount of time off but its alot during the week, when you can't go away and take advantage also work a lot of weekends and holidays

>schedule works like this:
Work Monday and Tuesday day, have Wednesday off, work Thursday and Friday night, have Satuday, Sunday, Monday off- next week, work Tuesday, Wednesday day, Thursday off, work Friday, Satuday night, Sunday, Mon, Tues, off...and so on.

>this means I never have same day or night off, wind up working a day or a night on weekend, can't make plans to go away on weekend with wife

you are using that expression wronly wrongly

interesting.
got any starter links/sites?

derivatives trader at a small hedge fund.

>it can be pretty intense in a good way
>there is some downtime which i can spend fucking around on the internet
>can work from home at times

Not really, I know where you are and who you work for. From what you wrote. So, the expression was used correctly.
I was in that company 12 years of my life, before they started sending people home.
Hint: night shift

It´s nice to see a colleague on Sup Forums.

Sounds like a fucking nightmare. Fuck the money.

But the week only has 168 hours. If you have 88 hours that are 12 hours a day... do you sleep?

Fuck that way of speaking spanish. Makes one sound like a retard.

neutral spanish is the best

Soz Didn't put the response. It's a cool job, I would study some theory too besides the experience so I can get a better pay.

5-6 hours each night. no social life, no girlfriend, no close family, no real interests outside work. im kind of autistic i guess.
im 30 years old now and ill likely be able to retire in 5-6 years and live a very comfortable(but not super luxurious) life without ever working again.

It´s slang. Don´t get angry over nothing.

Yeah. Still not worth it for me personally.

Inspector

Pros:
>pretty lax
>not really bound by hours
>overtime
>good pay
>get to move around
>boss is chill
>weekends off typically and if not only work till 12 on Saturday

Cons:

>Most cities I work with are fucking retarded in how they handle money and generally everything
>gotta be at work in the early (1-4) am sometimes
>Literally no women anywhere
>Dirty and smelly mexicans happen

Depends in the country user, try google and it will automatically display the most popular by region, city, state, or country.
>Google Work from home as interpreter or something like that. Most popular ones are LionBridge and LanguageLine Solutions.
Good luck.

I do, and the fact that I'm the only one with the skills to do the job gives me some leverage. But I was never really interested in money. I honestly can't be bothered to "negotiate" every fucking year.

On the flip side - I'm not nearly as invested in my job as so many others seem to be. I could go do something else at any point if the opportunity should arise.

Coffee must be your best friend

yeah its absolutely not for everyone. the people who do this stuff are either extremely money hungry people or autistic types like me that just love the game in some fucked up way.

I say it's ideal.

Maybe if I had sniffed out that career earlier (I'm almost 20 years older than you) it could have been interesting. But as a comfy old fart it just sounds awful.

>Doorman at a club

Pros
>pussy
>drink pretty much for free

Dated a girl who worked at a subway.....dat subway smell is no joke.

Yeah lol it's a weird smell. Like bread and food. I hate the smell on me, but when I smell other people after a shift it smells ok

>Sandwich artist
Kek

You could learn a new language or study something OR stay there a while and become manager and stuff.

Session musician?

Sell guns outta home
Pros: everything
Cons: don't like people in my house

>industrial support for a niche product

Pros
>job security
I'm one of 6 people in the country who knows how to do my job. It wouldn't be very difficult for someone new to learn, but it would take a while.
>pay
75k a year for fixing shit.
>hours
Salaried and have never worked more than 40 hours a week.
>freedom
I get to fix shit the way I want. No scripts to follow, no managers breathing down my neck to meet quotas.
>work stays at work
I don't give 2 fucks about the product, when I leave work I don't even think about work until the next day when I go in.
>Coworkers
People who I interact with daily are smart, not very many stupid people work for this side of the company. They almost exclusively hire 21 year old college chicks for sales roles so there is always a nice ass within staring distance. Apparently, hot voices makes it easier to sell shit to industrial workers.

Cons
>I sit in a cubicle
>I sit in a cubicle
>I have to deal with electricians all day who are fucking idiots 95% of the time.
Nigga, you've been an electrician for 25 years, how do you not know how a 3 phase AC motor works?
>I have to deal with people bitching and trying to get free shit constantly.
>I sit in a cubicle
>sit in a cubicle
>in a cubicle
>a cubicle
>cubicle

Fucking cubicle is driving me insane.

>Sell guns outta home
>guns
>don't like people in my house

Is it just me or is the solution staring you right in the face ?

Sys Admin at a small company

cons
>very stressful when something important breaks
>low pay compared to other IT jobs (69k/year)
>dealing with retarded and entitled users. The type that think all you do is sit around waiting for them to call you
>have to work weekends/after hours sometimes
>pretty thankless at times. People treat you like a slave.

Pros
>I have total reign over everything tech related. Nobody questions what I do. Not even my direct manager
>can claim I'm busy all the time. Leave early or work from home sometimes
>fairly easy (unless something important breaks)

do you always work at the same club? is it a cool place?

I'm the digital marketing manager for a small software company

Cons
> The commute sucks, ride the train into downtown with a bunch ofhobos
> The CFO is very strict and I basically have no budget to spend on advertising
> I am the only source of revenue generation, do if I fail everyone loses their jobs

No gf/wife required

Cons:
If you do no sport, you'll get fat in no time.

Lol this guy is translating 991 calls.

You have blood on your hands , OP

Bump

Out of curiosity, what are the electronics for and where have you gone to fix them?

What background do you have that qualified you for that job?

>fat fuck gets paid to sit around and watch TV
>never works more than 2 days without a day off, regularly gets 3 days off in a row
>somehow reaches deep down within himself and is still to be able to complain about his job online

You really are a hero.

BS in accounting. Started as an accounting clerk, assistant controller, controller (several times) and now CFO.

nice to see a fellow linguist here

I work for a large company in LA that works with the biggest movie studios and tv production companies in the US.

I translate subtitles for TV shows and movies, from English to German.

Pros:
>work from home
>as long as I get my shit done I can work whenever and however I want
>pays well enough for the amount of effort and I work I put into it
>enough free time
>doesn't get boring, plus I get to see movies or shows that aren't even aired on TV, in the best case I get to work on I stuff I like

Cons:
>communication with the office in LA can be a bit annoying due to the time difference to Germany
>it's not a full time job, I am a freelance, meaning the job flow isn't continuous, e.g. the last two months I had nothing to work on

In general, I'm pretty happy with the job, much better than 90% of all the people I know do, especially for someone like me (student at university)

Sounds great. I'm jelly

>991

Pros:
> Free food and coffee for staff
>Female supervisor is a qt3.14

Cons:
>Most of the staff do fuck all
>When staff do work they cut so many corners it may as well be a circle
>Out of house 17 hours a day, always fucking tired.

so, you're the reason that the shows on Pro7 (big bang theory, 2& ½ men, others) have such shitty translations?
>inb4 german who lived 15 years in the U.S. and gets annoyed the fuck out of himself, seeing the blatant translation errors of U.S. shows in german TV networks

I do my shit as best as I can, nigger. Also, I haven't worked on any of those crappy shows.

Also, you have to keep in mind that during translation a portion of the humor always gets lost, there are jokes or puns that cannot be translated. also, there are enough cases where a translated joke is not as funny as the original joke.
So don't blame the people doing it, blame the nature of languages.
While of course there are some idiots in this field (well, which field of work doesn't have idiots?).

Well, I don't know about those channels, might be that they hire some underpaid fucker, that doesn't speak english on a close-to-native language.
At least the company I work on makes sure everything is as good and accurate as possible...

Well, I don't want to be too specific what with me being the only one working on the fuckers. But generally I can say it's cameras. Really fucking expensive (in the millions of dollars per unit depending on specs and lenses) cameras.

Sounds like pretty nice job user, I hope I can get something like that.
I am planning to move to Germany once I finish studying.

starting tommorow I'll work segregating garbage.
