Warren Farrell, who started the men's rights movement, was a very active and influential feminist in the early 70s. Even sat on the board of NOW and gave a lot of speeches on women's rights all over the country. MRAs DO support equality, and the vast majority of MRAs are also egalitarians. But there are already women's studies courses, a violence against women act, a UN Women, a HeForShe campaign, a white house council on women and girls, etc. etc. Women's issues are already being talked about EVERYWHERE, all the time. So MRAs are focusing on men's issues because those are the ones nobody is talking about. But overall, MRAs want equality. E.g., we don't want to replace the Violence Against Women Act with a Violence Against Men Act, we just want one gender-neutral act.
As for being anti-feminist, feminists control gender discussions in the US and feminists are anti-equality, so obviously anybody who supports equality will be anti-feminist. When MRAs push for equal custody rights or for more awareness of male victims of rape/DV, it's always the feminists who are pushing back. You can't support those without opposing feminists, and believe me MRAs have been trying since long before I was born to work with feminsits but feminists just don't want that. Look through the examples in this thread, feminism is doing a lot to oppose equality to anybody who supports equality will have to be anti-feminist

Raising awareness of the problems IS a step toward solving it. You can't solve a problem when nobody knows about it. Look at how many people are aware of men's issues now compared to 10 years ago. That is entirely due to MRAs raising awareness of it. And changes are starting to happen. Parliament had an official discussion of men's issues last international men's day (over the objections of feminists), because MRAs have started to make men's issues mainstream.

We're not saying there aren't issues at all. We're saying that the issues aren't representative of the movement as a whole. The issues effect a very small minority of MRAs. No movement is perfect, and its ridiculous to let a handful of random misogynists spoil a movement that is largely good and pro-equality.
On the other hand that argument doesn't work for feminists, because it is not a handful of misandrists. It IS representative of the movement as a whole. MRAs who support equality are welcomed in the movement, while feminists who support equality are cast out of the movement.
