What's better than HD558's?

Yea I know, another headphones thread, I apologize for that. Im trying to get a good pair thats better than the HD558's I currently have.

What would you guys reccommend?
I prefer wired, assuming they are better quality.

bump

there are lots of headphones better than 558s; it depends on your budget

check out Sup Forums sticky

ATH‑M50x

598s

>ATH-M50x
an hero rn pls, tnx

saiv moar and get an HD800. You won't be looking for headphones ever again once you get them. Sure, they're expensive but going to the endgame directly will save you an insane amount of money.

Either of these, I second

is it not worth getting anything of a higher tier?

that's a waste of money, doing a foam mod on the 558's will give you almost identical performance to the 598's

which pair do you have?

My parents got me beats for Christmas because they know I'm into music. Super nice of them. But the sound quality is really bad and the bass boosting kinda hurts my ears at even moderate volume.

I absolutely love my HD598. Comfy as fuck and sound great.

anyway, what are your favorite cans, IMEs, speakers, Sup Forums?

Sup Forumsentooman here, it's shit

samson z25s are what peak performance looks like

Own HK Soundsticks II, pretty good.

>HK Soundsticks II
Meant III

more like Memesticks. but for the price, they're OK I guess.

ps: you should get a good pair of headphones instead.

Really, really strange to hear this. Bass boosting? The HD 558s are very light on bass all things considered, you rarely see them recommended for things like hip hop music, even if they still perform great with that.

Are you sure they're not fucked?

Sennheiser HD650
Fidelio X2
HiFiMan HE400i

He's talking about Beats.

lol it always amuses me how these get blindly recommended.

hopefully no one gets trigged from reddit link

598s are the best for under 200 by far, EQ the bass up a little and they're perfect. Don't trust the M50/M50X hype, they're uncomfortable, have no soundstage, and have ridiculous treble and bass, you'd be better off getting Beats. If your budget is 300, get the Fidelio X2 for sure, they're top-tier.

>Talks shit about at m50 boosted bass and treble
>Recommends Fidelio x2
Quit shilling, faglord

i've heard their highs are too bright for most people but also that it can be corrected with the right amp combo. what do you think?

>Amp combo
Lol. Just eq down at 7-8khz

>not properly powering your cans

Typical triggered AT fanboy. Hope you listen to ambient because anything else will be painful on those things.

Then if your source can't do that buy a fiio e10k. If you're feeling really special buy an o2 and have your waifu engraved on it

>wasting money on an amp that doesn't even change how already efficient headphones sound

I said fuck off shill. Everyone knows that the Fidelio has boosted bass and treble just like the m50. At least the the m50 never had problems with paint rubbing off and pads staining desktops

X2 is not hi-fi. okay? Make America great again. I love you

>thinking your on-board soundcard/phone can properly utilize a thousand-dollar pair of headphones

It's a pretty efficient headphone. Learn math.

Besides if it's so great why are there pages of buyers remorse about people modding them to be better. Shouldn't a $1200 headphone be perfect

>2017
>listening to music on headphones

Was gonna make a thread but I got the HD 579 for Christmas. It's the first "high end" headphone. What should I listen to first? Thinking J Dilla.

>efficient
stop using this word, we're not talking about efficiency kiddo.

i'm not alluding to its greatness, i asked a question about its notoriously bright high-range and if a proper amp would change that in any way.

POST YOUR RIGS

So you're an idiot? It's efficient because it takes .16 mW to drive it to 90db. You're an idiot because you're looking for and amp that will change the headphone's sound instead of just making it louder. Why don't you learn how to use an eq instead of eating the shit you hear from headfirst, kiddo?

Sup Forums has pasta for literally fucking anything why are you surprised when someone can't be bothered to write an actual response

>thinking your subpar shit standard on-board soundcard does a high-impedance headphone any justice
>needing to EQ to get your sound perfect

amateur

Just stop, onii-chan

>>(You) first.

Seeing the shit flinging in this thread makes me glad I got some Beats as a gift a few years ago and am content.

No need to get worked up because you don't know how to utilize the tools you have so you just buy more stuff

>can't afford luxury equipment
kek. kill yourself pathetic weeb.

Tyll of InnerFidelity rates them alongside Sennheiser HD650s as equals. They're still both the best headphones in their price range.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro

Ain't that the dude from autism webm?

Tyll is an asshole that doesn't even believe his own measurements when he likes something. Biased shit. He also shilled cables as "good sounding"

I can do this forever. I had a bad Christmas and she won't call me.

Why are you all such faggots over headphones?

because they need a reason to justify spending $300+ on something to listen to death grips

These

If you like the Sennheiser sound, try the HD600 or HD650.
If you're looking for something more analytical, try the Beyerdynamic DT 880 or AKG K701/702 (the 702 has a detachable cable)

You'd still be hard pressed to find a bad review of the X2s anywhere.

Yes there have been quality control issues (after Gibson took over ownership of the brand and moved production to a different factory) but these faults have now been ironed out. I own the original Woox manufactured X2s and I can guarantee they are fantastic.

see

Okay sound, shit if you want to be /comfy/

>almost identical
>almost
Yeah, almost as good (which I doubt). You may have saved some bux but I'm still getting the better sound.

They've got the same fucking drivers! Sorry bud, you got scammed by Jewheiser.

Even if I did I don't really care. They're really comfy, durable and they sound great. I've had them for a few years and I probably won't replace them any time soon.

wow apparently there's a copy of me ITT. I agree senpai

I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Sony MDR 7506's. I just got them for Christmas and I think that they stack up well next to my Audio Technica ATH M50 headphones in terms of mid-range and bass.

Those headphones are not more analytical. HD650 have better distortion numbers than the other two. Boosted treble != Analytical

>implying the drivers are the only thing that affect the sound

>blindly recommended
>ive owned them for 3 years

Are you retarded?

Try adjusting EQ, also do they sound that way in all your devices?

Waiting on these in the mail, anyone try them? Good buy?

Maybe 'blindly' is the wrong word, 'misguidedly' would a be better choice.

But every time it's like "pls recommend me some headphones"

then someone pipes in with
>ATH M50X

every fucking time, without even considering what the OP wants. In this case he already has HD558s, buying M50s would be pointless. They have a different sound signature but it's hardly an upgrade like he's asking for. In many ways it would be a downgrade.

I didn't realise the still made the Alessandros.

I've never owned any but I've had Grado SR80s and hated them. They sounded very shrill and thin with little soundstage despite the open backs.

>Not getting the superior m40x

Damn
Supposedly Alessandros are a little more balanced than the SR80s, hopefully that helps.

I had those and they fucked my ears up. They gave both my ears a scab in the same spot on both ears and they would never heal because I wore the headphones all the time. It wasn't until a little over a year later they broke (the wire fucked up) and I got new headphones that my ears finally healed.

Good thing I'm a massive masochist, how's the sound quality?

Pretty meh. You get what you pay for basically.

Huh. Wonder why these things get such great reviews.
Guess I got played bois :(

The thing is there are people that swear by the Grado sound but having owned them I just don't get the hype. I'd like to try some of their higher end models one day.
