>is there an event (summer/winter) he actually wouldn't be the favorite in?

there are a ton of sports where being 6'8" is detrimental (e.g. gymnastics), and a ton of sports that don't rely at all on strength or athleticism (e.g. curling)

he would suck at a lot but be great a lot too.

athletics don't require huge size either.

But none of that matters because basketball is probably the most lucrative sport in the world (other than maybe soccer)

If you include endorsements and global popularity/celebrity...
Soccer is way out in front.
Basketball is second.

Then there's a huge drop off.
Probably tennis? Idk

>is there an event (summer/winter) he actually wouldn't be the favorite in?
can he swim?

LeBron is a phenomenal athlete, but he wouldn't medal in anything else.

literally whom?

He would be terrible at long-distance anything.

LoL nice try Soccerfag... more like way in back.

0

nothing. american sports is 90% marketing and roids and 10% talent.

Is this a joke? African-Americans are notoriously horrible swimmers.

We're talking from the player's perspective, dipshit. A soccer player like Neymar or basketball player like Steph Curry is known globally, therefore his long term earning potential is far greater than some irrelevant handegg or boreball player.

Legit none. He's strong for basketball only, a pussy sport. And his speed is overrated though his acceleration is amazing. Maybe long jump or bi-athlon in thr winter games

way to miss the joke

Honest to god have never heard of Neymar.
99.9% of Americans have never heard of any soccer players beyond Beckham or Messi, that is literally it. Not even trolling.

/fit/ type closet cases know CRonaldo

Lebron James: $1 billion from Nike
Kevin Durant: $300 million from Nike
James Harden: $200 million from Nike
Derrick Rose: $180 million from Adidas
Lionel Messi: $150 million from Adidas

No sport comes close to basketball when it comes to endorsements because of the ridiculous world of basketball shoes. Nike's Lebron shoes made $300 million in sales in 2015, I doubt that Adidas has made that much selling Messi gear in his entire career.

Rape isnt an olympic sport still

>Steph Curry
terrible example. he's going to be irrelevant when the warriors implode and durant one ups him

he would win 0

He'd be competing against people who trained their whole life (for the most part) at that particular sport. Doesn't matter how athletic you are, you'd probably still lose. I doubt he'd even medal at a state level for track and field anything

baseball players get paid a ton for some reason

*Harden is with Adidas, not Nike

Injuries are less common and careers are longer, so players can sign insane long-term deals. But when it comes to the very best players (like top 5 or top 10), basketball players earn the most because of those ridiculous Nike/Adidas/UA endorsement deals.

They get huge contracts, but tiny endorsement deals.
Derek Jeter made $9mil/yr at his peak from endorsements, while tennis player Roger Federer made $58mil/yr.

Don't forget Curry, whose deal included about $200 million+a stake in Under Armour.

>Derrick Rose $180 million

Jesus lol

Because the MLBPA isn't a joke and MLB makes a metric fuck ton of cash every year. It's insane.

It was actually a good deal from a financial perspective. Rose's shoes are still the 3rd-highest selling of any NBA player, and Adidas has made an average $50 million a year from it since signing the deal in 2011 so they've already made all that money back.

Steroids wont make you a great athlete, they'll just make you strong. You still gotta have it.

They'll make an already world class player the GOAT, but they wont make a bad player good. If you're at 90% they'll give you that extra 10

And that's not possible with soccer? Nike just gave Neymar his own shoe.

On top of that, Ronaldo is the world's highest paid athlete and it's not even close.

Michael Jordan made $100 million in 2015 alone. I can't even remember the last time I saw him in a commercial.

Ya yet he's still worth like 4x as much as federer is..

>And that's not possible with soccer?
When your audience can't even afford shoes, no not really.

What the fuck is he riding? He's worth over a bn and riding a Wal Mart tier bike

Neymar's Nike deal is for $100 million. Harden's adidas deal is $200 million, and Harden isn't even one of the 5 best players in the league. And no, that's not possible with soccer because the "sneaker culture" can't exist for soccer. That's why adidas pays Derrick Rose more than Lionel Messi, and why Nike pays Kevin Durant more than Cristiano Robaldo.

>And no, that's not possible with soccer because the "sneaker culture" can't exist for soccer

The hell are you talking about?

Jordan is really the ultimate example of this insanity. The "Jordan Brand" makes about $3 billion per year in sales, it controls 64% of the basketball market by itself. IMO, Jordan is being ripped off if he's "only" making $100 million a year from that.

dayum did jetes know they were they were paying him 6x as much for those shitty shaving commercials

It's not what the players are wearing on the field. A big part of what makes basketball sneakers a big thing is that players wear them on the court, people see them, and then go out and buy them. Messi can't play in Sambas.

Eh... you can just take the spikes out. It's pretty simple really. Nike is just now beginning the realize the incredibly expansive potential of the soccer market.

It will eventually dwarf the NBA simply due to sheer numbers.

lebrons deal with nike is only 500 mil and jordan is the billionaire, and still makes more than lebron does and will always make more than he does

Jordan Brand is set because of his logo being so boss. Could see it getting bigger than the swoosh one day

>implying poverty kick fans can afford $100 dollar shoes
kek

Nike has been heavily investing in soccer since the early 1990s. Soccer's individual endorsement deals can't and won't come close to basketball's for a long time because global sneaker culture is based on the United States (which makes up more than half the market), the US sneaker market is based on basketball, and nobody in America cares about soccer. And given that China seems to be following the same trend (just look at all the Chinese companies signing NBA players to ridiculous endorsement deals), I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Holy fuck, Does putting Lebron on shoes really help sell a billion dollars worth?

Yes, it does. In 2014 alone, "Lebrons" (Nike shoes with Lebron's name on them) made $340 million in sales for Nike. So a $1 billion lifetime deal makes a lot of sense, although nobody is sure if it's really that high (it's been reported as "significantly higher than $500 million").

>nobody in America cares about soccer

Oh how quickly this will inevitably shift in the next 20 years.

pretty sure that's what they said 20 years ago

20 years ago there was no broadband internet in every home, YouTube, social media, etc

Americans are just now seeing how big soccer is and so is American money.

It's already happening.

20 years ago people were also a lot more interested in sports in general

>quickly
>next 20yrs

Wat.
But no, we really, really don't care about soccer.
Most folks spend their lives following 1 sport really well, maybe 2.
Nothing is going to dethrone the NFL, NBA, and MLB.
Even the NHL, which I barely know anyone that watches hockey, is about 1000x more popular.

...

Hes making more than that. That 100 mil is just from corporate sponsoring and the likes from Nike. He also gets money from the NBA...television deals, his Hornets, Jordan brand if thats not included in Nike. IIRC he makes like 200 to 250 mil a year. Dudes a billionaire

He could probably medal in the decathalon if he spent a couple of years learning the disciplines.

The problem is that LBJ never played any other sports.

He's not like a lot of other NBA or NFL players who had extensive track and field background.

where is the other side of the fork on that bike? is this a real bike or photoshopped.

>soccer will become big in 20 years

They said this in 1994, but the US soccer league still hasn't even surpassed college basketball, let alone any of the major professional sports leagues.

He played football up until 9th grade, when it became obvious that he was going to play in the NBA.

It's a real bike. This is from when he played in Miami, sometimes he would ride his bike to games.

Tell that to Bolt

See

>ywn see Lebron in MMA
>ywn see Lebron land a flying knee
if Micheal Page cracked that dudes head, could you imagine if a big guy with hops landed one.Shit would be ridiculous

The best that soccer can do here is beat out furpuck and even that's questionable.

Add all of the soccer amounts together you retard.

Adidas Stan Smith are blowing up all over the place and they're tennis shoes so suck a fat cock.

That rising hispanic population will soon change the face of popular sport in the states. Say goodbye to the NFL and NBA because they don't give a single fuck about anything but soccer and baseball.

>NBA

Basketball's long term growth potential is much higher than Baseball's

And there are more Asians invading these days than Hispanics. They're obsessed with hoops

They're getting popular, but basketball shoes still dominate the market. And I'm not sure how a tennis-based shoe proves anything about soccer. You might as well have mentioned the Adidas Ultra Boosts (running shoes).

>because they don't give a single fuck about anything but soccer and baseball.

Tell that to all the latinos at football and basketball games. At least half of Raiders fans seem to be Mexican, and in Miami all of us Cubans like the Heat more than we like the Marlins.

You're underestimating how fast the children of immigrants assimilate into American culture. We don't bother with the sports our parents like just like we don't bother with the languages that our parents speak.

Football boots are completely different than basketball sneakers. You can't go around the hood wearing your studs mate

But indoor flat soccer shoes are popular and comfy

Yeah but cost like 60% less. Please don't tell me you wear them with regular clothes though

>tfw seeing some middle-aged Paki wearing jeans and astroturf mercurials

>implying nike marketing can't find a way to make this happen

he has a 9 foot stride and probably has decent endurance to begin with. if he trained and cut some weight it's possible he would get good

spose you think usain bolt could do well at long distance too

yes if he really wanted to. he has proven that he has the mental ability to train an activity to a world class level. i don't see why he couldn't just apply that mentality to another activity. he could probably excel at most athletic sports if he were inspired to do so

> mfw when an american wore a helmet while riding near me
