In testing the rafts were leaving the ride at the crest of the hill (think of a ski jump) so they put netting over the ride to stop your raft 'jumping' too high. Looks to me like this kids raft jumped at that point and hit the netting head first at almost 70mph. The kid was in the front seat so took the brunt of it and ripped his head off, the women behind him had facial injuries too suggesting that it did hit the netting at a forward and up angle
