Is there a state that has worse metal than Minnesota? The only band I'm not embarrassed to talk about is Powermad
That's post-metal rock
ya ok
And your thoughts?
Standard Pd'H
Mississippi has roughly 0 metal
Sounds like a never ending intro that could use some keys to give it some structure
northern minnesota has sweet forests and is cold as fuck why is there no kvlt minnesotan bm?
Some of the best metal comes from Minnesota tho
every black metal band that forms in MN quit after a few years anyways
What does metal think of Dream Theater?
>tfw went and culled a bunch of trash from my library like james labrie solid albums and as I lay dying
Feels goodman. Why'd I even have that bullshit there in the first place?
why is this posted every thread?
they're shit except for the first two albums and even those are just decent
yes
yes
no

very no

Is Vektor really an hero? Why did they do it?
Obsequiae and Panopticon
They're too intelligent for most /metal/ browsing cretins to understand. If your intellect is like that of mine, however, they're a very stimulating listen.
I've been doing that recently too user
I found 2 Serj Tankian albums and they were complete shit
thats not Under the Sign of Hell
Vektor's still going strong, just everyone except David is out of the band.
He'll find new members for sure.
damn thats too bad
hopefully shit gets back up and running soon, i need more of david's howls in my life
Someone else dump what they're currently listening to.
speaking of lineup changes
CoF got 2 new guitarists for their last album and it's actually tolerable, the guitarists go over the top and don't suck at songwriting
My pick for best Thrash/Death album of all time
It's been my go to for the last 6 months
adding caladan brood echoes of battle to my library
how do y'all like caladan brood
They are great Summoning-core, you'll also like Midnight Odyssey and Sojourner
Compressing sound is totally shit
Why do bands keep doing it?
more like Gallowbraid?
Been a long time since I listened to these guys. Gonna give this a go later.
I couldn't begin to tell you my favorite "Thrash/Death" album of all time, but I listened to this more than anything last year. Here's my favorite song by them if you haven't heard it.
You have to compress mixes some.
Easily my aoty, Just so fucking good
Good choice user
Really digging the sludge of the rhythm guitars.
I can't stand it
It makes me feel like I have a sinus infection
Examples?
This, let me hear what you're talking about.
This. Especially towards the end of the track "Beyond the Door"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this was recorded by a single guy on a not so professional setup, that's why it sounds kind of older in terms of release date. If you're solely referring to the guitar tone, that's just a tone some people enjoy. Personally, I like it myself. This is the first time I'm hearing this guy btw.
Gotta admit, not the biggest fan of those guys. The drumming is outstanding though. And that Fight Fire with Fire cover, Holy shit that was badass
DAMN is this one shit video.
What happened to Mayhem?
youtu.be
Their albums are hit and miss with me, their newest album bored me to death. All of their covers I've heard are awesome. Overkill off the new one being my favorite
These sound fine though
>seizure warning
>Mayhem
>666 + 666 + 666 + 6 + 6 + 6
Definitely unkvlt
I hear what you're talking about, but each of these albums have different problems sonicly. The first one for example sounds as though the tracks aren't EQ'd properly, so they can't punch through the mix and be heard. The last one is compressed into a fucking pop can and sounds like the instruments were recorded with and iphone 2 rooms away... Idk if that was an artistic choice or what, but it's shit nonetheless. Still like the riffs though.
>having shitty headphones
I never hear people talk about this album. It's one of my all-time favorites
Great album senpai
:^)
rec me crusty sludge, pls
>unironically appraising YouTube clips
wew lad
is volbeat /metal/?
Worse thing to come out of Denmark since Lars
is there something like MA for other genres like shoegaze etc?
i only know progarchives desu
Is Devin Townsend the Brian Eno of metal?
soundcloud.com
/metal/ related
I like this
youtube.com
Sounds like the beginning Angel Witch's Baphoment
can someone tell me why people enjoy metal with little to no pop sensibilities? i can understand like iron maiden and shit that has, you know, chord progressions that make sense/sound good, but stuff like death metal just seems only enjoyable on a suuuuper basic level (ie fast playing weird rhythms cool sounding drums
That's why melodeath exists for casuals
christ i cant stand melodeath
idk dude i wouldnt say unmusical metal like that is better...
cos it bumps in the pit
I desperately need more albums like this buds.
you basically ask why people like anything that doesn't fit into a narrow mold of pop music
my answer on the most reductive level is that music has a lot to offer by way of experience outside of whatever (rather vanilla) systems pop has to offer
Great album. I hope they keep exploring that doomy sound of the first two tracks and the first bonus track, 'Pillars Erode'.
Josh is a brilliant songwriter; I'm jelly desu
Yautja
Trap Them
it's three in the morning and I should go to sleep but I just want to keep listening to Sepultura, fuck
Ur making me listen to Supulturuaaara
Best album to date.
>purplesnake
i need to see some hammers
Why is black metal so addicting?
Because you're an impressionable useful idiot with shit taste baka desu lad
Having it posted here so many times, I never did really ask about what's your favorite track, guys. Mine is easily Accumulation Of Generalization
I'm not even memeing, black metal is just so mesmerising to me, much so than any genre that I've listened to through all these years.
anything in particular stand out to you personally?
In black metal? Ulver's Nattens Madrigal and Summoning's Minas Morgul and Darktrone's Under A Funeral Moon are some of my favorites, though I also like many more.
Check out Funeral Mist, Arckanum and Lunar Aurora my dude
Mine is Nor The Silent Whispers, just had goosebumps listening to it for the first time in years
I love Arckanum, though I'll check the other two out, thanks lad.
Since we're on the topic of black metal, I'm looking for stuff similar to Saor and Nokturnal Mortum - Гoлoc cтaлi.
For Soar, try Winterfylleth
For bands similar to NM, try Graveland and Drudkh (Negură Bunget is similar too, but at the same time, really deviates because of ambient and folk influences)
What's your MAOTY?
I'M LOSING YOOOOOOOU
best slayer
youtube.com
>not DDAMM
sorry, i'm not into punk
best release of 2016 coming through
I really love this record.
godlike band
only for mature people, thats why the edgy young fags hate them because they actually sing about something
is xasthur blackgaze
Images and Words is unironically a 9/10
10/10 if you delete "Another Day"
>only for mature people
>10 minute Metallica songs with keyboards
t. imbecile that cannot comprehend real prog music
