What is your opinion on neofolk? What are your favorite records? How do you feel about the link between neofolk and fascist ideologies?

I like Death in June.

I like a lot of neofolk bands. I think it's one of the best genre out there. Some tracks are just so beautiful.

My favorite neofolk bands are DiJ and The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus.

Either I disagree with them and don't care, or I agree and don't care either. Most of the time they don't actually care about politics tho.

It's pretty good when it's done right, although there are a shitton of cliche bands. My favourite album would be Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude by Nature and Organisation. It's by Michael Cashmore who was in Current 93, it also features David Tibet, Douglas P of Death in June and Rose McDowall who has appeared on a bunch of neofolk albums. Concerning the "fascist ideologies", I don't really have a problem with them since I don't listen to bands that are directly linked with these kind of ideologies. Most of the neofolk bands have lyrical themes of old European culture and history, often the history of WW2, so many accuse them of being fascist. I think that most people think that neofolk is fascist becouse they heard that DIJ is fascist, although that's not true considering that Douglas is gay, has played in front of black audiences and has played in Israel. It's just part of their aesthetic.

I totally agree with you tho. I actually dig these "old European" themes, I think there's a lot of beautiful imagery in it.

Well, the album is IMO of the best neofolk album I've heard, it's loaded with emotions and beautiful instrumentation and lyrics, but my god, some of the tracks are depressive as shit. You're missing out a fantastic album if you're a neofolk fan, but idk, you decide when it's best to listen to it. I've missed out on a ton of great music because of the same reason, one day you will get over it. Wish you the best, user.

None of those 4 statements contradict themselves. It is completely possible to be a fascist and do those things.

neofolk is probably my favorite genre, and the photo you posted is probably my favorite of the genre, and my favorite album ever honestly.

there are many great albums in the genre, from the "Alpine Folk" stuff to the Martial Industrial stuff and the EBM stuff (related genres that cross each other a lot)

The link towards fascism/nazism doesn't bother me at all, even tho I'm more left leaning. The symbolism and the esoteric just adds to it (and it looks good). Since I'm mostly listening to Black Metal I'm actually tired of this meaningless shit 'boo hoo the musicians don't go along my favourite ideology boo hoo'.
Also, the kind of rightwingers you meet at Neofolk concerts are overall much more 'polite and classy' with actual knowledge about politics. The brute imbeciles at (NS)BM concerts who just throw their arms for a Heil Hitler are literal retards with a book allergy.
