why is this considered industrial-something if it just sounds like regular synthpop in the same vein of Depeche Mode?

Only The Downward Spiral is industrial
i would call it synth-rock, like most of nin's stuff.
I guess you are right, maybe the early remix tapes also
All the tracks on the album are alright, but the best ones are;
Terrible Lie
Sin
That's what I get
So what is Broken, The Fragile, With Teeth/Year Zero, The Slip, Hesitation Marks, Not the Actual Events?
It's sounds like a kmfdm record more
Shit opinion nigger
KMFDM sounds more industrial than NIN in general
their albums, especially the early ones weren't nearly as melodic as PHM
what's the difference between an album like PHM and Dark Celebration by DM? the latter isn't called industrial - synths give the feel of machinery, but that's not enough to call the music industrial - see Einstürzende Neubauten
It's not considered industrial-something. NIN in general is considered industrial-something because their most popular album (The Downward Spiral) was industrially. All of NIN's albums had moderately different sounds until Year Zero when everything started having the same synthy rock vibe.
I like ringfinger and head like a hole desu
Didn't Trent said he pretty much was emulating Skinny Puppy's Remission?
Also I want to add that the drum line in the opening of Head Like A Hole makes me think of the drum opening on "Move Along" by the All-American Rejects and I hate the All-American Rejects
lol, i bet you're the user who called Trent a "pioneer of industrial music" the other day
IF SHE SAYS CUM INSIDE
I'LL CUM INSIDE FOR HER
IF SHE SAYS GIVE IT ALL
I'LL GIVE EVERYTHING TO HER

>"Dig It" is a single by the band Skinny Puppy, taken from their 1986 album Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse. Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor once mentioned that the song influenced the first song he wrote, "Down in It".
>So what is Broken, The Fragile, With Teeth/Year Zero, The Slip, Hesitation Marks, Not the Actual Events?
Shit.
lmao
GOD MONEY ILL DO ANYTHING FOR YOU
Sanctifieda patrician song.
Broken is good, faggot
broken sounds like generic numetal to me, idk
'wish' is the best example
>The Fragile is not the best thing trent ever done
>I was much more affected by Freddie Mercury’s death than by Lennon’s
guess who said that
That's What I Get is the fucking worst thing Trent ever wrote, he probably cringes himself to the grave every time he is reminded of it, even when he has one second of it he feels like doing cocaine again, it is probably why "Not The Actual Events" suddenly came to be, with its raw and mean lyrics, one of people like you reminded him of that awful song and it gave him an inspiration for creepy personal EP.
Goddamn does That's What I Get fucking suck.
Anyway, Pretty Hate Machine is the weakest album from NIN's entire discography, has some really nice tracks but lacks a lot of the complex themes, concepts and song writting in general which can be found in The Downward Spiral or The Fragile.
You "idk" indeed faggot. Especially if you think that The Fragile is shit, that makes you the biggest faggot who ever lived upon this world.
Pretty Hate Machine is better than The Slip or Hesitation marks. Although you are completely correct that That's What I get sucks donkey balls.
I disagree with you upon this actually. I am really found of The Slip, I think that it has amazing tracks. Far better than Pretty Hate Machine.

I am a big fan of the opening track for The Slip, Head Down and Demon Seed. I think the instrumental tracks are okay too, Corona drags but it has a nice eerie feeling when you've got a feeling and time for it.
I really like Hesitation Marks. I think there isn't one single bad track and it's a nice change for the band. "I Would For You, Various Methods Of Escape, While I'm Still Here/Black Noise, In Two" are top tiers.
But hey, I know every one views this differently, there are people who absolutely hate Hesitation Marks, I think it's a great album that isn't as positive as it might seem. It's dark as fuck as well it is just kinda "hiding" that darkness, the best way to describe HM would be to imagine a depressed person who is telling you that he's okay, you are little bit suspicious, so you begin to ask questions, you find out that he's been cutting himself and dealing with some form of that said depression. Lame way to explain it I guess, but that is how I'd imagine the protagonist of HM is.
That's What I Get is cringey, sure, but it's also a very specific cringe and knows it is within the context of the album, being that the whole thing is basically I Love You Honeybear for the late 80s where he neither gets nor "gets" the girl and is ultimately hypnotized and paralyzed by this external social conditioning that went into it in the first place to convince him he needs a partner and how frighteningly close the first breath of self-sufficiency (e.g. living on your own, having a steady girl, having a job) and "settling down" actually are and the overstep to that latter category, maybe with somebody who isn't right but happened to be there at the right time, isn't just easy but subconsciously programmed into you.
Not since Year Zero actually fucking happened, no.
Year Zero is just DUDE GARAGE BAND FOR MACS LMAO plus DUDE BUSH ADMINISTRATION LMAO
That's what I get' has a superb synths you fucking autists, only Terrible Lie and Sin can match it
nobody cares about lyrics, you won't find any knowledge in fucking songs, go grab a book if you want it to be complex
The problem with the fragile is that it has a good overall atmosphere but no good songs at all besides some instrumental moments.
The lyrics are shit sure but I mess with the instrumental for That's What I Get shit is really good imo
>but no good songs at all besides some instrumental moments.
>Somewhat Damaged
>The Day The World Went Away
>The Wretched
>La Mer
>The Great Below
>Just Like You Imagined
>The Way Out Is Through
>Into The Void
>The Mark Has Been Made
>The Big Come Down
>Underneath It All
>Ripe (With Decay)
The Fragile is full of great songs
Aren't there too many 'mellow' songs on the LP? I think it would've been much better if there were more songs like the first two and less like 'Something' and 'The Only Time'
You probably say it's nu metal just cause a handful of nu metal bands covered songs from and were influenced by this album. If anything I think it's the most industrial sounding music Trent made beside The Downward Spiral
