Is it worth 570 MB of my internet package data? Never heard any of their stuff. Will be my first one if I download it

nope.
yes, it's aoty.
There are better Autechre albums to start with.
Just buy/download one of them and see if you like it.
no, if you've never heard any of their stuff you're probably lack the context required to enjoy it
They're really that similar? Spotify has the first one which I thought was just ok. Kinda felt like Merzbow with a lazy dance beat.
>There are better Autechre albums
and i started like *le shig faec*but then
>albums to start with.
and i was like *le mu fece*
wow that's a pretty lazy and reductive assessment
feed1 is the only track that is remotely noisy
exai is a better introduction, it's basically the same except a bit more colorful and succinct. autechre had a lot of different styles though, you should sample them all. key autechre albums:
amber ("Nil")
confield (the most extreme of this scattershot style, "Pen Expers")
draft 7.30 (i like this better than confield but it's not quite as groundbreaking. "IV VV IV VV VIII")
quaristice (simultaneously their most intellectual and their most ADHD, really underrated. "Tankakern")
exai (very similar to elseq but more colorful and succinct. "bladelores")
tri repetae is canonized but i like these albums better
if you've never listened to autechre then no
listen to amber and tri rep first
what
If you don't already like abstract/experimental electronics you should start with something else.
>jumping into autechre with elseq
>not listening to ae in chronological order
OP is an absolute friggin mad man! lock him up!
Mentioning Amber and elseq together is completely useless. Yes, they were both created by the same men. But to say nothing of the evolving intelligence, methods and influences that have emerged within their process, the *technology* involved is galaxies removed from their early days.
The conversation is like comparing a symphony orchestra to Stomp.
in all honesty yeah autechre is one you should hear their entire discog, just like miles davis or coltrane or bob dylan or whoever, it's just useful life info
i made sure to mention their different styles man! i think the fact that they are so different is important, there really was a massive evolution and learning it is interesting
>You will never befriend a lad in the late 1980s who's into the same hobbies and tunes as you are and then develop your shared artistic craft together over the following 25ish years
30 years next year
jdimsa
why even live?
I started with Oversteps and fell in love that way. Whatever you do, don't force yourself into it. Like what you like and sometimes stuff just falls into place.
I can't disagree with this post.
just listen to their earlier more popular stuff like Amber and Tri Repetae first then move onto their later stuff after, I fell like it's easier to "get" their newer stuff that way
>starting with elseq
you're going to get wrecked, OP. start with incunabula and go chronologically. elseq is literally the worst possible album to start with
>needing context to listen too electronic music
Chronologically is truly the only way. Really helps one know where they're coming from.
And don't skimp on the EPs.
