Is that black Matt Pike?

That's Gibson's not making him happy, he needs more gear immediately!

First for buy a fucking EQ pedal already. It's almost like hacking your tone.

basically

Oh shit it really is

Get a load of this fucking Black Keys rip off artist!

Is nip moot just trolling or what?

So what?
It's small so you waste less space, and it's dirt cheap so who cares if it's broken after some years.

I did a thing: clyp.it/jkyqc10p
(not a guitarist, but I kinda liked that melody)

(You)s are winning anyway so don't wory

Finalized my pedalboard with proper cable management. Very happy with it right now.

I should at least try a compressor pedal, right?

Good lad.

I love the rubbery sound you get from single coils and a compressor set to max.

>I should at least try a compressor pedal, right?
Thick compression is great for funky riffs like this:

youtu.be/mMPfYYE5CBE

They can be useful for various reasons.
As a compressor of course (sustain, evening things out a little I guess)
It's good as a boost as well.

Whatever, I like it on my clean channel to add a little more comp and as a very slight boost.

Got a Memory Boy Delay pedal for Christmas, and I just spend 12 hours locked in my basement with my friend , writing and recording music while high on stimulants. How've the holidays been for you, anons?

>it's dirt cheap so who cares if it's broken after some years
consumer electronics designed to be disposable are a waste of money, especially with something as relatively simple as a guitar pedal. for slightly more money you could buy a full sized pedal, have the ability to repair it, and have it indefinitely. all electronic components will fail eventually, once your mini pedal breaks it's gone forever. I'd rather have a bigger board with 5 pedals I can keep, repair, and rely upon than a board half the size with 5 pedals I'll have to replace every 10-15 years. guitar pedal manufactures have finally figured out reselling the same pedal to over and over is better than selling you one once. mini pedals are a bad value and the space issue is really an industry manufactured non issue with most guitarists

It's just turned midnight.

Happy New Year, /gg/!

>living in the future
please tell us about the newest guitar memes, happy new year ladpai.

it's not even midnight in straya, are you a dirty islander?

Yes it is - do you eve AEDT?

Disposable? Waste of money?
A pedal is $20 which is nothing compared to meme pedals.

Furthermore, I don't believe this disposable thingy. In the end, the components are pretty easy to change even with a small pedal.

Come on, we are not talking about Apple selling overpriced shit, with everything soldered and difficult to replace.
(Though, when you try hard, you can always repair stuff by yourself)

It's 12:07am in nsw right now

*even

am I retarded?

probably just drunk!

do you get ebony pussy if you can play funk guitar

no, start rapping

nah, try R&B. That smooth romantic shit.

>the components are pretty easy to change even with a small pedal.
You have never dealt with SMT components, you are clearly talking out of your arse.

>pedal is $20
exactly, I just explained the reasons for them being that price
>the components are pretty easy to change even with a small pedal
no, they're absolutely not. they're nearly impossible to repair without expensive specialized professional equipment. you don't know what you're talking about
>Though, when you try hard, you can always repair stuff by yourself
no, with miniaturized components you usually can't. again, you don't know what you're talking about

Just so you know what we're talking about, pic related.

Yeah okay, no one would change such a small piece.
But changing a chip is not that hard.

There a few things that can be done, and it's not such a crappy assemblage.

youtube.com/watch?v=eO0JxJ7AphY

he's already made it clear he has zero electronics experience, mate. mini pedals are a waste of money except in special circumstances like considering the shipping costs involved in overseas touring which don't concern 99% of players

You are a waste of space, so what's your point?

It's like you guys only know how to exaggerate everything
Hurr Durr it's a waste to buy a $20 it'll literally explode after a few days, better buy a $200 pedal or buy electronics from Soviet Union and solder everything

>changing a chip
....
"Chips" come in different packages, and in a small formfactor pedal you'd also get them miniaturized as a SMD.

Any last minute pointers before I put down $500 on one of these? Mahogany neck, rosewood board and P90s.

Always wanted a semi-hollow and this looks gorgeous.

>those shitty PCB mounted pots
lmao

You don't know shit, shut the fuck up.

>Always wanted a semi-hollow

The casino is fully hollow. ( will feedback more if you use lots of distortion or volume) Still, I think they're great, my favorite inexpensive hollowbodies.

Daniel Kessler Approved

Yeah alright, better put some $50 NOS shit from the Soviet Union for that vintange tone amirite?

You are definitely one of those faggy "expert" too busy shoving a finger up your ass rather than enjoying playing guitar for what it's worth.

>Hurr Durr it's a waste to buy a $20
>it'll literally explode after a few days
>better buy a $200 pedal or buy electronics from Soviet Union and solder everything
too are things I never said. I've made my point pretty well though, I think I'll leave it to anyone reading though your replies to decide for themselves if you know what you're talking about and if mini pedals are a good value or not. have a nice day friend

I'm haven't played particularly long so embarrassingly the distinction of semi and hollow is more based on appearance to me. Read that they make for extremely versatile guitars which kinda sold me.

Regardless, thanks.

>while high on stimulants
did you drink a Red Bull?

>these asspained replies
kek this btfo poorfag got mad as fuck

Learn to play Blues, Jazz Blues, and Gospel.

youtu.be/UblTliFKiDM

so play like jimi but clean and slower

got it

Yeah, but there's more to it than that. Start by learning to put Diminished 7th passing chords in your chord changes.

So if you're going from Cmaj7 to Dm7, throw a Dbdim7 in between, for example.

x 3 5 4 5 x

x 4 5 3 5 x

x 5 7 5 6 x

You're so fucking stupid that you don't even understand that the video you posted () just reinforces the other Anons point about the small components being impossible to repair. That line of silver dots on the left side of the circuit is a set of resistors, you'd just burn up the replacement resistor and destroy the traces trying to replace one with a standard soldering iron.

Shut the fuck up, dumbass.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I got a new bass and it has a 'pickup blending pot'. Can someone explain what blending pickups does?

You're probably used to seperate volume controls for each pickup. A blend poti reduces the volume of one pickup while increasing the volume of the other. Middle position is both pickups 100%, all the way clockwise is the neck pickup solo, all the way counterclockwise is the bridge pickup solo. Everything in between is, well, in between these states.

Is there a good book or a pdf or a spreadsheet or anything with chord shapes?
Something like this guy posted
Whenever I try and record some progressions with some maj7 or m7 chords, I mostly rely on the shapes shown in his post (i.e. where the root is on the A string). But I'd like to know them in other positions as well, together with all the other sexy chords, like dims and alts and doms

also the 2nd link in the OP

Man, I love Interpol

appreciate

I'm spending new years jamming to drumtracks, getting drunk and cuddling with my dog. Life is good lads.

i'm not crazy about p90s but that's just personal taste, Casino is nice man

Whats the best way to jam just to drums?
Say there's a drummer in a room just playing and you wanna join in, but no bassist around. You're not gonna play you pentatonic licks over just a drumbeat because it's gonna sound poor. What funky shit do you play?

Play anything that is rhythmically interesting and works with the drums.

actually this book is not that great

This, and turn distortion up a notch with a few barred low end strokes to compensate. You won't be anywhere near as limited as you think you will.

yeah I know, but like what. got any videos for ideas?

Guys, I've had my acoustic guitar for around six years, but haven't played it for the majority due to school stuff and depression. Now that I want to go back to it, I don't know what to do. I know lots of chords and I'm into folk and bossa nova fingerpicking styles but I don't know whether or not I need to work on mastering techniques getting a repertoire of songs under my belt.

White Stripes immediately come to mind, watch a bit of Jack's playing and see how he does it.

why is it that the best Les Paul or 335 is made by Gibson
but everyone makes a better Strat / Telecaster than Fender

fender sucks more than gibson

So what does /gg/ think of Troy Grady's cracking the code? Has anyone watched his seminars on Yngwie or Eric Johnson? I'm interested in watching them, but I don't really want to spend 50 bucks on each if the videos aren't actually useful.

>someone is actually considering this

lad what on earth are you doing?

who /popa/ here?

He plays simple blues but he makes it sound so good.

youtube.com/watch?v=Tv3P5ZrHBgs

I think they're cool but I don't really know how to apply the information to my practice. Fast alternate picking with a downward pickslant feels awkward to me. I guess I've always been an upward pickslanter, since I prefer to rest the heel of my thumb against the body of the guitar or on the lower strings. I lack speed and control when picking with my hand turned like pic related. Maybe I just need more practice with that technique.

I just stumbled across them, seems like it's probably a scam or a waste of money so I wanted to hear other people's opinions on it. If other people consider it useful or worth it then I don't mind spending money, it's about the same price as a couple of guitar lessons and potentially has a lot more useful information.

I don't know how much you should worry about being an upwards or downwards pickslanter. John Mclaughlin and Marty Friedman both play primarily with upstrokes and they're both super fast players. Maybe not as fast as Yngwie or Batio, but still plenty fast.

>guitarcenter.com/Used/Dixon/Double-Cutaway-Solid-Body-Electric-Guitar.gc

should i buy this as a new years guitar?

>He plays simple blues but he makes it sound so good

convinced this is a skill you can only be born with

>has to ask
you don't deserve it m8

youtube.com/watch?v=H5EGsfunqlk

Jimi was in a very sad mood here, absolutely gorgeous playing. Also one of the very rare occasions that he played something other than a strat.

Reminder that guitars with rosewood are kill starting Monday.

why

reverb.com/news/new-cites-regulations-for-all-rosewood-species

certificate application may take around 6 months according to some other sites.

The true greats play on instinct, can't imagine what it must be like to not even have to think about what you're doing.

>tfw born without a musical brain

>tfw my dad is massively talented in music and I am an absolute pleb in comparison

...

I am alone for new years and now I also have to feel this, fuck you.

what can I gain or lose from adjusting my truss rod? I know what adjusting it would do but is there any significant benefits or downsides to doing it?

Don't touch, you don't know what you're doing.

>I am alone

wrong, us talentless plebs are keeping you company.

crank about 100 degrees clockwise for best action. if it doesn't slide perfectly, just give a little more pressure.

fair enough, I'll stay away, but for future reference, what could happen if I had not asked and just done?

What you can gain is a straighter neck that will give you lower action near the 12 fret and maybe fix your intonation if you're having there. What you can lose is your neck. You can break your neck or pop off your fret board, but that's really only if you're a retard who cranks the truss rod way too hard. Your neck should only need small adjustments, if it requires large adjustments you should probably take it to a real tech because there might be larger problems lurking that you don't know about.
