Looking forward to these

all good Mexican boxers turn pro at 14 to fight at Tijuana donkey shows so can't imagine this guy'll go far

The Olympic judges don't seem to like the Mexican style either

Also, I've noticed a lot of clinching from the Uzbekis. I guess they must like Mayweather over there

What a fucking shitty fighter

He actually looked pretty good in round one then just went full Andre Ward/Bernard Hopkins mode. The Uzbeks must literally train their fighters to clinch and spoil

gay af

GGGrandad's getting clocked

Namibian using the textbook "run and flail" technique

I am ready for USA vs RUSSIA the greatest rivalry of all time

Not impressed with these Central Asian boxers so far

They spoil too much

Why's the Kazakh never gone pro? Doesn't he like money?

I can understand why they'd stay amateur in commie countries due to the perks but in this day and age?

Unless the crazy Kazakh government thinks amateur boxing brings prestige and legitimacy. That said, there was that Italian HW who was a copper so perhaps the Kazakh just has a really good job.

Pro boxing is a rough life if you don't have a good promoter hook up. Look how difficult it was for GGG to get noticed, didn't get big money fights until his 30s.

There's no pro infrastructure or audience in Kazakhstan and other countries aren't interested in scouting and signing them.

Things are changing a bit now thanks to guys like Golovkin. In fact GGG Promotions will be attempting so sign some of these fighters themselves after the tourney.

Also, these "amateurs" are absolutely rewarded with cash in their home countries if they are successful. For those countries international prestige is important and they'll pay big bucks for it. Pro boxing is inherently individualistic and capitalistic and therefore more of a Western thing.

Fair enough. Cheers.

Kazakh have great sponsors and get rewarded well and even better if with medals

The great Kazah welterweight, Serik Sapiyev, apparently lived like a king despite remaining "amateur" his whole career

Ireland also has tons of quality amateurs but few pros, I believe their boxers get similarly rewarded

Exactly. All the non-countries

On a similar note what the fuck has happened US setup, no golds since 2004. That human punching bag that AJ last fought actually represented them at superheavy last time.

Is the boxing stream running badly for anyone else? It's the first time I've had problems with any of the streams during this Olympics.

They have a decent team this year, although all of their talent is concentrated in the smaller weights.

But unfortunately USA just seems to be losing interest in boxing.

USA vs. Russia next

Just had an upset but this really should go to Russia.

>USA v Russia
>USA wearing red, Russia wearing blue
>the American is a spic, the Russian is a slope

This is all wrong

If being a turbomanlet wasn't enough, they had to get a female ref.

Hard round to score

Good fight

This is a bloody good fight.

Also, I would probably give the ref one.

2-0 USA in my opinion

dat spic music

House of Pain - Jump Around?

That was a knockdown!

this Hernandez is pretty white, looks like Ricky Hatton

That should be a draw

28-28

Hernandez has a spicy left hand

Mexico vs. Italy

Should be good. Hopefully the judges aren't biased against Mexico again

USA4EVER
RUSSIA4NEVER

zitto animale

USA STRONK

Should be clear cut for ITA

>Erik Francis Schrody (Everlast)

>Spic

Select one or the other, but you can't have both.

I figured it was because cholos play it but I was wrong.

who does this italian think he is muhammad ali? put your hands up reeeeee

Fat Mexican coaches with big mustaches just look the most knowledgeable about boxing

Most coaches are fat for some reason

most are ex pros, after you've spent 10-15 years obsessively staying in shape and watching your diet you end up not give a fuck

Many coaches are ex fighters and ex fighters are often fat since they're no longer crash dieting and training every day.

do we ever see (t)ko's in olympic boxing?

one day i'll be fat when i'm done fighting desu

Two so far

They get called easier than in the pros to prevent fighters taking too much damage

There have been a couple. Not as many due to less rounds but as with the pros, they tend to be at heavier weights.

Fug

Now we decide Yeleussinov's next punching bag.

judges hate mexico

yea but less often, the gloves are different to prevent KO's, I think they are bigger.

Also they use the standing 8 count which prevents a lot of finishes.

WE WUZ BOXERS

Would defo fugg the refereefu

fug the refs

that dodge lul

Nice to see a British boxer with some upper body movement. Usually our fighters are super robotic

hate fighters who yap every time they throw a punch

>blue boxer wearing red shoes
>red boxer wearing blue shoes

triggered

Robbie Fowler's cousin is going to get the shit beaten out of him in the next fight

I saw Alimkhanuly school Jason Quigley in the World Championships a few years ago

HERE COMES ROBBIE FOWLER

Yet the bookies actually have it fairly even. Nice bit of value.

Fowler not doing too badly tbqh

bbc stream lagging?

ROBBIE BTFO

Ok scratch that he's getting heemed

Holy shit

Yikes

Fowler's out of it

Don't want to mess with Kazakh boxers desu

Alan Connolly owning. Fowler needs to find a way to clear his head and increase energy

LOL every time the Kazakh throws he connects

Fowler will still have a career getting bashed up on Eddie Hearn undercards

Alimkhanuly is fucking good

Want to see him get revenge on Melikuziev

What a slaughter that was

2 more rounds for KO..

We need more rounds tbqh la's, wanna see some proper heems

This should be a good scrap

Fancy the Kazakh comfortably

Can't decide to stick with this or put on the weight lifting

Another Brit is getting slaughtered soon

Kazakhs do not fuck around

Funny how in the last 20 years the ex-Soviets have become exciting KO artists while Americans have become dull tippy tap technicians

This is a clinic

Why would you quit with one round to go?

That was like watching a lamb getting raped by an elephant

jesus christ kazakh boxers need to be locked up

This Kazakh is one mean motherfucker

Fowler should turn over right away and sign for Matchroom.Eddie will love putting him on Liverpool cards.

bout is lost, kid is young, another 3 minutes with that beast could break him

He'll make a good career being a tincan for up and comers to walk over

His amateur career really took a turn for the worse after 2013, he looked like a real talent back then.

This one will be close.

Nah, he'll be fed Latvian club fighters to build his name to casuals before losing silver title fights to "probably going to win a world title".

Lol this guy from Mauritius wants it

They're both shit but it's still very watchable.
