I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep

>I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
John 10:11

Why do atheists hate Him? This is not bait, I am genuinely curious.

>He will tend His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms; He will carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.
Isaiah 40:11

You fucking dumb Jesusposter

I thought this was /his/. Wow.

>Why do atheists hate Him? This is not bait, I am genuinely curious.

Be not concerned that he is hated; he came to earth knowing that he would be hated and despised by men.

Better to be hated and have grace than have the world, then die without it.

Agnostic here. I don't hate him. He actually had a lot of good points. I try to emulate the example he set in my own life. I kinda take his message like I would take the message from any inspirational speaker.

Was getting caught part of the plan?

Because a lot atheists think Jesus himself is some plight on their personal beliefs and not the people that push their agendas. They blindingly hate pretty much all religion, for no reason as opposed to the people that 'follow' said religion, and even some atheists will get in your face and try to convert you to their ways. That's why, it's a bunch of stupid people who won't blame humans for the problems of religion and instead just blame the religion itself, while being the very same hypocrites that they hate. Granted not every atheist, agnostic, christian, etc. is like this, but it's a good chunk.

You can see this by the way they call themselves purveyors of reason, yet deny facts when it suits them.

There is a reason the Jesus myth theory caught on in the atheist community.

this

The bible is just as barbaric as the torah and the quran

Accept it, Sup Forumstards

Jesus is the all encompassing answer to the questions and problems presented in the old testament and furthermore the world.

Those guys with the waifu pillows are probably from Sup Forums

No one said it wasn't, Jesus himself was actually a pretty good guy though. Forgave criminals, wasn't pissed about being betrayed, loved everybody, healed blind dudes and lepers, revived people from the dead.

He was a pretty cool dude, assuming he actually existed and assuming he was actually the Son of God that is.

But yes, you are right, the Bible-Revelations and Judaism Old Testament is pretty damn brutal between lighting people on fire, murdering babies, plagues, Four Horsemen and blood oceans, whores of Babylon, etc.

>No one said it wasn't, Jesus himself was actually a pretty good guy though. Forgave criminals, wasn't pissed about being betrayed, loved everybody, healed blind dudes and lepers, revived people from the dead.

so he was basically the anti-Sup Forums

>TV - Ecumenical Matters

i dont like being compared to a sheep

if jesus was a goat herder i might trust him

>Pre-Jesus
>It's OK for you to murder, enslave, and sacrifice others as long as you're a Jew.

>Post-Jesus
>It's OK for you to murder and enslave others as long as you're a Jew.

he was anti-state for sure

>assuming he actually existed

this seems to be something which has popped up in last half century.

Most historians throughout time have agreed on his existence.

It would be pretty hard to fake a man who was documented in the century of his death. A man who had a large documented following in that same said century. A man whom Jewish historians and religous writers agree existed, as well as the Romans.

>Post-Jesus
>It's OK for you to murder and enslave others as long as you're a Jew.

"If you hate your brother, you have committed murder in your heart"

Sure

>Most historians throughout time have agreed on his existence.
No they haven't.

>historians throughout time have agreed on his existence.

Sure, buddy. They also found proof of Noah's ark too.

>Why do atheists hate Him? This is not bait, I am genuinely curious.

meh... you faggots are ok with us... at least compared to the fucking murderous/racist/bigoted/sexist neanderthals that are modern day Muslims.

The enemy of my enemy is my buddy... or something like that

Let me put it this way.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sei_Shōnagon

The only document and description of this woman can be found in her own book. They dont even know her real name. This is more than 900 years after Christs death.

As well as the Gospels, Christ was documented by secular historians who lived in the same century of his death.

His followers thought enough of him to write about him within 20 years of his death.

Much cant be said about other historical figures.

But there is no bias in this, of course.

Why do you hate your savior, Sup Forums?

The issue is we have no real proof of the man's existence these days, which is why it's popped up so much. Did the man actually exist? Oh more than likely, despite some of the stuff in the Bible it is pretty accurate on a lot of historical stuff and dates during the Greek and Roman Eras surprisingly, and they find evidence a few ears ago that Pontius Pilate actually existed as well.

Just more of a matter of, it's hard to prove that certain people existed when we have such little actually evidence on their lives ya know?

I don't hate him, I just don't beleive in everything he says.

>Just more of a matter of, it's hard to prove that certain people existed when we have such little actually evidence on their lives ya know?

Then why does this issue only pop up with religious figures.

Surely we should apply this same reasoning to all historical figures who are are revered to a mythic status?

The fact that a peasant who lived in an obscure corner of the middle east is so well documented is astounding. Whether or not he is real, surely the waves are which started the christian movement are. It does not seem to make sense as myth.
